Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

Oh CP! I am glad I saw the FB pic of the cottage before I heard that you were cancelling. It is so cute and you guys are going to have a blast. Just promise to post lots of pics.

Oh my goshhh... I feel so bad for my posting now. I guess thats what I get for posting before I READ! I'm sorry to have posted that- I hope I didn't make you sad. I'm sorry you had to cancel, but we all understand why. I actually probably shouldn't be going with all the things that I have coming up in the next few months.. life changing- new chapter.. but I'll get to that later. BUT since my dad finally caved after yearsss of me trying to persuade them and said "I want to plan a disney family vacation together", I jumped at the opportunity. Plus, I'm graduating FINALLY after way to many extra years than it was suppose to be.. and I want to celebrate my graduation, my little break from school, and my parents first time onsite. OK I'll stop- I've giving all the information away before I write my ptr. by the way, I'm starting that today. I'll send a link.

I do want to say- since I did catch up on all your postings. Reading your love and excitement for Star Wars - made me more excited about it. The last time we went to disney, we went to HS during the SWW and I thought the rope drop entertainment was cool; but the rest didn't impress me. I guess it was because I didn't get to see the one character I have always liked- C-3PO... I think. And it was SOO busy on that day that the crowdedness made me crazy. I didn't want to stand in the extra long lines for pictures. Anywho, I still love reading about your life and all the creative things you do- all year round incorporating Disney. I do a lot of little things like that as well.. and it makes me excited for the day that I have kids and I can do the fun things you do with my kids.

Also, I think instead of closing this PTR you should just talk about and share your beach vacation plans. I would love to see pictures of your place, the BEACH (especially since I'm stuck here in freezing cold-spring is never coming Michigan)... I know you said you would post stuff on FB.. I suppose I'll have to find ya.
:goodvibes

I just saw your post on FB and figured that meant no Disney trip. I'm sorry you had to cancel but Tybee Island is such a nice place. The cottage you'll be staying in is just adorable! I love places like that too. :goodvibes

Sorry Jackie about the cancelled trip. I hope you won't have to stay away from WDW too long, but the cottage and beach trip will be so nice too!

Well, I can't say I'm not sad that Connor won't get his Star Wars fix and you won't get your Disney fix, but Tybee Island sounds like a cool place. That house is too cute.

Being inquisitive about that as a possible trip for us sometimes, I looked it up on the website. It's very cute. And very yellow and blue inside and out.

I can picture Chelsea curled up in that daybed on the sunporch reading a book. Connor will be out in the yard finding insects or something. You can be writing a novel about a summer mystery on a peaceful island and become rich and famous and go wherever you want whenever you want. I'm not getting a vision about Charles, unless he's that man I see snoring away on the couch. :rolleyes1

So, your trip will be fine and fun and different. I wish it didn't have to be either/or, of course, but it's that way for us, too. I do want to go some other places, as well, but for us/for now Disney World gives a diverse group everything we need.

I look forward to your report and to showing it to the family as a possible future trip for us, too, so remember to make it all good. :thumbsup2 No mosquitoes or poison ivy or anything, please. ;)

And, since you're not doing a summer trip, does this mean there will be more Christmas/NYE pennies under the couch cushions? :santa:

I'm interested in what all you are doing to the house, too. Isn't it exciting to get new things? :woohoo: Tomorrow, if all goes as planned, my green, two burner, cruddy 40 year old stove will be replaced with a pretty new flat surface one. I am so excited about thinking about coming home from school and having that put in, so I hope it works out for tomorrow. Then Tuesday, he's supposed to start on the floor. :yay:

Jackie I have to say I was so sad when I read this. It is tough being a responsible adult isn't it??

I was looking so forward to meeting you but it sounds like you will have a great time at the beach. I would love time at the beach but not sure about my "3" boys. I will look forward to hearing all about your beach time.

so sorry Jackie...I am never good at those adult decisions....just yesterday Matt and I are plotting out one more "big" Disney trip after 2012 in the next 4 years cause after that...those Disney dollars will become Collage dollars :sad1:

I'll be following along on FB w/ your beach adventure...the cottage looks darling and very fun!!!

J~

Thanks, Julie! I think we will have a great time -- it will just be a different kind of great time than Disney.

Yes, I think as the kids are getting older, they are getting more expensive.

Wow, I've been away from the DIS too long. Didn't even know you had this PTR Jackie. I just saw the photo of the beach house on FB and the comments and put two and two together, then came and found your PTR. So sorry to be late for the party. Can you make a beach PTR? I hear Tybee is really nice. I have friends from Atlanta who vacation there. I know y'all will still have lots of fun.

I started a new PTR last week if you want to follow. I don't think we have any followers yet.

I'll keep up with you on FB!

Thanks, Susan! We have driven onto Tybee before for a quick look around, but we have never stayed there. I think it will be fun to explore the island.

I will head over to your PTR. :thumbsup2

Oh CP! I am glad I saw the FB pic of the cottage before I heard that you were cancelling. It is so cute and you guys are going to have a blast. Just promise to post lots of pics.

Oh, I will post lots and lots -- don't you worry! It will be a way to make up for not having a trip report to write! :goodvibes

Ah, thanks, Jen! Don't feel bad about posting. I really think I am okay with not going this summer because I know deep down inside we will be back! Yes, find me on Facebook! I will PM you my name. I posted a picture of the cottage on there this morning.

I just saw your post on FB and figured that meant no Disney trip. I'm sorry you had to cancel but Tybee Island is such a nice place. The cottage you'll be staying in is just adorable! I love places like that too. :goodvibes

The cottage just makes the whole thing, in my opinion. I really think I would not be nearly as okay with canceling Disney if it wasn't for that place!

Awwww.....Miss Jackie! :goodvibes

Thanks, Heidi! I am pretty okay today. I have started putting together a trip binder for the beach trip. You can take the girl away from Disney but...

Sorry Jackie about the cancelled trip. I hope you won't have to stay away from WDW too long, but the cottage and beach trip will be so nice too!

Thanks, Laura. I think it will be a nice change of pace.

Thanks, MeMom! I am disappointed about Connor missing out on SW fun and meeting up with everyone. New Year's may become more of a reality now, though. Like I told Anita the other day when I texted her the news, I just can't imagine staying away from Disney for two years. A quick NYE fix may be just the thing I need.

We are going to start with painting the kitchen and the living room. I have wanted to do both of those things for quite awhile now, and they are in desperate need of some attention.

Hurray for your new stove arriving. Just be careful with that flat top -- it stays hot for awhile and it is easy to forget and put your hand down on it. (My sister-in-law has one.) They are soooo easy to clean, though! :thumbsup2

Isn't that cottage adorable? I just love it and have pictured many similar things happening in there. I would love to become that best-selling author. :thumbsup2 Keep in mind, too, that the rental company offers an educator's discount. That helped tremendously. We essentially got an extra night for free. Can't beat that. There are so many cute cottages to choose from -- I actually ran across them when I was reading Savannah Breeze by Mary Kay Andrews. Love her books and she is a local author. Oh, and by the way, Chelsea has already laid claim to the room with the pink daybed. You know her well!

Jackie I have to say I was so sad when I read this. It is tough being a responsible adult isn't it??

I know, Doreen. I hate missing the chance of meeting everyone. :( That's truly the most heartbreaking thing to me.

Awww I'm so sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip :sad2:

But, you guys will have such an amazing time on your beach vacation! Parking the car and walking everywhere just sounds so nice and relaxing and I saw the picture of your cottage on FB...it's so cute!! :goodvibes

Aww rats. I hopped off the DIS went to the grocery store and Target and saw your post on Facebook and that got me worried... :sad1: I was thinking you were going to do both, then I wasn't sure, then I got home and just hopped on.

