What sort of logic is that? Kennedy didn't have to fight in his Viethnam War. Roosevelt didn't have to fight in WWII. Truman didn't have to fight his North Korean War. Clinton didn't have to fight in Bosnia. What's your point?

And both of those former Presidents actually were honest with the world and the American Public. Both used war as a last result.

Isn't it ironic that the greatness of those two presidents actually helped the shrub in his attack on Iraq. The trust that they helped to build in the U.S. as a global leader of truth and justice actually helped our current president. Too bad America has fallen so fast, hard and far.

No, you ignore the reasoned debate and head right for the low road just as some on the other side do. Big difference. And if you can't honestly see what's snide and disrespectful about any of your posts, then there's not much else to say. It's fairly obvious. I'm not saying it's all coming from one side, but is that a good reason to perpetuate it?

By asking you to own your vote?

What did I include in the debate that isn't of much importance?

You're suggesting that I was snide in some way. I'm asking for clarification and yet you won't provide it. Hmmmm....

This must be logic in the bizarro world. This makes absolutely no sense.

FYI, John Kennedy and his brother Bobby fought in WWII.

FYI, Ted Kennedy served in the Army.

FYI, Harry Truman fought in WWI.

FYI, Roosevelt was too young to fight in the Spanish-American war, was married and had 3 children when WWI broke out, and then he contracted polio. However, his children did serve in WWII.

FYI, Clinton avoided the draft, and fighting in Viet Nam, just like George Bush, Dick Cheney, John Ashcroft, Paul Wolfowitz, etc.

A question.........did you fall off the pony and hit your head?

Just from most recent posts:

Of course not. Why would you? You voted. You sent men and women to die on both sides. Mission Accomplished, right?

A shrub supporter insulting someone's intelligence!

Thanks for the great laugh this morning.

You know, tell lies, start wars, act all confused when your lies are uncovered.

Does he need to? No, I don't think so.

I have a simple plan to bring an end to the troop shortage in Iraq. You voted for him, you go.

You feel strongly enough to defend this war? Do it with a gun and your un-armored body.

Don't worry! If you loose a limb (likely) you'll get to take part in those wonderful social programs Democrats have put together throughout the years.

No WMDs in Iraq. They lied.

If you wish to deny the facts that is most certainly your choice. It can't be an easy path but it is your choice.

BTW, you should report for duty no later than 3:00 PM today. I hear you'll be the first group into Iran. Good luck. Everyone know's you'll be needing it.

Great Maureen Dowd editoral in the NYT today. See http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/20/opinion/20dowd.html?oref=login
She can't do simple equations. She doesn't even know that X times zero equals zero. If you multiply 1,370 dead soldiers times zero weapons of mass destruction, that equals zero achievement for Ms. Rice, who helped the president and vice president bamboozle the country into war.

Was Condi out doing figure eights at the ice skating rink when she should have been home learning her figures? She couldn't have spent much time studying classic word problems: If two trains leave Chicago at noon, one going south at 20 miles an hour and one going north at 30 miles an hour, how far will each have gotten by midnight?

Otherwise, she might have realized that if two cars leave the Baghdad airport at noon on the main highway into the capital of Iraq, neither one is going to get there with any living passengers. Our 22 months at war have not added up to that one major highway's being secured.

It's lucky for Ms. Rice that she's serving with men who are just as lame at numbers as she is. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz couldn't be bothered to tally correctly the number of dead soldiers when he testified before Congress. And his boss, Donald Rumsfeld, didn't realize that using an autopen signature on more than 1,000 letters to the relatives of fallen troops added up to zero solace.

Our new top diplomat has obviously not mastered fractions. When she asserted during her confirmation hearing that 120,000 Iraqi troops had been trained, Senator Joe Biden corrected her, saying she was off by a bit. His calculation of trained Iraqi troops was actually 4,000 - hers was 30 times that. Maybe she's confusing hyperbole and hypotenuse.
The Condi lie about the number of trained troops is very disturbing. There is a large difference between the number of soliders acutally trained and the number claimed by Condi.

Condi is simply not up to the job. I understand that there will be 9+ hours of debate on Condi next week in the Senate. It should be fun.

Rice's numbers included police and other security personnel who are non-military.

