Hello All,

With all the talk of Morrisons, I have a question:

Would it be better to wait and purchase our liquor in Gibraltar from Morrisons or buy it at the port in Barcelona?

If Morrisons is better, then I will only buy Spanish wine from Barcelona and wait for the hard stuff.

Thanks,

I purchased most of our liquor at Morrisons's including my Pimm's G&T in a can!!

Ehm, well, ehm, depends on who you ask. I need to get a small operation done before the trip and still got no date for it. The op is no biggie, normally needs no real down time but I've learned in the past that I can easily need much longer to recoup. We really aim for at least 6 but prefer at least 8 weeks to recoup but somehow the specialist still thinks he can get me in peachy shape within 2 days like no risk patients. So that could make things interesting unless I get a date real soon now. I'm always carefull to not want to jinx myself -been known to do that :rolleyes1 - but am kinda acting as if nothing is going on. I'm planning on going but let's touch wood.

Jacqueline, pixie dust on its way from Australia, hope the op is soon and recovery is less then 2 days.:grouphug:

Hey everyone booked this today!

This will be our 8th Disney cruise. We have never cruised with any other company. If its not broke etc. So let me introduce everyone:

Bill (snr) :My dad
Kath :My mum
Colette 32:ME!
Billy jnr (ds): 13 turning 14 on Sep 12th.
Jayden (ds) 11
Keegan (ds) 4
We are from Bristol (south west England).

We love the longer cruises and chose this one over going on the dream for 4 nights in Dec.
At the moment I am reading through older posts and lots of research. (annoyed i cant get on Disney Cruise Line Site :headache:)
Am I too late for FE's?
Colette

Welcome aboard :goodvibes We would definitely choose 14 nights of cruising over 4 nights

I see that the Disney Cruise Line website is still down.

Did everyone hear about the Disney's Club Penguin website recently, Disney failed to re-register that domain name in time so the website just vanished for several days, bearing in mind that site gets tens of millions of hits each week that's a pretty big mistake.

I can only imagine the heads that rolled over that little mistake

SW

Will did you play VMK?

...... A rainy day at Disney is still better than a sunny day at work! Remember - bright side, always! ;)

Amen :thumbsup2 ... or if you are a BSG fan .. so say we all!

I wonder if I can get the GPS to work on my phone over open water. It would be lovely to have my Google Sky map working on my phone on a nice clear evening. I remember from the EBTA that they had a captain that was out there and showing us where different stars and planets were. It would be nice to see them anytime.

DH would also love to do that.

Is anyone else planning on running the 5k on castaway cay? I did it last year and was planning on it again.

DH and I were thinking of doing the 5k, until someone pointed out that we don't arrive until 11.15am. It's a little too hot for us to run at that time

Now, do we have GITs and Geezers on this cruise who will get together late night (10pm) for coffee/drinks in Cove Cafe? (or is that another cruise?)
I have no idea what that is :confused3

I am going to be getting some stuff together for my Scrapbook Exchange packs today. :) I've finished shopping for my Secret Mickey and i'm about half way through the FE gifts...i'm slowly getting things together. :cool1:

Sounds like you are feeling better Claire :goodvibes

I think I am going to be "Mix & Match" with a little of everything as scrapbooking supplies are so limited in the UK.

 Just a thought ... although it won't help you much before the cruise. I have bought scrapbooking supplies from http://www.scrapyourtrip.com/disney.html before and they have lots of cool stuff for Disney and cruising. They are located in Florida and are super helpful, I'm sure they could arrange for stuff to be sent to your hotel. That way you could avoid expensive shipping fees and custom taxes.

:thumbsup2:woohoo: I actually use to work for them. If you ever get a chance to see their store house you will not be able to walk out without spending hundred's of dollars. :) I am hoping that my stuff for the exchange will be a personalized cruise ship with our sailing dates on it. (sorry I just let the cat out of the bag). The people are super awesome that work there.

THAT would be a fabulous find! I'm going to try and talk the third girl in our cabin into joining the exchange as well - one of the things that brought the three of us together was scrapping - in fact it was THE thing that brought us together - through the Disboards scrapbook forum!:thumbsup2

Hi Sarah, I'm trying to send you a PM, but your inbox can't receive anymore until some are cleared off :)

You've done fantastically well - that's a great loss!

