Sorry Mermaid, but contrary to what kmiles says, I probably don't have your back today.

It's a GLORIOUS day! Inauguration Day! I'm not interested in arguing past history with those who can't learn from their mistakes. I'd rather celebrate!

What a historic day for the Republican party!

Ya know what I agree- It's a day to celebrate. I think I'll plan a special dinner and have my 7 year old get out the red, white and blue construction paper and glitter and make some decorations. Thanks for the inspiration Bet.... see you DO have my back! :cheer2:

Condescending? How? You voted for him, you support his policies. What's untrue about the post?

Why is it that you're attempting to run away from everything you've supported thus far? You voted for it, you own it.

I've asked the Bu$hies the same thing over and over and not one of them have ever given me a straight answer either.

If all you Bu$hies think the war is such a hot ticket, why aren't you all suited up and in Iraq? It's an all volunteer army and dubya needs you. Sign up your friends and family too.

Well, my DH and I are too old. BUT our son was there and he may be going back (he also voted for Bush). Is that good enough for you?

You've gotten volumes of straight answers. You just don't like the answers you get.

Just because people stop posting doesn't mean that you've "won" the argument.

Excellent! Good for you. I hope he returns to you safe and sound.

Now how about the rest of the Bu$hies?

Never had any interest in VOLUNTEERING to join the military, My dh had a heart condition and was ineligible for the military- My dh's best friend in the Air Force.... he's a boom operator on the KC-135's.... Not that ANYONE owes an explanation as to why they didn't VOLUNTEER to join the military.

So that is your idea of a straight answer?

Why aren't YOU emailing me from Iraq?

You have no idea about anything to do with my life and yet you choose to berate me for not being in Iraq because I support the war. Forgive me if I don't jump to explain myself to you.

.

Why do you think that? You support the war don't you?

If you support the war and dubya (who's asking for help) needs you, I don't think thats' unreasonable.

It's an honest question that you keep dodging. Why aren't you in Iraq?

You don't have to be in the military. Volunteer for the Red Cross in Iraq.

I hardly think the military needs a 37 year old woman who needs a hip replacement.

When you volunteer to join the military you do give up certain "rights"... for instance you don't get to decide where you live.... or when you have to go to war. That's just the way it is.... if you don't like it work to change it.

I do know someone who volunteered to work in Iraq.... he is making money hand over fist and loving it. His brother is in the Army and is in Iraq.... their mother is a die hard liberal and hates the choices her sons made. But they made them because here in this country we have that choice.

It is far from an honest question and frankly, it's none of your business why I'm not there. Your question implies that the opinions of those who support the war but are not over there fighting it are somehow not valid. That's insulting and absurd. I think giving aid to tsunami victims is a great idea, but I'm not over there distributing it. Does that mean my opinion is less relevant?

How inconvienient for you to give up those rights.

Just curious, how many rights do you lose when your body is blown to bits by a roadside device?

War is hell. I'm sure people who volunteer for the military thought of these things. Why don't you move to Switzerland? Just curious.

You know what I think is insulting? That in your book the war is great as long as somebody elses kid comes back in a body bag. That is an insult. Especially when Iraq is a war of choice.

As I said, you know nothing of my situation and yet you feel it's perfectly appropriate to berate me for it. Apparently you feel that respect is only warranted when others agree with you. That speaks more about you than it does me.

I never said I thought war was great or that it's great as long as someone else fights it. Enough of the drama.

Yes, war sucks. Yes, people die. It's awful. But that doesn't mean it's never necessary. You see this as a war of choice. That's your perogative. I don't.
