And I hate to burst your bubble, but the Republicans control all three branches of the government. I know it sucks to be so powerless (and after all, that's the bottom line here), but hey, keep on trying to peddle these same old tired arguments and see where it gets you.

(and by you, I don't mean you specifically, I mean the Democrats)

Ya know - I never considered either partisan side to be powerless. We all have the ability to change the world, country, ourselves. The fact that you take this attitude says a lot about you. Glad that you think that you can have power or control over the 49% of the people that voted against Pres. Bush. Interesting. Elite Conservative?

My goodness! For people that supposedly "won", you sure are an unhappy bunch of groupies.....:fish:

That koolaid high just doesn't last as long as it used to, huh?

I thank you to spell my name properly.

You the board moderator now? Where was the insult? I was complimenting flkhou for teaching his children disappointment early in life.

Funny how you can call Kyle - Kylie but no one can change the spelling of your name. Respect is earned Davy - show some and maybe you'll get some back.

That's all very high-minded and wonderful, but I can guarantee you that the elected Democrats feel the sting of their powerlessness. Washington politics is a high-stakes game, not just an abstraction.

I'm betting you can find someone to beat George W. Bush in 2008.

Considering your posts to others, that's about as hypocritical as it gets.

I know it sucks to be so powerless

I hate to burst your bubble...but for the moment we are all still free to participate in the process and none of us are powerless.

Being a thorn in the side of right wing nuts is a job I'll happily take on for the next 2 years.

It's disgusting that you think that citizens of this country being powerless would be a good thing.

I prefer to take it all with a grain of salt. I never thought the world would come crashing down if Kerry lost. Sure the checks and balances are somewhat skewed at the moment, but I have faith in our government and that eventually those checks and balances will be back. Say in 2 years maybe? Remember if there are not checks and balances then we no longer have democracy but a dictatorship. You can say I'm high-minded all you like but it sounds like you are the one on a power trip.

I never said it was a good thing or a bad thing.

And I have no problem with the opposition party being a thorn - that's their function. But I find it amazing that we're still arguing this same old crap. It's hard to take the thorn seriously when it has no substance.

Sure you can participate. But, with control of both houses and the executive branch, it's gonna be hard to do anything more than that. That's gonna be a pretty dull thorn for the next 4 years (I way four because unless the Dems get their act together and come up with a message that resonates with the masses, I don't see much happening differently in two years)

me either. The President doesn't have as much power as people think he does. That's by design.

I've been hearing this "Just wait until 2 years from now" since 2000.
