Hi all!

We are a little late to the meet, but we just booked this cruise today!!! I am SO SO SO excited! We went on the Eastbound TA last year and it was one of my favorite vacations ever, so my husband said we'd do it again.....fast forward to yesterday when we found out that there are no European itineraries planned for DCL in 2012 so effectively there would be no TA's for us to go on......sooooo we just had to book this one to do it again!!!!!!!

Can't wait to get to know you all better. Last year's TA was our first disney cruise experience and it was wonderful :goodvibes

I am Liz and my husband is Joe.

Hi Liz! :welcome:My DH and I were also on last year's EBTA (our first Disney cruise) and immediately booked this year's WBTA. Won't it be nice to gain time instead of losing it as we sail?!!!! :woohoo:That was exhausting!

Welcome onboard Liz and Joe  This is our 4th Disney cruise, the first though without the kids and our first TA. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the Eastbound TA so much that you decided to repeat the experience, albeit in the opposite direction.:)

Yes, we are actually doing a cruise on the Carnival Magic (2 Magic ships in one year!) in May, so we couldn't have done the other way around even if we wanted to, but we liked the idea of gaining time much more than losing it like the last cruise!

We just had to get back onboard! I enjoyed the sea days so much, those 7 days fly right by.

:welcome::welcome: Glad to have you aboard!

Welcome aboard!!! :yay:

Hello Liz to you and your husband! :welcome: Glad you are on the cruise! You will certainly make friends on here and hope to chat with during the next few months!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! You guys made me feel so warm & fuzzy

Welcome aboard Liz and Joe!! We are Noel and John and this will be our 5th cruise on DCL. Our last cruise was the 2010 WBTA so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask or PM me.

Thanks for the information & offer to answer questions, I'm sure I will have some! That is a lot to take in - you guys are so organized :goodvibes

Welcome Liz & Joe. I'm Linda and my roommates are Eilean and Caroline. They're both widows and my husband skis. Not quite the same thing:rolleyes1 but he's used up his trip credits for the year.

I'm with you - straight from the salmon to the stollen - only I stop there!

Thanks Linda. I know the stollen comment wasn't for me, but are you talking about the stollen for brunch in Palo? It was the best I've ever had!

I wonder if we've met before then. Yes this will be much much better gaining time rather than losing it! I am SO looking forward to getting on the Magic again, we love all kinds of cruising, but the TA was a very special cruise for us & I've been dying to book another long Disney cruise since.

I ordered some tshirts about a week and a half ago (posted on here) and they came. From VistaPrint, and got front/back printed with uploaded logos from DISign board for under ten bucks per shirt. Great printing, thin shirts. I did make one shirt grey for $3 more, and wish I would have done more that way, but Curt was impressed. For ex: Did one with the postage stamp on the front chest corner with another logo across the back, but also uploaded Mickey heads with our names on them from the DISign board. Did pirate night tshirts as well.

Do you have any photos of the T-shirts to share?

Pat; congrats on the job!!

Well done on getting the job. Sounds like it will fit in easily, and bring in some much needed cruise money.

Well, nothing wrong with that if you ask me! Gives you the oppertunity to make an honest living and there's no bad thing about that. :thumbsup2

:cheer2::cheer2:
Congratulations on the job

Excellent news on the job !! Well done :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Congrats on the new job. :dance3:

Congrats .. jobs are hard to come by these days, so glad you got one you wanted. :wizard: .. pixie dust for lots of tips

congrats on the job pat!

Congrats on the job! No legitimate/legal/useful job is ever anything to be embarassed by, so enjoy and pat yourself on the back for being the chosen one :cheer2:. No judgments here...and money is nothing to laugh at...good for you :flower3:!

