Hello Claire and Lee,

Thank you for the gracious welcome. We have done two long cruises before (at least two weeks) and we have enjoyed them very much. Even two weeks pass by too quickly when you are having fun. We have not yet been on a Disney cruise, but we expect it to be wonderful. I probably won't be able to keep up with this "chatty bunch" but I will try to keep up as time allows. I still have to plan our journey from Las Vegas to Wisconsin, Maryland, and North Carolina (all in the US) before flying to Venice for the cruise to Barcelona to join this cruise. It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it!

Looking forward to meeting you, as well.

Regards,
Jerry

Welcome aboard!! We are Noel and John and this will be our 5th cruise on DCL. Our last cruise was the 2010 WBTA so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask or PM me.

Please check this first page link of the thread to orient yourself about the cruise, DIS members on the cruise and all the activities planned.

To help you with all the activities that are planned, here is some information to help you decide if you want to participate:

01. If you are interested in participating in the Fish Extender Exchange (FE), please PM Pat (PFlamingo) with the following details:
Send her your stateroom number, Disboard name, first name of each person in the stateroom, realtionship to you (DH, DW, DD, DS, etc) ages and gender of children. You can cut and paste the format below.

02. If people are interested in being in the same area as other DIS'ers to send Dan (Cliffy97) a PM with Lead Passenger name, your booking number and if you are Early or Late seating. Dan was told by Disney today that this is all they need to put folks together. :-).

03. If you are interested in the Candy Swap, please PM Jacqueline (goofieslonglostsis).

04. If you are interested in Secret Mickey Exchange, please PM Karen (karentan).

05. If you are interest in getting a WBTA lanyard, please PM Noel (birkner). See this lanyard link for example of the previous 2010 WBTA lanyard.

Hopefully, a group of DISers will volunteer to underwrite the lanyards as they did last year so they will be free to the rest of the DISers. We already have several people offering to be part of the lanyard underwriting group. If you wish to join, please send Noel (Birkner) a PM.

06. If you are interested in a WBTA lanyard pin, please PM Noel (birkner). See this pin link for example of the previous 2010 WBTA pin.Cost will be approximately 4,5 or 5 Euros per pin.

07. If you are interested in purchasing a WBTA t-shirt printed with a variation of the cruise meet logo, Karen (Pixie_Dust_For_Me) has kindly offered to organise this for our cruise. Price will be approximately $7 per t-shirt, and sizes range from Youth XS (size 2) to Youth XL; Adult S to Adult 4XL.

08. If you are interested in participating in a Mickey Mouse Club night, please check out this Mickey Mouse club post.

09. I am thinking of organizing the same tour I did last year in Madeira. Here is the Madeira link to a PDF file that gives more information about the 2010 tour. If you are interested, please send Noel (birkner) a PM.

10. We are also going to do a Champagne Girls meet. The Champagne Girls event originated on the WBPC cruise in 2008. Women get together dressed in pink to drink champagne or non alcoholic bubbly and chat. Pictures of the first meet are in this post and pictures from the last WBTA are in this post. Please PM (Clare)Pinky166 to add you name to the list.

11. If you would like to join in the Scrapbooking Exchange, please PM Clare (Pinky166) with your name and room number. The idea is to give your fellow exchangers some scrapbooking embellishments for use in your scrapbooks after you return home! For more info check this post.

12 Join us for a Pajama breakfast on September 18 at 10:00 AM at Lumiere's. We will meet outside Lumiere's at 9:50 AM to take group pictures. If you are interested, please PM Mandy (MandyGirl) with the number in your party.
Here is the picture from the PJ breakfast on last years WBTA.
PJparty.jpg

13. Sarah (TotallyAngelic) is organizing a Gibraltar Dolphin Watching Expedition if you are interested in joining. Please PM Sarah with the number in your party if you are interested.

14. Mandy (MandyGirl) is organizing a Tortola Excursion of a private day sail on a power catamaran to Jost VanDyke with Tortola Charters. Please PM Mandy with the number in your party if you are interested.

15. We hope to organize a Stateroom Tour of all the SR categories but we do yet have an organizer. Stay tuned for more details!!

16. If anyone wants to organize a postcard exchange, please feel free to start one. What we did las year is bring a postcard from where we lived and left in each other's FE. It is best to limit the number of participants no more than 25 as cost and weight to bring become an issue.

Oh my word ..... I have been absent from the internet for 2 evenings and now there are 8 pages to read :scared1::scared1::scared1: I will have to do my replies in stages !!

