:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Wow that is scary!!!! Was that after this year's EBTA?

[ snip ]

My daughter and son-in-law were on the EBTA and I got a first hand report about the situation in Barcelona at the end of May. There had been a large group of economic/political protestors peacefully occupying the Placa Catalunya for a few weeks at the end of May. It so happened that the Barcelona football team (soccer for those of us west of the pond) was playing for the UEFA championship on May 29th (+/- a day) and traditionally the FCB football fanatics would gather and celebrate (or commiserate -- depending on the outcome) their championship on the Placa Catalunya. Apparently the Barcelona authorities, fearing these two groups would clash and violence/chaos might ensue, decided to Move the protest group out of the Placa Catalunya the day before the football game (Saturday, May 28th), which was the day the Magic arrived in port. This attempt to remove the protest group resulted in some violence and chaos.

My feeling is that while there is some reason for caution, I am not overly concerned about our visit to Barcelona. Of course, as they say on the internet, your mileage may vary.

Regards,
Jerry

Just wanted to share this photo ...... Taryn at the Disney University. The Disney Cast member badgea were brought in by Mickey Mouse himself. She had to send hers back because it said Prestatyn, England instead of Prestatyn, Wales. Whoops !! Mickey needs a geography lesson !!

i saw that on your FB this morning, looks like theyre having a great time!

I bet you were so excited to see a photo Sarah. Are things going well? I am reading a mum's posts on the Dibb about her daughter who went on the same flight I think. She is at one of the water parks and is thrilled to bits.

could you post a link to that thread?

That's right Marilyn, Rebecca is life guarding at Typhoon Lagoon.

I didn't think we would be allowed to link back to another forum.

Great photo Sarah - is Taryn hoping for anywhere in particular at DHS?

found the stuff on the dibb, man i really feel gutted that i never did this when i was at uni. if i thought for a second that gary wouldnt mind me leaving for two months or so, i'd be there in a heartbeat!

No, I wasn't sure if it would be deleted. I don't think they mind as much here as the Dibb does as this is mainly a US board perhaps? Not a direct link either.

cheap! then again i've only really ever bought the own brand stuff like carrefour, or kinder bars!

Well she would love Tower of Terror shop :scared1:

She has been told she could be moved anywhere where she is needed, but her main base will be the left block ..... somewhere on the left, otherwise she is non the wiser. She has gone to Hollywood Studios this afternoon to check it out I think. I have been chatting to her this afternoon and she is really having a ball ... she went to MK last evening to see Wishes.

i decided to add a couple more elements to my FE gifts, so have been working on them this afternoon. apart from one thing i need to print off (but have already designed), i'm now done!

Wowzer, I need to kick my planning in gear and start creating! You remind me of folks who have all their Christmas shopping done in October, lol. Very inspiring!

I am so happy she is settled in, it must be a relief :) My poor Texas brain can't imagine how to pronounce Prestatyn, guess I'll learn when I meet you in person!

Peanut butter everything is my favourite ... Reeces Peanut Butter cups, Nutrageous Bar etc etc ... I love them all :love::love:

Oh, have you seen the miniature "fit on the tip of your finger" reese's cups (they're so tiny they are unwrapped and in a large, resealable pouch); it's way too easy to indulge in too many of these

Has anyone tried Spanish chocolate ... what does it taste like? :confused3

Similar question, has anyone tried the thick hot chocolate drink I keep hearing about in Spain?

Just a few days away.... you have all been very busy, so sorry if I'm a bit behind.

Karen so glad your DD is so happy at WDW

We just booked today! Can't wait to get back to Barcelona!!

:cheer2::cheer2::welcome::welcome::cheer2::cheer2:
the party just got bigger
we are margaret and norman and it's our first disney cruise

Well I am a bit fed up with the weather recently. If it wants to rain then go on and have a pour down. Stop pretending it is April with showers every time I get my washing on the line!

Can't agree more, got caught out in another downpour today, helping DD do her paper round, nothing worst then soggy papers !

Unfortunately, formal-wear is typically cut 1 to 2 sizes smaller than normal. I picked up a couple of 14's (US size) on eBay that are more like 10's. :headache: I swear one that's supposed to be a 12 is a 6! :scared1: I haven't been that small since high school - when I was swimming 3 miles a day. So they'll all be going up on eBay or to the local consignment store sometime in the near future.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: well I know that feeling, but with me I don't think it's the size of the clothes more like the size I imagine I am. But what a pain.... I often find when that happens I never get around to putting them back on ebay

A lot of people do dress up for pirates but not everyone....at a guess I would say 50/50. You all get given a Pirate bandana at dinner so you can just wear that. pirate:

We won't be dressing up as we don't have enough luggage space what with all the FE gifts, Secret Mickey, candy exchange etc...

I love to dress up, doesn't happen very often. But am now begining to realise to my horror that what I would like to pack I can't. Just seem to have gone mad buying dresses.... when I don't normally wear them, I swear this cruise is sending me nuts !

