If we ever buy into DVC then it would be our 1st choice too, Lee loved staying there.

Your right, all Disney resorts are lovely. I am looking forward to staying with Lee in BLT after the cruise, I stayed there with a friend last year on a girls only trip & loved it so i'm hoping he will too.

What dates were you at WL?

How funny, it's a small world! ;) I had to check my dates but we were at WL 9-16th Dec, then moved to Yacht Club so we may have walked by you in the parks.

Sorry Michelle, I forgot to say i'll see if i've got a wedding pic on my laptop & PM it to you later...:thumbsup2

We were there from the 7th - 14th. We had 4 days at AKV then the 3 Day Cruise, then the final week at VWL. We were at MVMCP on the 9th!
I have not got round to staying at BLT yet! Still we've plenty of time.

Small world indeed.

That would be lovely Claire :)

Ha! So we were there the same time, how funny....we did MVMCP on the 12th.

I don't really like reading text on a screen and couldn't do it for a whole book. I like to have an actual paper book .. somehow reading text on a screen is too much like work. A trip report is about my tolerable limit, and that is only because it is my favourite subject. I can't see myself ever getting an E reader. ( but I will be looking for a lightweight book for the cruise )

I didn't think I would like reading books on a screen either, but the e-readers are lit in such a way to make it look as if you are reading a printed page, so it's not hard on your eyes at all.

Got to go to work, but need to post as there will no doubt be 10 pages and 8 other topics by the time I get home! :rotfl:

E-readers: I have a Nook (b&w, not the new color version), and I love it. As others have said, it's lit so that it looks like a regular paper page, not like a computer screen. Still love "real" books, though!

WL: Love it! It's our favorite, and one of the two we would buy into for DVC. We just love the woodsy feel and the fireplace in the lobby. Artist Point is one of our favorite restaurants, too. I'm partial to wines from the Pacific Northwest.

Claire: Buy a dress! I'm sure you'd look fabulous! :flower3: Oh, and by the way, I've lost 3 lbs. in the last 10 days by walking the dogs every morning and eating reasonably carefully. If I can do it, anyone can!

Later, kids!

Well done Pat on the weight loss.:thumbsup2

Claire, you should buy a dress for formal night. Where else do we get the chance to dress up? Go on!!

Well done on the 3lbs Pat. I've lost the plot this week, will start again on Monday I think! Onwards and downwards......

Thanks Marilyn, I know what you mean but i've never felt right in one but if I lose enough weight then i'll definately try some on and see how we go. :thumbsup2

We were..lol's Hope your MVMCP wasn't as mobbed as ours. We left after about 1 hour or so, it was just too busy to enjoy it.

Thank you for the wedding photos you looked fab:thumbsup2 You should buy a dress for the formal nights:goodvibes

Pat - Well done on the weight loss...keep it up.

One of my favorite series of books is the Stieg Larsson trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, etc). I found it hard to put the books down; as soon as I finished reading the second one, I had to immediately start the 3rd!

Another outstanding book is The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein - a poignant story written from a dog's point of view.

Other writers that I enjoy are:
- Michael Connelly (crime mystery). The books are best read in the same order as they were written as it follows the same main character throughout.
- Suzanne Brockmann; her Troubleshooters series is a mix of adventure and romance that revolves around a group of fictional Navy Seals.
- Penny Vincenzi; and
- Like Pat and Noel, I too like the books by P.D. James! :)

Thanks everyone for your author recommendations! Been most helpful. Will be looking around soon for some good "reads" for the cruise. Thanks again!:worship:

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

I'll be right here, too. I'm 'on' facebook, but rarely go there and virtually never post.

Spreadsheets ROCK! I've kept a travel planning spreadsheet since 2001 - I just save a copy and rename it every year, so the formating and so forth is all set up. I have a calendar grid for the days of the trip (for each trip in the year), a packing list, lists of gifts to buy, places to visit, eat, services I need in a particular place - ie shuttle, ecv phone numbers, scrapbook stores, local friends phone numbers; an address list for the postcards I send (just in case I lose the labels I preprint)

Time to get ready to go to the gym. Happy Day, All!

Wow, spreadsheets AND the gym? You totally rock. I'm suddenly feeling inadequate.... (I'd insert a smilie if the darned things were working for me!)

Hi everyone,

I wanted to confirm that we will in fact not be able to go now this year. The adoption we are in the process of will not be final and we are unable to take the children out of the country until it is. Hopefully there will be another transatlantic next year. If not, I think the children we have are much more worth missing a cruise!

Fantastic Pat, keep up the hard work :)

You're allowed to have lost the plot this week, it's not been a good one.

Sorry hun, I've got everyone on your case about wearing a frock lol, ooops you'll be cursing me :guilty:

All you CPAP users:

I have to bring an extension cord for my machine, as I have not found a plug to use near the head of the bed; they all seem to be along the top of the desk. Not so bad in Cat 11, when I run the cord down the wall, but can be a little tricky as a trip hazard when the bed is located farther away (and opposite wall to the desk).

My husband uses the outlets directly behind the TV to plug in his CPAP...he was a little creative :wizard: in running the cord, it was only exposed for about 2 feet (the trip hazard) before it went along his side of the bed. The CPAP unit was kept on the floor and it worked well for him :thumbsup2 - he didn't bring an extension cord.
It's probably a little different for everyone, depending on the length of the CPAP cord and the stateroom configuration.

Are e-readers making onboard book-swaps a thing of the past?

The Cove Cafe has a little paperback library - books for loan. I think it is a collection of donated books from cruisers who have finished their books and don't want to carry them back home. ;) My husband "checked-out" 2 paperbacks on our last cruise. So when you finish reading your fantastic novel, go drop it off in the Cove Cafe so someone else can enjoy reading it. :goodvibes

Gray O'Brien (Tony Gordon from Coronation Street) was in my class and I did actually hang around with him, he was one of my friends. Shame we lost touch after I got married and moved away :lmao:

WOW .... did he have a funny eye back then. Dd you ever imagine he would become such a famous actor !

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm nearly done now, just looking at one more formal dress. I had to get organised in time for our June cruise. I've been strategic with the dresses this time and made sure that there is a bit more give in the ones for the second week :scared1: those zips just don't fasten up on fitted dresses by the end of the cruise :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 don't know why :rotfl:

I have that trouble with zips too .. what is it with those dresses :confused3 Must be the Caribbean heat makes them shrink.

It certainly has been a rubbish week, we had the autopsy results today...it was a Brain hemorrhage. :sad2: Hopefully it was quick & he didn't suffer.

Not at all hun, infact I found it quite encouraging. I really need a kick up the backside to get back on it.

Great Job! (Claire, buy a DRESS!)

Spreadsheets? I was an engineering technician, whatd'ya expect?:confused3:rotfl:

I'm going to give all you dieters who struggle - some serious sympathy and maybe inspiration. I started going to the gym in August 2008 when Fibromyalgia go so bad I was miserable. First did simple stretching exercises in the pool - then more and more. In March 2009, I weighed 267 pounds. I've lost 55 pounds since then and still struggling (I'd like to lose another 55), BUT my blood glucose is under control and I am off one of my BP meds AND all my asthma meds. If I could offer anyone some advice - GET MOVING! And drink LOTS of water.

I taped my cord to the baseboard with duct tape - and people wonder why I pack the stuff for a cruise.:rotfl2:
