I checked after reading about ESTAs and it's not applicable to Canadians.:thumbsup2. Here's a link to GC's web site on current situation for documentation required for Canadians entering US from a cruise:
http://www.voyage.gc.ca/countries_pays/report_rapport-eng.asp?id=308000

Thanks for the info! Passed the info on to DH who usually takes care of all that.

I'll be there on Monday! :woohoo: This will be my first time in Europe and there was no way I was going to be that close to DLP and not go there for at least one day :cool1: Based on that fact alone, I'll be in Paris from Sept. 3 - Sept. 8, then off to Barcelona until the cruise. I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. :jumping1:

How exciting! We love DLP!

View from a relaxing boat ride on the Seine:

This boat ride is so worth it! Loved seeing the sites cruising on the river and we loved the beautiful view of Notre Dame from the boat!!

RC Racer: The ultimate racecar track.

Andy has unpacked his RC Racer play set to construct a "Hot Wheels" halfpipe of epic proportions. Towering above you, the curved orange track comes complete with its own lime green RC race car, zooming back and forth, flying up into the air at breathtaking 90-degree angles.

Situated at the back of Toy Story Playland amongst mature trees which double as overgrown bushes in this oversized universe, RC Racer is the big thrill of the land and the park's third roller coaster when it opened in August 2010.

The ride takes inspiration from Mattel's popular Hot Wheels line of toy cars, which famously come paired with the unmistakeable orange track as seen in the Toy Story films. Climbing aboard the huge remote-controlled RC car, riders are propelled forwards and backwards through the station building in a semi-circular "half pipe" of track, quickly building up enough speed to hit the top height of almost 80 feet (24 metres) and the thrilling free-fall back down to Earth which follows.

With its boy racer theme and a ride experience unique across both parks, RC Racer often attracts some unbearably long queues. Even though the outdoor extended queue line provides a brilliant trail along "Scalextric"-style track, past countless clever "plastic" props (such as a garage with stickers for decoration), guests can ultimately spend up to 80 minutes queueing back and forth in a terribly dull and uninspired covered waiting area for a brief 1 minute ride.

Despite this, race car riders always emerge at the end with the beaming smile of a child given a brand new toy — an enormous 80-foot new toy — and a single wish: "Again!"

Anybody else want to add some vacation time and join us at Disneyland Paris?

I know there's a DLP thread, but they won't have our WBTA DISers there, now will they? :goodvibes

I took DD, who was just 8, on this ride. She cried and was scared the whole time. I thought it was awesome. She told me she'd never do it again. However we went on the Tower of Terror and although she didn't like it at the time, later she asked if we could go again!:rotfl:

Just wanted to chime in and say that we too visited Disneyland Paris (in 2009) and did not have any problems communicating in the parks or in Paris itself even though we do not speak French.

I just made it a point before our trip to learn the basics (hello, please, thank you, may I have.., goodbye - and my favorite "je suis desole - je ne parle pas Francais...parlez vous anglais?" - (I'm sorry, I don't speak French - do you speak English?)

People seemed to appreciate the attempt and quickly started talking to me in English - probably because they felt bad about much I butchered their language!

I agree completely. We don't really know any French, but they were very kind when we tried.

Just been catching up with todays posts.....you guys are too fast!

I had some sad news this morning, my 64 year old Uncle died during the night. :sad1: So sad as he was found by his youngest daughter (15yo).
No one knows what happened, he hasn't been ill, he was fine yesterday. It is such a shock and so sudden. I really feel for my four cousins as their mother died several years ago of Breast Cancer and now their dad has been taken too.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Our condolences to you and your family.

Wow, Claire, that is just awful. I could not imagine. Prayers heading your family's way.

Claire, I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope her didn't suffer at all. It's just so sad for all his family left behind

Hi, I think what you guys need is one more Karen to join the group, so .. HERE I AM

My hubby Ed and I are signed up for this cruise. Our longest cruise so far was the 10 night Southern Caribbean back in 06, so we are pretty psyched to spend 14 nights on the Magic.

You must be a chatty bunch to already have three threads going, seems like you also pretty diverse - country-wise. I'm a bit of a misfit myself. My parents emigrated to Australia from England when I was 3, where I lived until I was 20 and now I live in the US with my sweet Yankee Boy.

You can't hear it in my posts but I speak with an American accent (according to my Aussie friends) thats tinged with Aussie (according to my US friends). Sadly the only thing British left in me, is my love of English chocolates, Clotted Cream and the BBC period dramas ... yes I love me some Mr Darcy :goodvibes

In one day, we met my DB's coworker for lunch at a large department store, dining under a lovely cupola:
P1030205.jpg

Ahhhhh....the atrium of the Galerie Lafayette :cloud9: - we know it well (just ask my husband who gets dragged there everytime we are in Paris - heehee).
J'aime Paris!!!

For those of you who need suggestions on what to do in Barcelona, I have quite a few ideas.

I have many more links to information both inside and outside of Barcelona about places to visit, tours, food, restaurants, transportation etc. if anyone wants more info, please PM me.

Thank you for posting all of the information :worship: :worship: - it will be very helpful to those of us who haven't spent a lot of time in Barcelona. And, you'll probably hear from me later to get some more information! :surfweb:

Welcome aboard Karen and Ed!! We are Noel and John and this will be our 5th cruise on DCL. Our last cruise was the 2010 WBTA so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask or PM me.

