ON the EBTA when we were in Barcelona, we found ourselves in the middle of a shoot out between police and protesters... gun shots going off all around us... over 100 people hurt. NO I did not feel safe and cancelled my hotel reservations to stay there for a few days.... I wanted out of there asap. I hope the protest are calming down there but heard they are still protesting.

That's another story. I think I did the same then. But usely it's the same as in every big city.

Could that "white frilly blouse" really be a "puffy shirt?" "I don't wanna be a pirate!" (Thanks Seinfeld show). That, The Dread Pirate Roberts (from The Princess Bride) and The Pirates of Penzance, are the only pirates I really like. (Although I have watched, repeatedly, any of the POC movies when they are on TV).

I always heard the combo RC cola and a moon pie - my dad mentioned the Grape Nehi recently; that was the first time I'd heard that - and now you mention it :goodvibes I can't do chocolate and soda together - too much of a shock to the system. Nothing like a Goo Goo Cluster Supreme with pecans in place of the peanuts. Yum. Haven't had one in over a decade, though.

So funny - I just saw that puffy shirt episode last week.

As for the moon pies and soda, you could always get a vanilla or banana moon pie w/ your RC - that way you won't have any chocolate in there. Yes the Nehi soda is pretty yummy, but not something you'd want to drink all the time. We came across them in bottles from the Mast General Store in North Carolina

I don't think we have Peanut Butter Twix here. As a nation we aren't into Peanut Butter like you are over there.

Yes we definitely are into peanutbutter here! It's my dog's favorite food too. :upsidedow

Three months ago we were talking about English food, Tesco, and Walker's crisps. :lmao:

If anyone randomly read our thread, they would think we were obsessed with
  • alcohol
  • shoes
  • losing weight/exercise
  • clothes
  • food
  • shopping in general
  • shore expeditions
  • pets
  • cruising
  • other travel

perhaps in that order
did I miss anything big?

If i tell this to my friends here at home they laugh at me. But we have fun.

OMG the show was out of this world and amazing!!!! I can't say too much as I don't want to waste it for Claire, but if you like Take That or Robbie Williams as an individual, it is a MUST MUST see.

What amazing entertainers they are, get the tickets snapped up for Hanover ASAP :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: you won't regret it :banana:

The Progress tour, with the 5 of them reunited for the first time, is a one-off,
you won't likely see a show like that again from them

Unfortunately back to work I go this afternoon

thanks, I can see if I can get tickets for the Amsterdam concert of july 18th.
I'll be then just back from a couple of days in Disneyland Paris.

The Mast General Store has a little bit of EVERYTHING! I went with my dad about a year ago and was amazed at the store. GREAT candy area! My mom said nothing was better in the summertime when she was young than eating a moonpie and drinking an RC Cola after a day of working in the tobacco fields! :thumbsup2

Wow! I go out for a few hours and come back to find 3 pages all about chocolate. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That is about right!! That should be your recap for his week. :lmao:

Is anyone else stopping at the same hotel as us? Well I do know of another family actually, but it would be great to have a few more. They do a 10% discount on the cruise rate. Close to Las Ramblas and Placa Catalunya and it has a pool!!! We stayed fairly close to this area last year and it is a great spot.

It looks lovely Marilyn. :goodvibes

:woohoo: Great tag.

now then - for all those dairy milk buffs out there - have you tried the dairy milk bubbly? its like aero and dairy milk had a perfectly formed, heavenly love child.............

Oooooh I love Dairy Milk Bubbly. :thumbsup2

claire - how are you getting on with this month's quiz? its been relatively ok til today, mandy sure came up with a headscratcher!

  Great list! Just about sums it up. (May need to add *chocolate* and a 2nd listing of *alcohol*).

You are soooo right. I have puchased lots of different chocolates in Europe and it is soooo much better. Yes there is parafin added to the US batches and I guess it is to keep it from melting in hot hot conditions while transporting to the stores. :worship: You guys "On the Other Side of the Pond" win hands down on the chocolate.:thumbsup2

Ditto! Your European chocolate is so much better than what we have here in the US. :worship: We've had chocolate in several European countries, for sampling purposes of course :rolleyes1, and we haven't had a bad bit yet! Always looking for the next yummy bit. :thumbsup2

i seem to be the only one who's answered today's so far. there's normally a few more answers by now :confused3

i do like some US choccies, but sorry to any fans out there, i HATE hersheys kisses. they're so waxy tasting, its the first bag of chocolate in years that i havent been able to finish.

and on the subject of booze - in case anyone needs help finding morrisons in gibraltar, my FE gift includes directions :rotfl:

i decided to add a couple more elements to my FE gifts, so have been working on them this afternoon. apart from one thing i need to print off (but have already designed), i'm now done!

lol, that makes it sound like you're in need of a chocolate hit!

Sorry guys, but Hershey's Kisses.... However we have had some very nice chocolate over there, Ghiradelli's for one(or more as it happened;))

I don't know, I haven't said anything as I don't want to make her feel bad if she has.

I just sent a guess, the first thing that came to mind this morning as I can't think of anything else. :confused3 I guess everyone is stuck.

Just wanted to share this photo ...... Taryn at the Disney University. The Disney Cast member badgea were brought in by Mickey Mouse himself. She had to send hers back because it said Prestatyn, England instead of Prestatyn, Wales. Whoops !! Mickey needs a geography lesson !!

Great photo Sarah, have you heard what area in DHS Taryn will be working in yet?

I bet you were so excited to see a photo Sarah. Are things going well? I am reading a mum's posts on the Dibb about her daughter who went on the same flight I think. She is at one of the water parks and is thrilled to bits.

The crisps (potato chips) comment made me laugh as we do have lots of flavours in the UK but my fave is Salt & Vinegar Lays and I crave them between trips!

I think that the flavor is weak in the Lays variety ... is that what you like about them? If you like them strong like me ... then do I have a treat for you, and I'll bring some along for you on the cruise.

In Australia I loved Twisties, but Cheetos are way better!

We are still looking for a place to stay, and this looks really nice. Is it centrally located?

Yes ... Johnny/Capt Sparrow!

OHHHHH--Have I been visited by the tag fairy? My message under screen name is suddenly all pink and beautiful! Oh, magic and pixie dust, I luv ya!

Congrats, that's cool. I am invisible to the tag fairy :teleport:

That is it, thanks Michelle. I wonder why they change the names like that. I can't tell you haw upset John was when he bought a Mars Bar over there and actually got a Milky Way!!!!!!!

I don't think we have Peanut Butter Twix here. As a nation we aren't into Peanut Butter like you are over there.

I ate one a few years ago, and thought it was weird and not like a Mars bar at all ... that's answers that mystery for me

Peanut Butter in chocolate  guess I can blame my British roots for that aversion

I don't like Kisses either ... except for the Candy Cane Kisses at Christmas

Now that's my kind of University :lovestruc Glad she's settling in, that must make you feel a little more comfortable.
