Well after starting my healthy eating last Tuesday I weighed today and I have lost 3lbs, so I am really pleased. It has been a difficult week and I have been incredibly moody, but fortunately being off work has helped me refrain from snacking, and I have kept myself to myself when being particularly grumpy. I now feel the worst is done and I can carry on, with the am of losing another 4lbs at least before we go to WDW and then another 7lbs ( plus what I gain in WDW ) until we cruise. It actually feels achievable and I am really pleased. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hello,
I am new here and my son and I are going on this cruise. How can I join this group?
Do I have to fill in the form on the 2011 WBTA website?
I can't pm you, because I have not enough posts.
Thanks,
Liesbeth Bakker (the Netherlands)

Hi Liesbeth :welcome: we are Mary and DH Stevie from Scotland. This will be our 9th Disney Cruise. We did last year's WBTA and it was amazing. Looking forward to an ever better one this year with the lovely chatty bunch of people on here

I totally forgot to say good luck last night, my head was all over the place. :upsidedow

We've got a birds nest in our garden at the moment, although we can't see the babies we can certainly hear them....they are so loud! :lovestruc

It's ok hun, I know you were a wee bit distracted with everything going on at home.

At least we have High Tea organised, hopefully all the other ladies involved will get their reservations too :cool1:

Wow, the trees in our garden aren't established enough, but I think from memory you had lots of old trees in your garden. That would be lovely having a nest in the garden. It would drive Tod crazy, he chases all the birds in our garden :lmao:

Just booked our Palo ressies. I wasn't going to get up for 5am as I haven't been too well. In fact I had forgotten all about it until I saw Mary's post earlier. Anyway, plenty of reservations still available for everything, even High Tea. I think I only saw one full time. We aren't booking any excursions but i am sure they are all still available.

Glad my early morning antics gave you a wee reminder Marilyn. I'm hoping you're feeling better over the coming months and able to cruise with us all. My Aunt has been suffering badly from pancreatitis over the years, not very nice and I can sympathise a bit from when I had my gall bladder disease. Getting that removed changed my life, but the pancreas isn't quite so easily fixed unfortunately :headache:

Glad to hear that you got everything that you and Stevie wanted, Mary. Thanks for letting us know about the availability :thumbsup2.

No probs, I'll give you all an update before the 90 day window :thumbsup2

The Monaco Grand Prix was exciting today, but I got fed up by the end. I can't believe that we are going to be there in 2 weeks :cool1:

I have been a bit lazy this morning and have been checking out restaurant menus for our trip to WDW in July ... but the low fat options seem to be few and far between, particularly when you are dining with 2 chaps who love their burgers and ribs. Even most of the salads have cheese etc added ( though I suppose I could ask for no cheese ) I have never been to Florida on a diet before, so I expect it will be an experience. That said, I am following the 80 % rule ( 80% healthy ) as I will not be able to resist certain treats such as dole whip, cinnabon bun etc, and we allow myself one of each.

Anyone got any tips for healthy eating in WDW / Orlando :confused3

What resort are you staying at Sarah? Is it a DVC resort with a gym?

When I lost 5 stones a few years ago, I was just about 1/2 stone from my target weight when we went to WDW on holiday. I had been so focused losing all that weight I was heart broken thinking I was going to ruin it in 2 weeks and do some major damage.

I cut myself down to 2 main meals a day on holiday, but with some healthy snacks in my bag for between times. Stevie and Rachel just eat consantly when we are in WDW with donuts, funnel cake, carrot cake, pastries and the like and it kills me, as I just put on 2 lbs just looking at them.

My trick was booking ADRs for all you can eat buffets and I stacked my plate constantly with some nice lean meats, salads etc and tried to keep away from the carbs - potatoes, bread and chips.

For quick service I always love Cosmic Rays. I have the grilled chicken in a bun, give Stevie my chips and then fill a separate plate full of all the salad, mushrooms etc that they have in the salad bar.

We stayed at the Beach Club that year and I went down to the gym every day and did an hour on the exercise bike.

I didn't feel that I missed out. I even had some carrot cake or a funnel cake some days as a meal replacement.

I was so chuffed when I came home and stood on the scales and I was exactly the same, I had maintained. My Scottish Slimmers teacher was amazed. It must have been all the walking at WDW and the gym that helped.