Between the skin cancer issue and trying to keep my aging skin moisturized (fighting those wrinkles all the way), I'll stick with my pale look, thank you! ;)

Funny story about that "healthy" tan thing. Dennis and I were standing in line at Hurricane Hannah's at the Beach Club. The woman in front of us was probably in her 30's but her skin looked like an old leather handbag. She was wearing a bikini with "Juicy" written across her backside (as in Juicy Couture, but Dennis didn't know that). He and I looked at the word, then at each other, and both said, "Juicy? I don't think so!" :rotfl:

This is very funny :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: but you do see some funny sights when the clothes come off. :rotfl2:

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

All this talk about sun screen is sure a day brightener for me - we're in a gloomy rainy period here.

If I look at the sun I get brown, so no laying out for me. Never did - it's hard for me to stay still more than 10 minutes anyway.

Anyone got any trips planned before September?

We are off to WDW in about 6 weeks to visit my DD who is working in WDW on the college programme. She leaves the UK on 19th June and it will be a big adventure for her. Other than that we are going POD camping next weekend in Howarth with friends, and we have a weekend reunion with our 2010 WBTA cruise buddies planned in August. We may do some other camping trips over the summer if the weather behaves.

Has anyone got any cures for mozzies? I take garlic capsules everyday for about 3 weeks leading up to a trip and throughout the holiday, I also take anti histamine for that time too (for my heat rash) but I still get it every time.

I ahve always been bitten by mozzies in the UK and Europe but they don't really bother me in USA. I must taste horrible to US mozzies. I have just used the bog-standard jungle formula repellant when in the Everglades etc.

I get 15 days (3 weeks). 12 are being used for the WBTA, so it has been no vacation time for me between January 1 and the day we leave for the cruise. (My counter below isn't just until we leave for the WBTA - it's until I get a day off!) Stir crazy!

We are lucky as we both work for the NHS and we get about 8 weeks annual leave each. I don't think I could cope with much less !!

I use this one:-

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-tanning Gel tinted and shimmering for face & body

It comes in a shade for pale skin, so that works for me and you can see where you have applied it because of the shimmer :thumbsup2

I might have to get some of this .. I like the sound of the shimmer !!! I generally use something like the Dove tinted moisturiser build up stuff before we go for a couple of weeks.

Thanks hun, he is home now. Very woozy from the anaesethic & sporting a horrid three inch cut on the top of his head which has been bleeding. They also removed the lump on the back of his ear & both have been sent off to the lab.

Thankfully his chest x ray & bloods were all ok. :thumbsup2 So now we just have to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't scratch at his stitches and wait 10 days until he has his stitches removed and we get the results back. :wizard:

Pleased to hear his tests came back ok ... must be such a relief. Hope he is managing with his stitches etc. Poor thing :hug::hug:

I just had a random thought. Do we know if all of the navigator's verandah rooms are full?

We are in a 6A - I was thinking if all of the 7A's (navigator verandah) are full, we could book a GTY room in the verandah category and be guaranteed a 6A or higher anyway - AND save $1,700 by doing it!

Or is my logic off?
Navigators are still showing available at the moment, both on Deck 5 and 6.

Morning all / good evening to our US friends.

Well there is nothing like an early morning wake up call when you've got doggies sleeping in your bedroom. :lmao: 4.50am this morning they decided to come & lick my face whilst I was asleep......scared the life out of me. :rotfl2: I guess I will be having an afternoon nap later. ;)
LOL's Claire, I bet it did :)
Hello everyone. I just discovered these boards and I have spent several hours skimming over the thousands of posts. My wife and I are very excited about what may be our first Disney Cruise. We were planning on taking the September 3rd Mediterranean cruise but it is apparently no longer available. We are considering taking the August 20th cruise instead. If not, this will be our first.

To Noel -- I just sent you a $10 gift via paypal for the Lanyard fund. Please accept my thanks for your efforts on this project.

To everyone else who has worked so hard on organizing so many activities, thank you. I am still trying to figure out which of these activities we wish to participate in. I will contact people via PM accordingly, very soon.

I look forward to meeting everyone and having a fabulous journey bringing the Magic Home.

Best regards,
Jerry and Linda

Welcome Jerry & Linda

We are Michelle & Neil, this will be our 4th Disney Cruise.

Hey you guys! I think I just welcomed you over on CC. Soooo glad I found the DIS boards - tons of fantastic information here!!

Have fun organizing your trips! We vacationed in Wisconsin one summer and loved it! Hubby thought it would be fun to move there... except for that little thing called WINTER! ;) Very cool with your Venice-Barcelona cruise!

