We are from Bristol (south west England).

We love the longer cruises and chose this one over going on the dream for 4 nights in Dec.
At the moment I am reading through older posts and lots of research. (annoyed i cant get on Disney Cruise Line Site :headache:)
Am I too late for FE's?
Colette

Hi Colette and Family
Welcome onboard.
We are Neil & Michelle, from Newcastle. This will be out 4th Disney Cruise, we've not cruised with anyother either :) our first TA though.

My DD Taryn is on the ICP working in Mickey's of Hollywood Store on Hollywood Boulevard.

Excellent weight loss ... well done. I don't seem to be shifting any more lbs at the moment. I am off to Orlando on Friday so I will porbably locate a few more, as even though I am going to try and eat sensibly 80% of the time
( no bread, fries etc ) there will be a cinnabon and a dole whip in my future
( Orlando essentials ).

Sarah you must be mega excited by now :yay::yay:

Only a few days to go :woohoo:

We go into Mickey's of Hollywood everytime we are in DHS, so we are sure to bump into Taryn :thumbsup2

Where do I get a cinnabon? They sound scrummy :lovestruc We didn't manage a dole whip when we were there at christmas, it was a bit too cold for ice-cream, we were scraping the frost off the windscreen of the car in the morning :lmao:

Hi and welcome.

I like the idea of booking a couple of vans for Gibraltar. More active and less active sounds great. Neither Kevin nor I are fans of caves--little bit claustrophic--so we would prefer a tour that did not include lots of time to visit dark, tiny, scary caves!

So, count us in for two for the less active tour group.

Karen

It is very easy to just do your own thing. I think Gatormom's van is only for 8 people. When you get off the ship there are loads of taxi drivers who will take you where you want to go. Just tell them what you want to see or what you aren't too keen on. You might be able to barter a bit. I know many many fellow cruisers did just that last year.

Is anyone else planning on running the 5k on castaway cay? I did it last year and was planning on it again.

Off to start our clothes shopping today. Was looking through evrything and dont think we are goning to need loads.

Finally got on the cruise site and our ressies are not on there yet:sad2:
So hopefully after shopping I get to come home and obsess over the detail on there.:yay:
Colette

I love cruise shopping!!!:yay:

No running for me but I have great admiration for anyone who does it in that heat.:thumbsup2 I have enough problems just walking around there.:lmao:

It's going to be verry bad wether here. Thunder and Lightning and hard wind..

it was like that here yesterday afternoon, really bad storm, lots of lightning, and torrential rain.
luckily today seems a bit nicer

We might do something like this too. We went to Gibraltar on the cruise last year & really feel like we've "done" the rock, so that isn't as appealing. Still working on this one.....

same here, did gibraltar last year too, so not at all bothered about it this year. will go to morrisons if its open then will probably head back to the ship

Am I too late for FE's?
Colette

hi colette!
i'm karen and i'm cruising with DH gary.
not too late for FEs at all. all the info for the various signups is on the front page.

I don't mind taking 14+ days, but my boss isn't such a fan! Appeased him by promising to bring the laptop and check in every day. It's not that I'm indespensible, but he's a worrier. :rotfl2:

man, i hope for your sake that he's paying the internet bill!

I see that the Disney Cruise Line website is still down.

Did everyone hear about the Disney's Club Penguin website recently, Disney failed to re-register that domain name in time so the website just vanished for several days, bearing in mind that site gets tens of millions of hits each week that's a pretty big mistake.

I can only imagine the heads that rolled over that little mistake
SW

man, guessing someone really got into trouble about that!

Perhaps we can Zumba down the ship's halls to shift some weight--and cause everyone else to want what we've been drinking :rotfl2:

maybe the zumba party can come join the riverdance party...:rotfl:

oh and on the OCPD, i've just been to check for any cabin assignments and nothing there yet :(

...I am thinking Gatormom was just asking for a few cruisers to fill her minibus for 8, and not actually start organising tours!!!;) Of course she might like to, but it is very easy to just do your own thing and it wouldn't cost any more. When you get off the ship there are loads of taxi drivers who will take you where you want to go. Just tell them what you want to see or what you aren't too keen on. You might be able to barter a bit.