I think we all underestimate how many miles we walk at WDW

[Burnice, is it just me or haven't I seen you on here for a long time? How are things down there?]

Hi Jacqueline, have been lurking in the background and enjoying reading all the comments.

Dad has finally changed his mind about hiring scooter or wheelchair whilst in the parks, his idea of fun is for me to be pushing him and Mum (sitting on his lap) around in a wheelchair, he reckons it will be the best way for me to loose weight and get fit. He loves the idea of the Mojitos & Mixology tasting's and then back to the Stateroom for an afternoon nap, looks like they are going to be a handful on the holiday.

He was telling me last night he was on the last convoy (WWII) to past the Straites of Gibraltor going home to England and somewhere in the house is the Plaque he received as a momento. Still learning about his life in the Forces after all this time.

Sorry to hear you are having health issues, wish I could do something to help you.:grouphug: PM me if you want to vent, happy to listen.

Burnice

I am glad you parents are really looking forward to this cruise. My Dad would never talk about his experiences in WWII with his children. It was only after he passed away when we going through his papers that I found all his medals, letters from friends during the war years and all his souvenirs. I never knew he was in intelligence or that he had been awarded medals for courage and valor. My Dad was one who just did his job and never complained or bragged.

So sorry to hear about your health issues ... there is nothing worse in the approach to a vacation. Hope you can get it sorted out as soon as possible.

Taryn flies to Orlando on 19th June ... expect a lot of weeping and wailing on here as I will be so anxious. First time she has left the country / flown without us.

How exciting for Taryn now that is so close. I know you will miss her but time will fly by so quickly and she will be home again before you know it.

I know there is a prospect that I may get lynched here but ...

:dancer: :dancer: :dancer: party: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

I'm doing the single digit dance, 9 days to go, we will officially be on the Magic NEXT WEEK :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I am soooo excited

We have nests in our garden and I am constantly trying to shoo the neighbours cat away from the trees. The other day she left us a present at the back door ... :sad2: It is a worry having so many cats around here.

We are staying at Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Boulevard ... mainly because of it's proximity to Downtown and to Vista Way where Taryn will be living and also it was half the cost of POFQ where we would otherwise have stayed. It has a pool and a gym so hopefully I will feel inclined to exercise a bit when not in the parks.

I have the same plan when it comes to meals .... cut down to 2 meals a day, choose the low fat / low carb options and only one unhealthy treat per day, which will hopefully be balanced out by the extra walking. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tips

With the doctor's thinking they had found he cause of my pancreatitis with my gallbladder, and taking it out, we all thought that would be the end of it, but apparently not. Just one of those things isn't it and lots and lots of people are so much worse than me? We are almost positive we will be on the cruise. I am always better on vacation for some reason!! I just need to live on vacation!!!:lmao:

No lynching ..... I may be a bit green around the edges though, but hey ... we just want you to have a fantastic magical cruise and to tell us all about it when you return :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: :dance3::dance3:

I know you make sense Noel and she will have an amazing time. But I know I will shed a few tears when she disappears through airport security :sad1:

I have the same problem with those bingo wings Susie ... need to find some exercises to tone them up a bit before wearing strappy dresses .

Well done!!!:thumbsup2

Keeping absolutely everything crossed that you will be able to make it :hug:

Thanks Sarah :)

I have that problem too, I hate them. I use wraps on the cruise to hide them with my strappy dresses lol, I usually find the restaurants too cool in the evenings anyway, so they help cover my shoulders if the air con is too cool for me, but they really are bingo cover ups :lmao::lmao:

Just checked the DCL website.

For those of you wondering what excursions are full already, here's a list:-

All Serenity Bay Cabanas
At least half of the Family Beach Cabanas are gone
12 metre regatta in St Maarten
Seaworld Explorer - Coral Reef Exploration in St Maarten

Not from me Mary. I am hoping you'll do a full report when you get back with lots of photos for us?
:dance3:

Of course, we all miss our chicks when they leave the nest and a few tears are in order!! However, with Skype, you can see her often and share with her the joys and sorrows of living away from home!

Your kids never seem to really appreciate home until they leave it for a time!!

Not from me Mary. I am hoping you'll do a full report when you get back with lots of photos for us?
:dance3:

I've never done that before :) Stevie reads them all before we go anywhere, so I think i'll have a go at that when I get home :cool1:
