*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 4

I have not cruised WBTA on Disney, but from my past experiences, you have to claim your luggage in the big room where you disembark the ship and then present passport and papers that you filled out on board as to what you are bringing back with you. :scared1: So, any little things you need to stick in your suitcase you will have time to do that.:dance3:

Appreciate the information, but I was more asking about the option DCL has for checking your luggage with Delta straight to airport. I know that normally you would pick it up on the pier after disembarking--go through customs etc--but I have never had the option to pre-check luggage on ship before getting to airport--which according to what I am reading on DCL you have that option. My question was more--has anyone done that? What is the process? Do you do it AFTER you claim the luggage in the port/customs etc, or does it go from the ship to the airport (meaning you leave it outside and do not see it until you land in your destination)?

In Barcelona, Delta offered check in in the port, so you had to claim your luggage first then you check it in to airport in terminal.

Make sense?

Sorry if the first post was confusing.

Tortola to Jost VanDyke Excursion ---

Got the answer back on transferring cameras to shore -- :thumbsup2

"Yes - they both get close to shore and we care all of your items to
shore for you in water tight containers - during the winter season we do
this trip nearly everyday so we have a good routine that takes care of
everyone"

thanx for info mandy :thumbsup2

FE UPDATE!!

I've got the list divided up. I've got 20 spaces in each group, but I've left a couple blank on each, to add in people who are still signing up.

FE UPDATE!!

I've got the list divided up. I've got 20 spaces in each group, but I've left a couple blank on each, to add in people who are still signing up.

I have two questions:

1) Would everyone like their group now, to see who you will be giving to? They include all the info about who's who, kids, ages (kids only), and genders. Please be aware, I will be adding people to each group as they sign up (up to 20 cabins per group, until the August 1 cut off), so you will likely get a couple of cabins added to your group yet.

I would like mine now please. That way I will know if I'm on the right track for gifts

2) What should we name the groups? I noticed that one cruise named theirs after tropical fruit. I've tentatively named them after our ports of call (we have 6 groups and 6 ports, not including Port Canaveral), but if someone has something more interesting, creative, or memorable, I'm open. Let's hear some ideas!

Considering our groups "interest" in Morrison's and FABs, maybe we could name the groups after various FABs? Or types of bottled liquids that may or may not be accompanying people back onto the ship in Gibraltar?

Thank you for all of your hard work on this!!

scuba diving in tortola - we'd love to do the one tank dive if poss - a few (dozen) pages back we did have a few more divers around, so hopefully they'll pop by soon

Hi Karen, I have you both down as interested in a one tank dive. Just putting it out there for anyone else.

ATTENTION SCUBA DIVERS

If you are interested in DIVING in Tortola. Please PM me.

DCL no longer offers the diving excursion on Tortola. I have contacted a dive shop directly and they are willing to work with us. I need to know if any one else is interested. We have 4 people so far and need at least two more.

The quote I have is for a two tank two site boat dive, it is $115.00pp with 10.00pp gear rental. However, if you are only interested in a one tank dive let me know and I can go back and let them know our interest and get a quote for that. A one tank dive would most likely be a beach dive. We would have a local guide with either option. You must be a certified diver to do this excursion.

Please PM me and let me know if you are interested in a 1 or 2 tank dive, how many are in your party or with any questions.

Thank you all for your consideration.

fly4free2 "I am sailing with you on the WBTA, I have done several crusies, one EBTA last year but not on DCL. I am going solo, flying from Chicago to Barcelona on the 7th. Do you know of anyone who is looking for a room mate for a couple of days before the cruise. I am a retired Airline employee so have booked through my pass department. I have not been assigned a cabin yet, but its Cat. 5 balcony. My DD clued me in to the theard, it had not crossed my mind. I only booked a few days ago. I am getting soooo excited."