Here's my responses:

True. If you voted for the shrub you support his policies and sent women and men to die. Am I wrong? Didn't think so! ;)

Responding in kind. Sorry, if I'm insulted I'm going to give it back. Doesn't make it right but neither does taking it without fighting back. ;)

True statement and responding in kind. That's exactly what this administration and its supporters have done.

True and

True.

Sorry but if you voted for him ship out. What's so snide about that? Why should someone else die for your vote? I know it's easier that way but it's not right.

Or is it a case of "sure! I support the war! I won't be maimed or killed so, why not? Yeah. And I'm the one being snide.

Lies to cover lies. Wow. What a great four years we'll have!

Wait, was I being snide again or are lies off the table too?

A majority of the American public is waking up to the facts. See http://nytimes.com/2005/01/20/polit...da3a4239372&hp&ex=1106283600&partner=homepage
The poll also found that 53 percent of Americans think the war in Iraq will not have been worth the loss of American life if unconventional weapons are never found.

A majority of respondents said that Iraq, which has been plagued by violence over the last week, is not secure enough to proceed with elections in two weeks, as scheduled.

However, the respondents are divided over whether the elections should be postponed in the hope of some sense of order being restored there.

In any event, only 15 percent of respondents said that elections would produce a decline in violence in Iraq; 40 percent said it would create more violence.
The Bush and Condi lies about WMDs do matter.

How dare you impugn my character and willingness to fight for this country. How DARE you insinuate that I'm cowardly because I support the war and am not in Iraq. HOW DARE YOU accuse me of taking this war lightly.

You know nothing of me and what I have done in the service of this country. How dare you judge me.

It takes a lot to get me riled up, but I'm sick and tired of people thinking it's ok to insult those who take a different position under the guise of political "debate." If you want to insult President Bush, fine. Condolezza Rice, fine. They're public figures. Constant criticism and even insults come along with the job. But don't you dare insinuate anything about my character because of the political positions I take. That, IMO, is beneath contempt.

Sorry, I stand by everything I've said.

You obviously feel strongly about going to war. So, go yourself instead of sending others to fight your fights.

As for this:

"How dare you impugn my character and willingness to fight for this country. How DARE you insinuate that I'm cowardly because I support the war and am not in Iraq. HOW DARE YOU accuse me of taking this war lightly."

Might I suggest writing Dr. Rice. I hear she was promoted because she told such good lies.

And, just for the record, I didn't insult you, call you names, "insinuate" anything, ANYWHERE! ;)

That would be fine but she did not mention that when she used these figures. This was still a lie by omission or failure to include the information necessary to keep her statement from being misleading.

You most certainly did. In the most contemptuous manner.

Oh, and I forgot to add, that whole post deservs one great big....

Fair enough. Just wanted to be clear on the discrepancy.

Just add it to that other "lie of ommission" Bush peddled to get us into the war in Iraq. The Bush adminstration made a concerted effort to link 9/11, Al-Qaeda, and Saddam Hussein. It worked and a majority of the American public believed Bush's lie. How did he lie? He failed to tell the complete truth to get his country into war.

A lie of ommision is still a lie.

Now go watch your master blow $40 M on crab cakes and champagne.

If Bush and Condi are so proud of their accomplishments in Iraq, why did Bush fail to mention Iraq in his speech??? see http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=4026855
US President George Bush made a resounding call for worldwide freedom today but made not a single mention of Iraq in his second inaugural speech.....

But in the first wartime inauguration for more than 30 years, the 43rd President did not specifically mention the war that has cost the United States 150 billion dollars (£80 billion) and claimed at least 1,300 American lives.
Senator Kerry is correct in that Condi has been a principal figure in a set of policies that have made the world less secure and safe. Here is an excerpt from the e-mail from Senator Kerry that I posted yesterday.
Dr. Rice is a principal architect, implementer, and defender of a series of Administration policies that have not made our country as secure as we should be and have alienated much-needed allies in our common cause of winning the war against terrorism. Regrettably, I did not see in Dr. Rice's testimony before our committee any acknowledgment of the need to change course or of a new vision for America's role in the world.
Bush is evidently so embarassed by his "accomplishment" that he did not mention in this speech.

Ok folks, let's keep the discussion going, but do so in a respectful manner. Personal attacks and attembts to get around the language filter will result in suspension of posting privledges.
