Ok so if you follow my antics on Facebook you will see I am possibly a lil drinker and embrace the English weekend events of Pub Crawls ( Sorry to anyone I may offend)... so after seeing what they were planning on the EBTA I want to see if there is any interest in a Disney Magic Pub Crawl.:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

In my mind the crawl would go like this...

On a sea day those who were interested would meet in one of the bars for ( Traditionally a half pint pounded, I would suggest a drink of your choice) and then visit (Crawl) every other bar on the ship at least once.

As we do not have to worry about anything closing or how we are getting home, I would imagine we can spend 20-30 min at each location versus the 5-10 min you have on the monopoloy pub crawl in London.

Perhaps we can make tshirts up too.

Ok Just a thought.. What do you think?

Great Idea so count me in. Your have to teach me how to order a half though, because I have never done that before and I might get confused:upsidedow

Thanks for all the welcome messages!

I've been reading Sarah's trip report from last year--I'm up to page 11--silly job, sometimes I have to work.

A few questions for "experienced" TA cruisers:

Due to luggage restrictions, I didn't plan to bring pirate dress. The pictures look like almost everyone got pirated up. Will we feel strange if we just wear pirate tees?

I also don't plan on different dresses for every night. How did you ladies manage to bring such amazing wardrobes with you?

Does anyone remember if there was some kind of price break for internet usage on the cruise? Was it a set fee for unlimited usage? I'm afraid that Kevin will go into serious withdrawal if he doesn't have internet!

Sarah, it sounded like you did your port sight-seeing on your own at the first stops. Was there any Disney excursion that you wished that you had taken?

Thanks so much, everyone,
Karen

Thats it, I give up. I don't know what else to try to get a ticker to work. I added the ] that was suggested and nothing. I'm just no good with computers. I will stick to buying on ebay.

Hi Everyone

I have recieved this email from the Dolphin Excursion this morning. I am a bit annoyed as they told me there wouldn't be a problem with capacity on the earlier time. The problem with 12:00 as it is right in the middle of the day and wouldn't really give you time to do anything else in the morning before the trip. I will contact them when I get back from work tonight to see what the problem is.

Hello Sarah
Sorry for the late reply and thank you for the update on your numbers .
Due to the high number of participants we need to make an adjustment to your sailing time and re-schedule for the 12.00 , I hope this does no inconvenience you .
Kindest Regards
Karim

I wonder if DCL bookings take precedence for time??

Maybe we can make an early visit to Morrison's before the "afternoon return-to-ship rush"?

Karen, you have to remember that Sarah was taking photos of the Dis group which made a big group effort in dressing as pirates!!! Many many didn't bother much or not at all. Though, it is easy to make a little effort as you get the bandana at the dinner table!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2: That is as far as we go. Well once I did take a white blouse with a frill on, and some chunky jewellery.:rotfl2: Some folk just take a pirate themed t shirt. I think it is fun if you are in a biggish group to join in, but I need all my baggage allowance for normal clothes this time!!!

That's us... plan on pirate tshirts we had made and a bandana. I think I have an outfit for DD (such as a Halloween outfit). With the possibility of me flying alone with the girls (and luggage), I am having to watch every little thing we pack!

Dennis (my DH) is planning to take his Pittsburgh Pirates t-shirt! I haven't decided what I'm going to take for Pirate night.

As for the wardrobe and luggage restrictions, I've just decided to suck it up and check a second bag if I have to. If I lose enough weight to get into my cute clothes, they're coming with me!

That's a good idea - even if we do look like total boozers!

As for the Dolphin excursion, we're good with whatever we have to do. But I definitely want to get to the top of "the Rock" and see the monkeys. Will there be time for that in the afternoon?

Does anyone know if the ports in the Caribbean use tender boats or not? Thanks!

No, the ship docks at the cruise terminals at both ports. However, I think it is a good walk to the town in St Maarten if that is where you want to go but they do have tenders that take you over from the dock for a small cost if you don't want to walk. Excursions go from the dock so no problem. There is a little shopping village at the port for souvenirs etc, but you have to go to the town for the jewellery shops etc. However I think the main street begins quite close to the dock so depends how far along you wish to go.

The last time I was at WDW I was on Weight Watchers and I lost I think 4 pounds. I recommend having your husband hire one of those jazzy chairs (that's what we call it here in AZ) and chase him around all day. Those things can zip through a crowd. I watched what I ate, most of the time, but also allowed myself to enjoy the vacation. We ate at the Earl of Sandwich a couple of times (their bread is beyond words) and the meal always ended with a brownie.