Money in Gibraltar
"One tip that I would give for Gibraltar is to take some pounds sterling. Everywhere will accept pounds sterling and euros but the exchange rate for euro's is 1.5 to the pound which is extortionate. If drawing money out of ATM's there are different machines that dispense pounds and euros. The ATM at morrisons gives pounds sterling" Tubbsteruk - Paul

Toddlers Together
"Great! I even thought of scheduling it twice the first sea day so that if there is a really cool activity someone wants to do, or kiddos are on their own time schedule as they usually are, we have a second one later so everyone with toddlers/babies/preschoolers has an opportunity to meet." We celebrated our daughter's 9th birthday on May 30 and had 12 kids here for a makeover party. We hired someone to do hair styling and someone else to do nails and temporary tatoos and it was a huge hit. The national kids (Ukrainian and Tatar) here kept asking if we were going to do it again next year for her birthday. Thankfully some of the moms stayed and helped us with the games and getting the pizzas ready.

Here is a picture of the cake I made. Morgan requested a pink sunglasses cake and I obliged.

"It is a pain for first time Disney cruisers, but please don't stress, you WILL get a dinner reservation. I bet there will be reservations still to be got online when your time comes as this cruise is not full. But, even if by some chance they are full, once you get onboard, go straight to Rockin Bar D and you will find they open up a whole load more for those who don't have internet access. They also have a wait list, but I don't think that will be necessary at all. But, I bet you could waitlist for a second reservation!!!!"

If I've counted correctly, you should have no more than 48, so 49 should cover it.

No problem. I didn't put their names on the list, so you can PM those to your group w/ your cabin number.

Do me a favor, please, and send me a PM to remind me to take your cabin number off the list I'll be posting.

Noel - I'll send you the file this evening or tomorrow. When I went back to count cabins to answer Karen's question, I noticed an error in her count. I want to double check everyone else's before I send it to you, but I have to go to work right now.

I will look for the file either this evening or on Saturday.

I am one of those unfortunate ones who has to schlep a laptop along on vacation for work purposes (work for a small company and am the only one who does financial stuff, etc.).

I've been on the Wonder, so I'm painfully aware of the speed of the internet access onboard, but am wondering about availability (Europe, Atlantic crossing, Caribbean) variability. I know storms and such can impact, but what about just geographical location? Does anyone who has done the EBTA or WBTA know what kind of consistancy there is to just having it available throughout the cruise? Our security officer would frown upon my taking the computer ashore and trying to find an internet cafe with wifi.

We found on the last WBTA that in the morning it seemed to work better than later in the day or evening. Sometimes we found we could not log on for hours. I am not sure what kind of luck with weather we will have this cruise so of course as you said it could impact the connection as well. DH and I both used all of our minutes more on waiting for sites to load than actual sending emails. We prepared everything before hand so we could just wait and send.

I'm not so concerned about the internet, but my sister may be getting some very big news while we are on this cruise -- news that I really need to know!! How hard is it to get a phone call in the middle of the Altantic, and how much will a very quick call cost? :goodvibes

Cheeseburger

Mandy, I like the way you think! Throw in a "Volcano" for good measure :goodvibes.

As for security, most of us are not that careful onboard; just think of all the door magnets with our names on them . I definitely think twice about giving out our last name or address beforehand, for home security purposes, but once on the ship have never had reason for concern. Of course, when Jess was younger but old enough to wander a ship on her own, I gave her the same safety lectures I would have if we were at any vacation destination. Just because it's a Disney ship doesn't mean there aren't potential dangers. I love the idea of the new phones in each cabin for families to stay in touch.

However the FE lists are handled, it's ok with me. Just point me in the right direction to find my FE buddies.....:)

Anybody who has just returned from cruising .. did you see these onboard ship?

Mel s******s...:rotfl::rotfl2:

My son Ethan 10 pirate:, has made a post in kids thread :woohoo: He'd really like to "meet" some kids before we go. So if your kids like hotdogs and burgers, Ethan is the one to talk to. :rotfl2:

Happy Saturday everyone pirate:

Oh my word was censored  Not a swear word I promise but it rhymes with a word that some peeps may find offensive, anyway it's an old English word which means to laugh in a secretive way! :lmao: Serves me right for being immature ;)

BTW Ethan is posting under my name as it's a pain in the neck to register him as he's under 13  I WILL check his posts though ;)

Thanks for the info!
