Sea Day

So today was I think the only day that we ate breakfast in Lumiere's. Lumiere's was not open everyday for breakfast. Some days it was open for brunch. But most days we just slept in and got up after they had breakfast available there.

Now why was I up early enough for breakfast on a sea day?? I had planned a Scout patch swap event and it started at 9:30am in the Promenade Lounge. Was this the best time for this event probably not. Although I figured people would want to do other things later in the day. So a few participants sent others in their place or were unable to attend.

The kids that did attend had a good time. After the patch swap, the girls moved to Diversions as they were working on a Try-It/ Badge on travel. We moved to Diversions as the Mickey 200 was occurring in the Promenade Lounge. Tracy(winotracy) from Dreams Unlimited came and talked to the girls and they did several other activities to complete the awards.

We headed back to the room and our Castaway Club invites were waiting for us.

We then headed to the Panama Canal Presentation being put on by Ken Puckett. It was very informational and a good way to learn more about the canal. He was a senior canal pilot on the canal.

Before long it was time for the Castaway Club reception to occur. Since there were over 2000 CC members it was held on deck 9 by the Goofy Pool. They had food and drinks for us. It was the largest group of CC members to sail.

We went to the show in the Walt Disney Theater, Ron Lucas was performing

Then we headed to Studio Sea, for Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer. Our tablemate Suzanne ended up being chosen to play.

We actually left before she was finished playing to go and change for dinner. We were greeted by this guy at our room. Yep a blanket turtle.

They had trays and trays of them and not that many people showed up. I think it was because, they knew if they wanted to enjoy Acapuclo we all needed to get off the ship and be back on by 1pm in order to get to the Panama Canal on time.

Great pictures! Wonderful details... I feel like I'm on the cruise! Except my mouth waters for the food but I can't taste any!

Do they charge you for room service? What all is extra charged besides the alcohol. I had noticed (through TV not personal experience) taht a lot of cruise lines were starting to charge EXTRA for "upgraded" restaraunt experiences. BAH! Give me a break. that really gets my not-able-to-afford-a-vacation-so-it-doesn't-matter goat!

Room service is included, although you should tip the people who bring you your food. You do need to pay for soda, candy through room service, I think I am missing something.

You have to pay for alcoholic beverage, milk shakes, drinks from Cove Cafe, and sodas from the bars in addition to the alcoholic drinks. You have to pay for the snacks and drinks outside of the WD Theater. You have to pay an upcharge to eat at Palo. This rate varies depending on brunch, dinner, or high tea. All other food places are included.

Food and sodas are included on Castaway Cay, but you need to pay for alcohol and sodas at the bar.

You have to pay for pictures from Shutters. You also need to figure on paying tips for your room steward, and servers.

I think I hit everything, but may have missed something.

If you plan wisely you can get away without most of these charges. You can always get free non-alcoholic drinks from the deck 9 drink station. There is plenty of food available at no cost, that you can do without the snacks outside of the WD Theater, or Buena Vista movie theater. You can take food from other locations into the movie theater or WD theater.

I think I got everything although it is highly likely that I forgot something.

Acapulco

So today was our shortest time period in any port. Since we were only in this port until 1pm. We knew if we wanted to disembark, we needed to not sleep in until noon. We were thinking about going over to the fort directly across from the port. Well the time all the DISers were meeting it was raining.

So we stayed on the ship a bit longer, waiting to see if the weather would clear. Although by this time I was already getting to the point where I was thinking staying on the ship would not be a bad thing.

We did eventually decide to get off the ship for a short period of time as it stopped raining.

We started to head back to the ship. We did not stay out long, but wandered around some

Before we got back to the ship, a port authority employee stopped me and asked if he could have my lanyard as he collects them. I did end up giving it to him, as I had several other Castaway club lanyards. He was so excited to have a DCL lanyard. I was so glad that I could make his day.

It was of neat that we were greeted with a character when we got on the ship and left. We know they were not out there the entire time.

Car anyone?? There were loads of cars waiting by the port

Once back on the ship, we headed to Topsiders for lunch. We were going to join our tablemates for lunch outside. We are glad we chose not to as it started to rain cats and dogs sideways. Can I just say I was glad I was on the ship and not out in the rain.

The wind knocked the chair over