Slacker!!! ;) I feel like I go to sleep, and then wake up early, quietly open my laptop in bed, and WOW! I missed like 4 pages of stuff while sleeping! :rotfl2: Then I work some, check the board, and missed another 4 pages.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to have been MIA for a bit, but things have been exceptionally busy! My DH finally returned to work yesterday so his recovery from back surgery has gone very well. He continues to do PT and is on a strict exercise regime that we are all trying to do as a family to support him. So, between school year end, trying to get caught up at work and family stuff, I've had very little time! I'm still stuck back on page 120 and really need to catch up!

Update on the t-shirts: I have tried to find a local silk-screen printer who is willing to take on the intricate design and have not been successful. Apparently, the designs will not work with a traditional silk-screen method and we either need to use something called "DTG - Direct to Garment" or Sublimation Dye. The one local printer that I was referred to that can do both DTG and Sublimation Dye quoted me a price that was, in my mind, outrageous...$19 per shirt with larger sizes being $25. One printer suggested going with heat transfers, but I'm not fond of those as they are stiff and hot underneath the design.

I think someone on the boards did a tshirt with another company for their family and I'm hoping that they can tell me who did it and how much it cost. At this point, I'm just about ready to give up on finding a reasonable way to do this. Two years ago, I did t-shirts for our Turkey Day Gang cruises, but the design was all one color and it was very inexpensive.

That's all for now. I hope to catch up by Monday and see what everyone has been doing. I can't believe the cruise is so close!

Karen

Phew i'm back on the DIS!!!!! I was getting withdrawl symptoms. :lmao:

Anyone else not been able to get on here for most of the day?

Glad to hear your DH is recovering well & back at work now Karen. :)

Question: If we like our deck 6 verandah (specific cabin - not GTY), should we (can we) put something in our reservation record to please not upgrade?

I think I remember someone mention being able to look down and see water from deck 6, versus on deck 7 where there is a one-foot bar jutting out that impedes the view down to the water? Booked directly with DCL, and wouldn't want to get pixie dusted into one of those solid wall verandahs (4E). I think I read where DCL will sometimes upgrade exact cabins (not just GTY).

:cool1: we just booked yest late seating and rich and i really look forward to ALL the fun! im trying to email pinky for tea at polo but bds say i have to have 10 posts? huh? we would also like the lanyards and we will join any wine tastings or cabin crawls and breakfast clubs!! oh yes a pink ladies yummmmm

I would be curious to know this about deck 7, as we are on that deck. If that is the case, maybe we will switch to 6150, which is basically the same room as we are now, except down one deck.

Me! I jumped over to check CC in the meantime, but was wondering what was up with DIS!

Good to know I wasn't the only one, it was driving me crazy!

:welcome: Rich & Nancy.

We are Claire & Lee, this is our 3rd dcl cruise but our first Trans Atl....we can not wait! :dance3:

Nancy I will add you to the Champagne Girls meet & Ladies only Palo High Tea as I am arranging both of those. :thumbsup2

You have to have 10 posts before you can send a PM so feel free to chat away here to get your post count up. :)

I think it was Marilyn (granmaz) who mentioned about the ledge, i'm sure she'll be along soon. :thumbsup2

Sorry, it is just a personal thing as I have friends who always go on Deck 7 and it is only the verandah rooms that I mean. We have been on there twice. I prefer the position of Deck 7 being 2 decks down from 9, but outside, just below the verandah wall is a wide metal rail that the maintenance thingy moves along. It is about a foot wide and blocks the view direct to the sea. On Deck 6 you can look straight down and i like being able to do that! See, just a personal thing.

Found it! :thumbsup2 She is always such a wealth of information

Haha, I was just about to repeat my thoughts there. However, I will just repeat that it is a personal dislike, others return to Deck 7 cruise after cruise. It just annoyed me that's all. I guess it depends on how much you like looking straight down to the sea. You can still see most of the sea of course.;) (Not that it matters here of course, but the ledge was also dirty and rusty on the Wonder this last January and I really didn't appreciate looking over at that.) I think the few rooms on Deck 5 might be even better being closer to the water.

Thanks!! I enjoy looking down, but Curt hates heights and will probably rarely set foot out there. If he does, his backside is against the door.

Hmm - I really wonder if I should change our stateroom to deck 6, then. Decisions, decisions!

From the plans, deck 7 looks like it would be quieter as there are fewer staterooms. Does the verandah in 6150 seem as large as 7134 when you look on the plans? Looks same size to me.