I figured if she was emailing Paul she could ask him if he'd do two tours - lock him in so more could enjoy his tour. Yes, they can arrange at the port for that same price, too. I think it is pretty much a fixed rate, as they are part of the Gibraltar Taxi Association. Housing is expensive there, so they all need to make a good living to afford to stay. (This could be seen as poking my nose into other people's business, maybe a bit of micromanaging. I was hoping I was just gathering information into one place.)

You can tell it's morning in the UK - the posting has resumed.

That's a great idea why don't we pick a sea day and arrange to turn up at, say, 2.30 for an impromptu Cove Cafe DIS Afternoon Tea, I know it's not Palo high tea but, it'll be a great opportunity for a relaxed meet.

SW
The treats in Cove Cafe this summer were absolutely gorgeous, I particularly enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberries :lovestruc An excellent idea for an alternative to Ladies High Tea :thumbsup2

Any excuse for a Cove Cafe Bailey's coffee ...

Maybe more than a one-time event.

Now, do we have GITs and Geezers on this cruise who will get together late night (10pm) for coffee/drinks in Cove Cafe? (or is that another cruise?)

oh and on the OCPD, i've just been to check for any cabin assignments and nothing there yet :(

I was hoping that information was going to magically appear, too, since they had had the site down yesterday. I know, I know, wait until the 30 day mark. Ugh. I don't like waiting. And then it's like Christmas after you've unwrapped all the packages and revealed the surprises - Now What? Oh, yeah - the cruise.

Hi Karen ..... I think I will have to dig out my bright yellow Disney poncho!

Karen and Lauren .....

So do we want to meet up somewhere at Animal Kingdom on 5th or somwhere like Downtown Disney in the evening. What time are you planning on staying in the park until Lauren and where abouts are you staying. Perhaps Karen would have a good idea of a meeting point as you know the area.

We will try and say hi to Mike ..... if you guys are in the Orlando area why don't you meet up with us ( us, Karen and Lauran and family ) on the 5th July. My DD Taryn is on the ICP working in Mickey's of Hollywood Store on Hollywood Boulevard.

:welcome: aboard. We are Claire & Lee from Hertfordshire, England.

Oh dear, that is rather embarrassing for them! I bet someone was fired over that little error!!!!

My monthly payment went to them yesterday. Shame there wasn't a problem with that!

How cool!

Your DH should say Hi to Taryn - TotallyAngelic's daughter. :goodvibes

Sarah you must be mega excited by now :yay::yay:

Ooh it was blinking fereezing at Xmas.........still had a Dole Whip though :lovestruc I made a school boy error though and didn't buy it from the Hawaaii counter  I WON'T be making that mistake again :wizard:

:sad1::sad1:Good morning everyone I am feeling very sad this morning, have just waved off my DD . She’s going to do her practice trek for her Duke of Edinburgh award around Snowden in Wales over the next week. The longest time she’s been away from home without us, and I’m now wondering how I’m going to leave her for our cruise if I feel like this now ! ( by the way she’s 17 ). A group of young girls walking 8/10 miles a day… just hoping they don’t get lost/hurt and they read the map correctly. Most likely explains why I,ve been feeling a little stressed :sad1:

:):) Yes that sounds like a great idea... chocolate covered strawberries think I may be able to manage a few:rotfl2::rotfl2:
And I've never tried a Bailey's coffee sounds delicious

All sounds good to me:dance3:

Karen
do they do zumba classes on the ship.... because if not will have to join
the riverdance crew !!!

Sarah
Not long now... have a great break.... you will see your DD soon. :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: but did you have to mention the cinnabon shop, won't beable to get that out of my head all day....JUST LOVE IT

Seraphine

Sounds great you and your DH have found diets that work for both of you. Dieting is certainly in the air at the moment :rotfl2::rotfl2:. I just have trouble with the word,, the minute I say to myself " right going on a diet " I become totally obessed with food and can't think of anything esle, lol it's like when's my next meal coming. About three years ago I lost eight stone, but have since put three back on, I will never be thin, but I do hope to be fitter. So yes we all need encouragement over the coming months and I will go to the gym on the ship, it's a good job we have some 25hr days. But I just get the feeing that still won't be enough to fit every thing in, and I thought cruise's were supposed to be relaxing !!

Margaret

Margaret, I hope the weather is kind to your daughter. Good for her to be doing this.

I hope so too, the weather's been so up in the air. Yesterday we had wonderful sunshine and then thunder/lightening and rain. I was amazed when she wanted to do this, since she's not the sport type at all... but I'm so proud of her for doing it.

margaret

Mmmmm I love Baileys Coffee's....