I still have my cheats, but I once read something by a Dr Heller who practiced a type of low-carbing called "Hellering"... if you were going to "cheat" on a low carb way of eating, try to ensure that the cheating is done within a 60 minute time frame. Meaning, do what you're doing - have a small amount, then quit. But don't have a half piece of toast, then a few hours later have a piece of cake, then after dinner have something else. Do your damage within a tiny time frame and you help control your blood glucose levels from spiking too much. So I "heller" once and a while and it keeps me right.

Don't you love the stinkeye you get when you have bacon, cream, pork belly and half a pound of cheese in your shopping basket? People think I'm stark raving mad.

Who cares - I'm healthy and skinny! (well, not skinny exactly, but a whole lot smaller than I was!)

Here's my current low-carb favourite:

Crispy Coconut Chicken

1 C. dessicated coconut
1 Tablespoon Splenda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast halves, cut into 1-inch strips
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 C. butter or margarine, melted

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix coconut, salt, pepper, splenda (if desired) and garlic powder in medium bowl. Dip chicken strips into egg, then coat with coconut mixture.

Deep fry in hot oil until golden and crispy. Or, place in a shallow baking pan. Drizzle with melted butter. Bake 25 minutes or until chicken is browned and cooked through, turning once.

Makes about 2 dozen.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! THere's very little carb in shredded (dessicated) coconut, providing you get the non-sweetened variety. I dip it in soy sauce and it's probably my favourite thing right now :lovestruc

Thank you!" That sounds Yummy - I will look for the desicated coconut next time at the market.

The Hellers are the "carbohydrate addict" people. I went on their diet a decade or so ago and lost quite a bit. If I'd stayed on it, I likely would have never developed diabetes. It's a good diet.

That is a fabulous job! Well done! All those meds no longer necessary!

I'm off all my meds for high cholesterol and triglycerides, which sounds crazy considering the amount of fat I eat. However, without the carbs I post great numbers on the blood tests. So when I have my shopping cart full of bacon and beef and someone dares to give me the eye, I just smile and wave!

However, please don't turn me in on the cruise if I should happen to have a chocolate-covered strawberry--those things sound amazing as an afternoon treat!

Thank you - and GOOD FOR YOU too. Those are really tough meds to get off of. I may be joining you for that strawberry!

Ehm, well, ehm, depends on who you ask. I need to get a small operation done before the trip and still got no date for it. My fingers will be crossed for you, Babe. Sending healing dust wafting in your direction - or maybe "hurry up" dust would be more appropriate. :confused3

Gosh, I was so excited to be meeting Sarah, then Lauren. If anyone else is going to be at WDW on July 5, you are surely welcome to join us. Once we decide on a time and place, we can hope that anyone in the area can make it. Just in case anyone does not have a Park Hopper pass, maybe it would be best to meet somewhere at DTD? Just a thought.

I keep saying...I am available anytime and I am willing to meet anywhere. Just let me know.

Karen

The July 4th weekend is actually one time we really avoid the parks. Its just too too crowded to be in the midst of it. But I'll bet that work days go quicker when you're so busy! ;)

Yes I do feel very proud of my DD, because she's a big girl so it will be extra hard for her, But feel happy now because I know she's arrived after a seven hour journey, and after orientation tomorrow they will be let loose.

Congratulations on your first ebay sale.... I have loads of stuff to sell but never get around to it, I buy lots.... so you have spurred me on, don't know why I keep putting it off

Thank you re my DD

Have you ever had Assam tea, it's one of my favourites and nice and strong

Margaret

Thanks! It took me a few hours to read through "Ebay for Dummies" and list my items even though I already had a buyer's ebay account and a paypal account. Now that I made one sale though, I think it might be an ongoing thing for me. My mom is the best bargain shopper in the world, for example:

Me: Hey mom, I bought this $100 cocktail dress at 75% off! It was only $25!!
Mom: That's nice honey. I bought mine for 25 cents and it used to be $500.