I have family in the UK as well and every so often I do pronounce things with a decided British accent. My DH insists I "interpret" when we visit family as often accented words or expressions are difficult for him to understand.

Please check this first page link of the thread to orient yourself about the cruise, DIS members on the cruise and all the activities planned.

To help you with all the activities that are planned, here is some information to help you decide if you want to participate:

01. If you are interested in participating in the Fish Extender Exchange (FE), please PM Pat (PFlamingo) with the following details:
Send her your stateroom number, Disboard name, first name of each person in the stateroom, realtionship to you (DH, DW, DD, DS, etc) ages and gender of children. You can cut and paste the format below.
Stateroom #:
Disname:
First name:
Age:

Age:

02. If people are interested in being in the same area as other DIS'ers to send Dan (Cliffy97) a PM with Lead Passenger name, your booking number and if you are Early or Late seating. Dan was told by Disney today that this is all they need to put folks together. :-).

03. If you are interested in the Candy Swap, please PM Jacqueline (goofieslonglostsis).

04. If you are interested in Secret Mickey Exchange, please PM Karen (karentan).

05. If you are interest in getting a WBTA lanyard, please PM Noel (birkner). See this lanyard link for example of the previous 2010 WBTA lanyard.

Hopefully, a group of DISers will volunteer to underwrite the lanyards as they did last year so they will be free to the rest of the DISers. We already have several people offering to be part of the lanyard underwriting group. If you wish to join, please send Noel (Birkner) a PM. If we get enough members, the cost should be $10 or less per member.

06. If you are interested in a WBTA lanyard pin, please PM Noel (birkner). See this pin link for example of the previous 2010 WBTA pin.Cost will be approximately 4,5 or 5 Euros per pin.

07. If you are interested in purchasing a WBTA t-shirt printed with a variation of the cruise meet logo, Karen (Pixie_Dust_For_Me) has kindly offered to organise this for our cruise. Price will be approximately $7 per t-shirt, and sizes range from Youth XS (size 2) to Youth XL; Adult S to Adult 4XL.

08. If you are interested in participating in a Mickey Mouse Club night, please check out this Mickey Mouse club post.

09. I am thinking of organizing the same tour I did last year in Madeira. Here is the Madeira link to a PDF file that gives more information about the 2010 tour. If you are interested, please send Noel (birkner) a PM.

10. We are also going to do a Champagne Girls meet. The Champagne Girls event originated on the WBPC cruise in 2008. Women get together dressed in pink to drink champagne or non alcoholic bubbly and chat. Pictures of the first meet are in this post and pictures from the last WBTA are in this post. Please PM (Clare)Pinky166 to add you name to the list.

11. If you would like to join in the Scrapbooking Exchange, please PM Clare (Pinky166) with your name and room number. The idea is to give your fellow exchangers some scrapbooking embellishments for use in your scrapbooks after you return home! For more info check this post.

12 Join us for a Pajama breakfast on September 18 at 10:00 AM at Lumiere's. We will meet outside Lumiere's at 9:50 AM to take group pictures. If you are interested, please PM Mandy (MandyGirl) with the number in your party.
Here is the picture from the PJ breakfast on last years WBTA.
PJparty.jpg

13. Sarah (TotallyAngelic) is organizing a Gibraltar Dolphin Watching Expedition if you are interested in joining. Please PM Sarah with the number in your party if you are interested.

14. Mandy (MandyGirl) is organizing a Tortola Excursion of a private day sail on a power catamaran to Jost VanDyke with Tortola Charters. Please PM Mandy with the number in your party if you are interested.

15. We hope to organize a Stateroom Tour of all the SR categories but we do yet have an organizer. Stay tuned for more details!!

16. If anyone wants to organize a postcard exchange, please feel free to start one. What we did las year is bring a postcard from where we lived and left in each other's FE. It is best to limit the number of participants no more than 25 as cost and weight to bring become an issue.

Thank you Chirpee and Aunt Lynne for the info on the spa it was most useful, I am so looking forward to the spa. I think I would like a length of cruise pass as long as DH doesn't think it will break the bank !! lets hope it's not too expensive, nice relaxing down time is always good. And it's great you can shower after a workout, can't think of anything worst than dripping all the way back to the stateroom yuk

Pinky166......so sorry to hear of your loss. So terribly sad for his daughter...both parents gone by the time she's 15. That's a lot to handle so young! My deepest sympathies!

Thanks for the welcome Noel, we were supposed to take this cruise last year, but other things came up. The WBTA should have been our fifth cruise but Disney went and cancelled the MED cruise on our B2B :headache: I'm sure I'll be taking you up on your offer of help. I think it will take a few days to digest all that is offered by this DISgroup :goodvibes

Claire, so sorry to hear about your uncle. I can't imagine how your cousins are feeling but i do wish them well.

Karen, welcome to you and your husband! I'm beginning to think we should have a Karen meet and greet with a favorite beverage. Or perhaps our tshirts should say one of the Karens.

My DS (Andrew) and I are very excited for this trip!

Have you done the London Eye? If you are a big museum fan, the British Museum is always interesting.

We also enjoyed Westminster Abbey, the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, and Kew Gardens to name a few.

Don't forget to make some time to see, eat and shop at Harrod's!!

John and I have stopped a few times as the Savoy which is now a Fairmont hotel. It is a great hotel for seeing London but a bit pricey!!

Here is a site to get more information.