THAt is GREAT! Won't you MUCH rather bag groceries than dog poop:laughing:

Thank you, everyone! :flower3: :goodvibes: I'm really relieved that this came through! And don't get me wrong, I'm a true believer in "honest work." My parents didn't go to college and have always worked hard at anything they've done. They raised my brother and me to believe there's no such thing as a job that's "beneath" us. Heck, I once worked as the Easter Bunny when I was "between careers." I refer to it as my first professional acting job! :rotfl: It's just that, with an advanced degree, I'm often asked how I can do "those" kinds of jobs. Well, jobs in my field are pretty much non-existent in this area, and I have absolutely no desire to be an academic ever again (far too political for my taste), and I've got to do something - there are bills to pay and trips to take!

And Linda, if I could just get a few clients on board, the "scooper" business could actually be more lucrative (and much less annoying) than my teaching positions ever were! :rotfl2: Besides, with five dogs, poop-scooping is a fact of life. I might as well make it profitable! ;)

YAY for the new job, Pat!! :)
I'm keeping an eye on interline rates still, which are usually about the same as military, so nudge me if you see them come out!

I keep wondering how many of us US folks will be criss-crossing paths in the same airports on the way to BCN!!! Anyone else doing JFK-BCN on Sept 7 evening?

I will definitely give you a heads up on the rates if/when they come out. I'm still planning on that same JFK-BCN flight you're on. I've been keeping an eye on the rates and availability - rates are pretty steady and still lots of seats available. I'm hoping to book it at the end of the month.

:welcome: aboard!! We're Pat and Dennis. No kids (at least, not the two-legged kind), but five rescue dogs (who we'd smuggle aboard if we could figure out how). This will be our 3rd DCL cruise, but our first for more than 4 nights. It's a must-do for us now, with no TA's in 2012.

Welcome aboard Liz and Joe .. we are Sarah and Tony from Wales and this is our second transatlantic Disney cruise as last year we did the WBTA also. :thumbsup2

Whoops :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 and I thought I had some self restraint !!

Blue cheese and grape pizza??????!!!! :scared1: I've never heard of that before.......grapes on pizza? I must be missing something! lol Is that something regional?

Oh ... I forgot about the pizza .... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Might have to pinch a slice if DH orders one.

Welcome to the new cruisers

Pat - Congratulations on the job.

Sorry I have not been as 'active' but I am finding it increasingly difficult to actually get on the DIS boards. It will just not let me on on some mornings/nights.
I know some of you will think that's a good thing ;)

Hi and welcome. Better late than never!!!

Ask your server to bring one to try as an extra to your main choice. They will do that no problem. It really is so yummy. I think it is the blue cheese that makes the difference.

congratulations on your new job pat, though we had found next years cruise this morning, since no disney in the med next year, we saw a p&o cruise from los angeles to southampton with lots of different ports but on trying to find next year price sadly they are not doing this cruise next year only may this year, having never done a cruise before not sure how nice the p&o cruises are, i think we may be being spoilt doing disney as a first cruise lol, susie

. . . Thanks Linda. I know the stollen comment wasn't for me, but are you talking about the stollen for brunch in Palo? It was the best I've ever had!

Oh yeah. Stollen, gently spread with strawberry jam, piled with fresh strawberries and topped with a mountain of whipped cream :faint:

No, we MISS you!

Another sunny morning in the north eastern US. more yard work to do - more striving to lose some excess tonnage more dreaming of cruising:)

Do you have any photos of the T-shirts to share?

I will try to take some today and upload. :) Those were from the website I ordered, and then I did my first iron-on transfers from AmyMickey.com yesterday morning. Haven't washed the finished products, but all the reviews I read said her iron-ons have lasted at least a couple years.

Thank you, everyone! :flower3: :goodvibes: I'm really relieved that this came through! And don't get me wrong, I'm a true believer in "honest work." We're watching availability as well

Amen! No job beneath us here. As one person used to put it (when I was helping clean a church), "if the Lord wants me to clean toilets, then that's what I do!". :thumbsup2

And very true about the politics in education.

Welcome to the new cruisers

I have had issues as well. I'm on the computer a lot , so I try to pop over, but it's been acting weird!

Hi and welcome. Better late than never!!!

That sounds like it is worth a try!

I am very afraid my kids are going to be spoilt with "the Mickey ship". Curt and I have looked at other itineraries, but WOW - the pricing is crazy!

Have a FABULOUS Sunday everyone! :)

Twice in one day it's let me on, it's a miracle ...

aww Linda that's lovely

It's been lovely here the past 3 days. I am currently sitting in my back garden with the sun shining and it's lovely.
My washing is on the line and it smells so fresh.:laundy:

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Well the weather here is gorgeous today .... I would have gone for a lovely walk but I can't as I am on call. Busy day too with 7 post natal home visits.
Hope the weather is like this in 5 months time when right now we will be eating lunch at Topsiders and probably enjoying my first cocktail of the cruise :dance3:

Oh yeah. Stollen, gently spread with strawberry jam, piled with fresh strawberries and topped with a mountain of whipped cream :faint:

The Palo signiture marzipan stollen was the best thing I ate all cruise last year!!

With a drizzle of sweet honey, a spoonful of cream and the sharp sweet mixed berries on top, all with the amaretto running through it,

It might in fact be one of the best desserts I've every had, needless to say I went back for seconds, and one day was pleased to find the stollen on it's own in the Cove Cafe, :)

When I came back, I was missing it so much I went on a bit of a stollen search, trying 5 or 6 types from different places over christmas, needless to say nothing quite matched up to the Palo stollen. However Morrisons 'baked in store' was very good, sadly it was just a seasonal thing, so now I just need to wait till I get back on board next stollen hit.

Sunny here today too ! So lovely, sitting in the conservatory (as I prefur a little shade) with the iPad surfing the net.

I'm hoping it lasts till the weekend as i'm off to Paris on Thursday for 3 days, and I hoping to be able to have a picnic beside the Eiffel Tower.

Mary i forgot to say, love the photo of the guys in their Kilts. :thumbsup2

Most DIY jobs (and most WBTA) are 90% preparation that's where most folks get it wrong rushing head first into things :rotfl:

As long as you've put as much preparation into your kitchen as you are putting into planning this cruise, I'm certain it will be a resounding sucsess :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

SW

Haha I love that comparison.....although cruise planning is MUCH more fun! ;)

If the decorating was left down to me it would look horrendous but my husband is a bit of a perfectionist so it has to be done properly. He just laughs at me as I always end up wearing more paint than I actually get on the walls!

We arrive early on Thursday, and will hit the pavement running.

I :lovestruc:lovestruc Tea at the Floridian. We are also headed to Montserrat on Friday, maybe we could get up a group to go together. Were you planning on taking the train there?

Ok I have a question for you, If you had to choose one would it be High Tea at Palo's or Afternoon Tea at the Floridian? Not as in location, but which did you prefer in terms of the food & overall experience.

We've been to Palo's for brunch and high tea, but never dinner as the kids were with us on previous cruises and dinner was often the only time in the day where we all met up. I get the sense that some of you prefer the brunch over the dinner. Is there any particular reason why? Also, for those of you that did the WBTA cruise last year, can you remember which nights were the formal and semi-formal ones? Thanks:thumbsup2

I have only done Palo dinner & brunch once each, but I loved both. I really think that you should give both a try as it's a long cruise. :thumbsup2

Thank you Claire :)

I am making the most of being allowed on the boards. Still sitting in the garden as it's bliss, so warm. I have just put some suntan oil on and the smell has taken me back to our holiday, can't wait till we're there again.

I've had the server time out on me too today and it was really slow yesterday. Obviously us DISers just talk way too much :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Are you going to Disneyland Paris ????

Are you going to Disneyland Paris ????

No Disney for me this time!!! In fact it's the first time in 19 years that I'm not going to see the Mouse while in Paris,

My sister has always had a life long dream of visiting Monets garden, so for Christmas I bought her a weekend in Paris with side trip to see the gardens.

It's also her first trip to Paris, although she's been to Disneyland Paris several times, I can't wait to take her around the city I love so much I know we will have the most wonderful time.