We won't be dressing up as such either. We do have personalized pirate night T'shirts to wear though :)

Thats a great idea. I can't find outfits that will fit... and I'm no good at the craft thing.... so thanks for that idea:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

yeah - you US guys have not tasted proper cadburys unless yo've actually bought it fro the UK!!! no comparison whatsoever!

and for the UK chocoholics - anyone else think giant chocolate buttons taste so much better than the normal sized ones?!! :rotfl:

oh yes... buttons are the best.... and buttons easter eggs the very best... better than posh chocolate easter eggs anyday... and best of all I still have one tucked away in the garage and I think I may just have to go and find it....too much talk of chocolate

Well, here we go again, have just booked the west bound transatlantic, its only a couple of weeks since we got back from the east bound. Currently have a gaurentee veranda cabin, will post cabin number when we find out where we are.

Will be in touch

regards

Chris and Yvonne

:cheer2::cheer2::welcome::welcome::cheer2::cheer2:
look forward to meeting you

Margaret

:scared1:Ok with all the chocolate talk, I am tying myself to my chair to keep on my diet. :rotfl:

However, I do have a favor to ask of one of my UK friends. Would any of you be willing to buy me a couple (3...4...5) of 5 packs of Curly Wurlys? I have been hooked on them for years. I would reimburse you in your currancy of choice on the ship. They do sell them here in the US at World Market but the charge over a dollar for one bar. :scared1:

Thank you in advance for your help.

hi, i dont mind getting them for you, just let me know how many packs you want, susie

The Mast General Store has a little bit of EVERYTHING! I went with my dad about a year ago and was amazed at the store. GREAT candy area! My mom said nothing was better in the summertime when she was young than eating a moonpie and drinking an RC Cola after a day of working in the tobacco fields! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 That store is pretty awesome! We only had a short while in the original one near Boone NC, we will have to go back just to check it out again.

We love Peanut butter in this house :) We can only get Skippy from Costco and we prefer Peter Pan..lol's

No peanut butter twix's here, if there was I'm sure we would've tried them:)

I love peanut butter m&m's I suppose I am glad that they don't sell them over here otherwise I would be in trouble.

Peanut butter everything is my favourite ... Reeces Peanut Butter cups, Nutrageous Bar etc etc ... I love them all :love::love:

Yes we LOVE pb in this house. Especially with chocolate. I make a peanut butter chocolate torte (kind of like a cheescake but lighter) for Thanksgiving each year and it disappears very quickly.

Similar question, has anyone tried the thick hot chocolate drink I keep hearing about in Spain?

We had churros and chocolate in Madrid when we were there in May. It is a very thick sort of pudding chocolate that you could drink, but is better with a spoon.

The place to get it is at a Chocolateria. So if you see one of those, pop in for some churros con chocolate.

But as a rule we find the spanish chocolate not sweet enough for our tastes.

Love it!!! YAY for Taryn having a great time!! :thumbsup2

They closed our closest World Market but there are a couple others in town - I'm going to go look too!

If you go, let me know if you should see ginger Altoids - I was planning on bringing some with us to head off any queasiness and that seems like a place they would carry them, as the supermarkets don't.

I haven't tried those before, but will now! I went ahead and asked my doc to write a rx for the seasickness patch, so I hope he wrote it the correct way. He's usually delivering babies, but looked it up for me on exactly what to prescribe me! (And saves me a trip or call to my primary care doc!)

On one cruise out of San Juan, we had a pharmacist from Phoenix at our table and whatever I had with me didn't cut it (or maybe I didn't... thinking southern Caribbean would be less rocky). I had to leave dinner on formal night. He excused himself, gave Curt meds for me, and they did the trick - I went to bed and let Curt have formal night without me. I have never taken meds from someone I don't know, but he literally saved my cruise. Now I know they have that stuff at guest services and hit them up if necessary. Prefer no meds though... Ginger Ale has saved me while pregnant and cruising though! :)

Wow! I go out for a few hours and come back to find 3 pages all about chocolate. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That's me! I read the boards this morning before my first appointment, and got back online this afternoon, and whoa... can't keep up! :rotfl2:

Oh that is EXACTLY what I'm dreaming of! I like bitter dark chocolate, so I think I'm gonna fall in love! Thanks for the pic. I think I may have licked the screen in my excitement.

I've already started to google where to find that in Barcelona! :rotfl2: I have a former student over there right now... I may have to send her the pic and have her keep her eyes out! :thumbsup2

Hi Susie,

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! :worship::worship: I think 4 packs would be good. I am really grateful for your help. Just let me know how much they are and what currancy you would like.

Thanks,

Just wanted to share this with you all as it gave me a little :rotfl:

My DP was telling her mum about our cruise and that we had been conversing on a forum with people doing the same trip and about the activities organised etc.
She didnt have much to say on the matter, but found out tonight after talking to her sister that her mum thinks we have joined some kind of online cult group and have to give hundreds of people gifts to get on board!!! :lmao:

Oh dear........... bless her, she is in her 70s, so doesnt understand the ways of the world wide web!!