Well, you still owe me a photo of Connor at the beach in his Starwars Teeshirt

And yes, home improvements are costly, but they are fun, and okay, okay, being responsible for other expenses (braces!) is not fun -- boo!, BUT yes, you will still get some Disney in at some point soon, I bet. Heck, F & W, a fall or winter cruise, NYE... WHO knows... AND just for the record, we are going to go to WDW the summer of 2012 and to Universal... so I hearby say we have to make a meet work in 2011-2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 4th of July?? Mid June?? ;)

Honestly, I was as sad for you about missing this year's meets for the same reason I wish I were able to go, too... I have met some great friends on the DIS. That is what gets me excited for Disney these days, as well as our family fun. Which says a lot about you all :goodvibes

NOW, on a fun note, I just got some adorable spring mickey head sprinkles... so you know what that means... :rolleyes1

I love that cottage, btw. TOO cute, reminds me of the places we stay in the fall when we go to Virginia. quaint. :goodvibes I will enjoy hearing about a fabulous place I have never been too! Thanks for taking us with you! :goodvibes

And you better be on the DIS and facebook throughout the summer!!! I know I count on your quips and enjoy our banter... after all, SOMEONE has to help me poke fun at Shocker... :rotfl:

Aww, Jackie, hate to see that you will miss the Disney trip. I know that it can't be helped, but that doesn't make it feel any better!

I had to give up my Feb trip to Palm Beach this year because DH wanted to redo the family room. Love the room, but still was not happy about missing my trip.:sad2:

I do love beach cottages & the ocean, not Disney, but a great second place!

Doris

Oh no....I'm so sorry you had to make the aweful call to Disney Reservations to cancel.

I have had to make the same tough decisions in the past and it's very hard.

On a brighter note...I'd love to see the cottage pics!
I'm not on FB so I can't see them there.
Pretty Please!
Kids are happy to just go on vacation, so I'm sure they will have so much fun at the beach!

My DS16 actually likes the beach better than Disney...

I know how much you were looking forward to seeing the revamped Star Wars Ride.

I'm with Memom hoping to see you for NYE!!!:wizard:

P.S. We will be staying in New Jersey now...because they had a pool. LOL

I really hate to hear that! I was in the same boat last year, so I can totally relate. But I tell you what though, after all was said and done, I was so glad that we held off on that trip and took care of some other things. We are so much better off financially now, and it will make this year's trip even better having that peace of mind. I am sure you will feel the same way in the long run.

I know it is disappointing though b/c nowhere else compares to Disney. We went to Williamsburg, VA last year and we had fun, but everything just seems medicore after you've been to Disney. And yes, I am well aware that I sound like a spoiled brat for saying that. :rolleyes1 I really was thankful to be able to go anywhere, but you know what I mean. But I really do think that it will make you enjoy your next trip much more having had to skip this one. And if your life is as crazy as mine it sure makes the time fly by, so another trip will be here before you know it. One thing is for sure... you should be much more rested after a relaxing beach trip than a go, go, go Disney trip! I'm betting it will all be great and you'll be happier in the end! I will be on the lookout though for your next trip! :wizard:

Aw sorry to here no disney trip this year. But I'm sure your beach vacation will be just as much fun.

Awwww Jackie what hard news!! I too was looking forward to meeting up with you again, but there will always be other trips!!

Being a grown up is hard, but you are doing good things with the funds and you'll have a great time at the cottage! It looks adorable!!! I can't wait to hear about your adventures there!!!!

I know it's not Disney, but the beach sounds fun and relaxing, and the cottage charming! I hope you enjoy it and all the positive things that are going on. :)

Sorry you have to change your big Disney plans Jackie, but I'm sure you'll have a great time at the beach!!
Last summer when we did both Disney and the beach, I REALLY enjoyed our beach time. It was so fun and relaxing. Different from Disney, but really great!
I'll have to check FB to see the place you're going!

On another note - My DD10 just got the first two Kingdom Keepers books for her b-day! She's reading Harry Potter too, so I'm hoping to snag one and read it first!!

Oh, I’m sorry to hear that you had to cancel Disney this year, Jackie. I have been MIA from the boards up until recently because I had to reschedule the birthday trip I had planned and change it to a trip for this October. I can understand how bad it is to have to cancel a trip – but at least you are going to the beach and that cottage sounds wonderful! Also, congrats on going back to school!