Their brownies are AMAZING! Last time I was there I discovered this brownie sandwich thing that has a rich icing between two brownies, it is like sweetness overload but so yummy :)

Hi Karen,
No, not everyone dresses in pirate dress so don't worry! pirate: I would say its about 50/50. Its just nice for the photo opportunities. We just wore bandanas, gold beads, white shirts and black pants and it was "piratey" (yes I just made up that word!) enough.

This is my 5th trip that goes over the two week time frame so finally I feel like I have the packing down. My rule for a long cruise like this is pack for half of the time that you're traveling (like if you're doing 16 days counting a pre-stay in Barcelona, pack for 8 days.) The ships do have laundry facilities so you can wash half-way through your trip.
I do a lot of mixing and matching with tops and pants and skirts and only bring things that can be matched with each other. It helps to pick a color scheme for neutrals (like khaki, grey and black OR khaki and brown) so you don't need to pack lots of different shoes - like just black heels or brown heels - does that makes sense?

We bought an internet package last EBTA (for work-related things) but I don't remember the cost. I know that the per minute cost is much lower the more minutes you buy. But the internet speed onboard a cruise ship is low low low, so going online is not as great as it is at home - hopefully you will be so busy that it will be the last thing on your mind!

Does anyone know if the ports in the Caribbean use tender boats or not? Thanks!

On other cruises I've been on (not on DCL, but I guess it would be the same) in St. Martin we docked and in Tortola we docked. :thumbsup2

I have been a bit lazy this morning and have been checking out restaurant menus for our trip to WDW in July ... but the low fat options seem to be few and far between, particularly when you are dining with 2 chaps who love their burgers and ribs. Even most of the salads have cheese etc added ( though I suppose I could ask for no cheese ) I have never been to Florida on a diet before, so I expect it will be an experience. That said, I am following the 80 % rule ( 80% healthy ) as I will not be able to resist certain treats such as dole whip, cinnabon bun etc, and we allow myself one of each.

Anyone got any tips for healthy eating in WDW / Orlando :confused3

DH and I always just share anything we eat, and with all the walking that we do have never come home with extra weight that wasn't just water weight. Speaking of water don't forget to drink lots of it :thumbsup2

just got back from my charity walk in dorset. despite honestly thinking a few times that i was going to die on a cliff top in lulworth, i'm really glad i did it, and between the whole group, we've so far raised £23,500 for great ormond street.

That's so awesome Karen, I love that Disney gets the cast members involved in service projects, thanks for participating :goodvibes

Hi all,

I am now up to page 98....so I'm making progress catching up. With all the "Karens" on this trip, I'm beginning to think we will need to go by number or nicknames otherwise it will be much like my 3rd grade class where we had 5 Karens....when you called Karen, all 5 of us would respond!

Karen

I have not seen so many Karens gathered in one place since I was in grade school either.

I've sold my iPhone and went to the 'android side' - I have no countdown on my phone anymore:(

I think I am 99 days too

I'm dancing :dancer::dancer:

We also have Android, if you are looking for a countdown for it then try this free widget https://market.android.com/details?id=de.leihwelt.android.daysleft

Last September we had 2 Sarahs, both from Wales and that did cause problems!!

Yeah that IS a bit annoying guess you could explain the situation that several folks have other activities planned for the day and that changing the time might cause some of them to have to back out, then hopefully they will honour the time they offered previously.

:rotfl2: I was thinking that too, it's will be the only way around it if they can;t change it back. We will look like a right bunch of alcoholics!!!!! Strolling back on the ship about 11am, rattling & clanking with all our booze! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Can you imagine a line of us waiting at the door for the place to open then rushing in an grabbing stuff off the shelves, it'll be just like Supermarket Sweep!!!!

Excellent idea! :thumbsup2 You can sign my husband up right now!!!! :dance3: He goes on a "pub crawl" in every city we visit while on vacation. This is right up his alley! :)

Sounds like good fun ..... but how many bars are there in total .... I have such poor stamina I wouldn't make it past the second one :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm afraid I am the same way - can't last more than a couple of drinks. We may need to have some volunteers along to "guide" the lost and wobbly back to their staterooms or whatever chair is available. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

As mentioned about half of the folks got dressed for pirate night, you get your free headscarf at dinner, so you certainly shouldn't feel worried about being the odd one out.

I don't think I could possibly recommend the Internet service onboard :sad2:

Once we get into those sea days in the middle of the trip we even loose most of the TV channels as there is no signal out in the Atlantic, so I can only imagine what the slow slow slow Internet must be like, if it even works at all!!!!

And there was certainly no price break offered.