So I'd like to pair up w/ her on some ebay sales b/c she doesn't feel that comfy w/ the system while I am very comfy but don't have that much to sell.

You should try it. Just think of it as your cocktail budget for the cruise :goodvibes

I've never tried Assam tea, I'll have to add it to the list!

Just popped in quickly to let you know that my lovely moggie Tink had 2 kittens tonight :lovestruc :cloud9:

I think she's still got some more in there :wizard:

I just had to tell you guys as I'm soooo excited :woohoo:

Mel x

How wonderful! Congratulations on your 3 new babies :cat::cat::cat:

I have have Pimm's in the UK, but what is Pimm's G&T in a can. I love Pimm's with the lemons and limes. :drinking1

I like Pimm's too! Its not very popular here, but a Pimm's Cup on a hot day is lovely. The G&T in a can sounds interesting.

:thumbsup2:woohoo: I actually use to work for them. I wanted to visit the store house but wasn't able to be there during regular hours and someone offered to open up just for me. Although I never got to take them up on that offer, they have had my business ever since for being so awesome as to make the offer in the first place. That was a few years ago, maybe you were that awesome person?? :goodvibes

Lol. No. That wouldn't have been me. I only went in to help fill orders when they were busy. But that is just the type of people they are though.

I was looking through my notes on my iPhone from our med cruise and forgot to mention, for the benefit of our repeat cruisers, that Peter was the cruise director and he told me that he would still be there for the WBTA. Brent was fantastic last year, we have done a few cruises with Peter, he is brilliant too :cool1:

We've had Peter as our Cruise Director on our past 2 cruises. It will be nice to see him again for the WBTA :thumbsup2

The dining times on the ebta & med were 6pm & 8:30pm....even though it was listed on the KTTW cards as 5:45 & 8:15 :confused3

The Navigator & announcements reinforced the times, but it took everyone a while to figure it out...lol

So sorry, I believe it was Captain John, but my memory is failing me there...:confused3

Very pleasant, balding fellow with a bit of a dead pan report...if that helps at all!! .

How confusing with different times being put on the KTTW vs the navigatlors. :confused3

If it is Captain John on the WBTA, it will be the third time for us sailing with him too :thumbsup2

:welcome: Colette and family. DH and I are originally from Bristol, but have lived in Canada for over 14 years now :)

 Hello to all the other new cruisers too! Looking forward to meeting you all in September :goodvibes:

Pat, what kinds of anxiety do your dogs have? They are sensitive creatures aren't they?
My baby had separation anxiety very bad when we first got him. He destroyed SO many things - library books, a carpet, a chair, remote controls, cds, magazines, newspapers and even the gear shift in my car! I read up and started doing some things and finally he stopped and now we can leave him anywhere. :littleangel:

Neville has some separation anxiety. When we first got him, he chewed his way out of two crates. He got his jaws around the bars and squeezed them together til they broke. :scared1: We called him "Dogzilla." He seems to be fine when he shares a crate with Luna. He has stayed with my parents a couple of times and didn't have a problem. They have a dog about his size and the two of them like to "fight" over the squeak toys. But the longest we've left him is a week, and he's never been to a boarding facility. Mom and Dad vetoed taking him for three weeks, so he has to board with the rest of the gang.

Juanita is just generally scared of everything. I've been taking her to as many places as I can, trying to desensitize her to strange situations and noises, being held by others, and taking treats from them. She's so skittish, even I have trouble getting her to come to me or letting me pick her up. We have a little ritual we have to do - she goes to her crate and I can pick her up from in there. She's made a lot of improvement since November when I got her, but she still has a way to go.

Fortunately they both love Luna, and Luna loves to go to the doggie hotel. She's going to go to day-care with them. I'm hoping that once they get to know the staff they'll be okay. They tend to get spoiled rotten at this place - Luna actually pouts when she has to come home - and I know Neville and Juanita will get extra attention b/c of their "problems." I'm just afraid they'll feel abandoned again with us being away so long. :sad1:

Luna actually pouts when she has to come home

Well, at least she will have you and Dennis to pout with. I usually pout pretty badly when having to get off a cruise ship!!

Sorry about the other though. I know it always tore me apart leaving my dogs