Hope your DD has a great time Margaret.

I am going to be getting some stuff together for my Scrapbook Exchange packs today. :) I've finished shopping for my Secret Mickey and i'm about half way through the FE gifts...i'm slowly getting things together. :cool1:

Margaret

Thanks Margaret! I do feel like we're the epitome of the old nursery rhyme "Jack Sprat could eat no fat, his wife could eat no lean".... that's us! It does mean we have to eat almost completely separate meals but whatever works.

I tried low fat years ago, and twice last year. The first time, I started to get paranoid about every mouthful, and I knew I had to find something else to keep my weight under control. I'm a chocolate binger, and the only way to get it sorted was to stop it completely. So, I went on Atkins (which I'd done about 8 years ago to good success, before my kids were born) and that seems to be my magic ticket.

The last few months, I've actually cheated a fair amount (lots of birthdays, etc) but have been able to keep my weight pretty stable. But I'm just looking to get that last bit off. I'm really at a loss about how to handle the cruise - the last cruise I went on, I fell of the wagon and managed to put 15 pounds back on in 2 weeks. I was able to get it back off reasonably easy (about 2 weeks of very low carb and lots of water) but I still don't want to go totally off the rails this time.

I'm a little worried as well as after this cruise, we're visiting my parents for a week and they've not seen me in a year. Its a big deal to me that I look good when I go back to my hometown, you know?

Here's a shout back from a couple of fellow low-carbers! Stan has lost 35+ pounds and I've lost 25 (with 20 more to go as well) and we are making it a way of life. We realize on the cruise some allowances must be made--there is a Palo chocolate souffle in my future, after all-- but on the whole we will be trying. (By "trying" I mean I won't have my customary cruise fill of 5 rolls and butter with dinner.)

I thought I'd encourage you by applauding your loss and your maintenance of same!! Very inspiring!!

Perhaps we can Zumba down the ship's halls to shift some weight--and cause everyone else to want what we've been drinking :rotfl2:

Sounds good to me!!! Let me know if you're looking for any new low-carb recipes - I have a few that are lifesavers. Too bad we couldn't get them to make them for us on the ship :)

I love to meet other low-carbers as most people look at me and what I eat as absolutely bonkers :upsidedow

Mmmmm I love Baileys Coffee's....

Hope your DD has a great time Margaret.

We'll need to have a few Claire..... just a thought..... we should buy a bottle of Bailey's and a can of squirty cream from Morrisons :lovestruc:lovestruc

DH was so switched on on the last cruise, he borrowed one of the plastic coffee mugs from Topsiders and used that, rather than using the disposable cups provided at the drinks station

You guys are all fantastic with the work and inventiveness on these SM and FE gifts :worship: I wish I had the time and the luggage space to do it :thumbsup2

Good luck on that! You will find there really isn't any internet while we are crossing the atlantic. When you do get a connection, closer to land, it is so slow you usually give up after about 15 min of waiting to bring up a website. We bought the 500 Min. package for $150 and had to get a refund because we just could not get online. We were not the only ones. Please do not depend on getting online, even DCL's computers are bad, actually worse. You may want to tell your boss if he does not hear from you it is not because you are having way too much fun to contact him, but that you tried and it was impossible...... Sorry to be the bearer of bad internet news....

Don't worry, I won't shoot the messenger as I've heard and/or experienced this before. Luckily two of the five crossing days are over a weekend so that helps. I'll also do the one absolutely necessary task (process payroll!) before I leave rather than trying to do it remotely on the "regular" day.

I have AT&T so thanks for the info. To clariify, you could not get a signal unless in port, correct?

In international waters, DCL uses the Cellular at Sea service. Check with your carrier if they participate with that service and find out what the rate is. It will likely be higher than land-based international roaming.

man, i hope for your sake that he's paying the internet bill!

Yup. He wants me to use it, he gets to pay for it! :rotfl2:

Mmmmm I love Baileys Coffee's....

We'll need to have a few Claire..... just a thought..... we should buy a bottle of Bailey's and a can of squirty cream from Morrisons :lovestruc:lovestruc

now thats an idea..... can of squirty cream + mouth, followed by shot of baileys..... :rotfl2:

I love Bailey's - never mind the coffee :rotfl:Jools and myself have been known to have a glass or 2 :goodvibes
