Brazilian blowout makes my curly, thick and frizzy hair nice an straight!! I can let it air dry or blow dry a bit without having to use a flat iron.

See the pictures in this link. My hair is much like the second blond haired woman. Brazilian Blowout

Never heard of that before. Here I am wishing I could have some of that curl/body/wave and people are paying to get rid of it! lol We just aren't happy with what we have, are we??!! I pay to have my hairdresser give me the "before" look! lol :lmao::lmao:

Yes, I think that is always true. I just don't like looking like I just stuck my finger in a light socket!

Where exactly do we dock in Madeira? I think I have found a shopping center that will be close to the ship that has a large supermarket, with my poor translating skills...LOL!! I just want to see it on a map before I say for sure...

It sounds like we are interested in basically the same things. So are there three of you in your party? I have an email into Barcelona Day Tours about car seats, I will ask them when they respond if they can take 7 and what the cost would be.

That would be great! DD needs a carseat if possible and yes there are 3 of us.

I'd love to join you for brunch... It's the best at Palo. Let me know which day and we'll go from there.

Are you all at DLP as well pre cruise? I seem to think you are. Andrew and I are at the Newport Resort and are planning to go to Paris via train on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to showing him a few sights and he's looking forward to the bakery and pastry shops!

Thanks again.

We're at the Disneyland hotel from 9/5-9/9 We're going to try to do a private tour that will pick us up from the airport and drop us off at DLP. We get in around 8 AM on the 5th and that way we can just be driven around and stay at DLP until time to go. I don't want to drag DD around too much prior to the cruise. I'll check on brunch and let you know. I've been trying to get into my cruise plans but it keeps giving me an error message and taking me back to the sign-in page. I'm sure we'll be able to add you though :goodvibes

I've found a map with the port location on the WBTA website...there is a shopping center called Dolce Vita that is very close to where we will be docked. Here is a description of it from a Madeira shopping site:

Dolce Vita

This is Funchal’s newest addition to the shopping scene. It has an excellent central location in downtown Funchal, next to the Santa Caterina Park, just 2 minutes away from the Marina and behind the main road ‘avenida de arriaga’. It is a large, modern mall with around 70 shops as well as a tasty food court offering anything from Burger King to Sushi. There is also a Health Club and a large Pingo Doce Supermarket and all this is serviced by a spacious car park that has a capacity for 900 cars. On the streets that circle the centre you will find many small boutique shops and one off designer establishments. Above the shopping mall is The Vine Hotel, a stunning place that overlooks all of Funchal. Lunches and coffees are reasonably priced and combined with the view from the outside terrace and the beauty of the infinity pool you will find that it complements the food perfectly.

Here is the website for Pingo Doce: http://www.pingodoce.pt/default.aspx

Perhaps someone else will have better luck that I translating what they have. It says it's a supermarket, but not sure if they have liquor and all that jazz...:goodvibes

It sounds like it :lmao: The way we are all going on about it I think it will be a large coach load not a small mini van!!!! :rotfl2:
:lmao: So are we hiring a van in Madeira too, just incase!
are you going to call it,the where can we find cheap booze and toiletries tour lol
It's the Magical Mystery Madeira supermarket tour:rotfl2:

I am not the expert on calibre like Jacqueline (Goofieslonglostsis) is about the program.

Click on her post or PM her. Jacqueline should give us all a quick tuitorial one day at sea!!

Grin, I'm hardly an expert. Just using it all the time as I ehm...borrow books mostly in epub files and the Kindle can not handle those.

Calibre works very easily. You upload files into the program by adding them in a same way as you'ld add files to a mail for instance. Next you select the books you want to convert, and tell the system into what type of file you want to chance them (for instance of Kindle that would be .mobi). Then Calibre goes off to work, anywhere from 1 to 3 minutes or so per book? After that is done, you can simply sent those files to the ereader if it's hooked up to the same system by selecting the books and hitting a "sent to reader" button. Takes mere minutes. If there is a real demand for tutorial let me know and a time can be set up. Having said that, it really is so userfriendly. :thumbsup2

Noel, did you check out the general cabana-thread yet? There is at least one pic on there with the view from cabana 11.

12-Metre Regatta

I was sad that I couldn't get this activity on St Maarten when Gold booking opened; I wondered if the Platinum and Concierge cruisers all wanted to do it.

So I emailed the company and found out that they do not sail August - October due to maintenance and hurricane season.

We're there the 23rd to the 30th and plan to squeeze in Harry Potter too. It should be great fun!

Our group (well 4 of us) will be at Newport Resort the same time. We were planning to go to Paris Wednesday or Thursday. We are all getting very excited about the trip!

I've just read the posts about morrisons :sad2::sad2:

I'll try and give them a ring tomorrow, hopefully the more enquiries they get, the more chance there is that they will open.
Another idea is to contact their head office in Bradford, whilst staff in Gibraltar may not want to open, if it is pointed out to top management about potential sales they could lose they might not have a choice.:rolleyes:

Their contact number is 01274 621000 - I'll try to speak with someone tomorrow and let you know.

If morrisons is closed all is not lost in Gibraltar, there are plenty of other stores selling reasonably priced wine, chocolates and toiletries. Does anyone know if it is just morrisons closed or all stores ??

Another thought is to contact a bar/restaurant and see if they will do us a good deal on cases of wine. If anyone is interested let me know and I will look into it for prices/choice etc.

From anyone wanting specific chocolate/sweets from the UK I'm having some
things sent on with family before we go and they are meeting us in Gibraltar
on the day. Due to this it is not using up valuable luggage allowance and I should be able to help out, if you want anything PM me and I'll see what I can
do.
I may even get them to bring a boot full of reasonably priced Spanish wine
;);)

Another option if you have got WIFI and (like me) are too lazy to find the cable, is to setup an email-address for the Kindle (at http://www.amazon.com/myk) and have Calibre mail the book to that address (remember to use xxx@free.amazon.com to avoid a charge).

Cheers,
Rasmus.

Duh, leave it upto DCL to not update their info on those specific cruises. I mean, how hard could it be to not offer the option after we sign in and want to book anything? Not just grey it out and let us think it's booked but do the same as with the gifts&amenities where they just only offer per cruise what they actually can supply to begin with.

As far Pingo Doce goes, I've already found that they sell wine! And that's with me officially not speaking or reading any portugues. ;) I've also seen picks of beerbottles. And apparently, they have take away also.

True!! I'm just way to impatient to wait for that mail to come through and get it on my Kindle. Takes me way longer than grabbing my cable (which I got in my cable drawer when at home or netbookbag when away) and doing it that way.

When we all were trying to get shop closure information ages ago someone said only the touristy shops will be open with it being a public holiday(in lieu of the Saturday), so not really sure. Otherwise there is a Boots and of course other chemists. Not as cheap as Morrisons though.:rolleyes1

Well that wouldn't be too far a walk, no different to the walk to Morrisons in Gibraltar anyway. Perhaps Noel's friend could let us know.

Yep - the one that is $40 per person and under age 3 free. I just sent him a quick reply to make sure he had our phone # for doing a deposit. I will let you know when he replies. :thumbsup2

What I like about the itinerary is you get a little of everything. :)

Hi

Would definitely be interested in doing this too. If you hear back and can include 4 more please add us.

Thanks :worship:

Maybe we should start a petition or an email campaign or something...:rotfl: :lmao:

Oh look, it's my 1,000th post!!
:banana::banana::banana:

Karen, I'm bringing some sweeties over for the Candy exchange I don't mind bringing a few extra for you either.
Let's hope!

I'm serious, just let me know some of your favourites & i'll bring them for you.

I was going to suggest signing up for the Candy Swap too, there are quite a few Brits on the list so you will get some more that way too.

Your generousity is really appreciated, and touched my heart. :flower3: We have an import store that carries a very limited variety of British goodies, where I can buy my main staples of Flakes and Maltesers ... for a price ;) What I was most looking forward to, was walking down an aisle full of sweets and checking out all the varieties and choosing something new to try as well as my favorites, if you know what I mean. Paul makes a good point in saying not all the stores will be closed, so I might still get to have that experience :goodvibes

I have thought of signing up for the candy swap several times, I just have no idea what kind of candy people would want from the U.S., that isn't already sold where they live. Maybe some of you could give a few hints :confused3

So it is a process you have done on your hair like a perm? Can I ask how much it costs to do something like that?
