The Republicans never hesitated to call Bill Clinton a liar. But now the word "liar" is banned from political discourse? For goodness sake, this is a government, with checks and balances, not a frat club run by peer pressure. Boxter had every right to call Condi Rice out on these "gray" areas (or lies, for those feeling less charitable), and the public deserves the truth.

I rarely disagree with you, Snoopy, but the cabinet does appear to be run like a fraternity. Anyone who disagrees with the President isn't asked to pledge.

The ludicrousness & paranoia of some of these posts is laughable.

Carry on...

Well thanks for sharing! Next time either offer something of substance or walk away from the thread if you don't like the way it is going. Carry on....

According to your own words, it's up to Rice to prove she isn't a liar before apologies are due...

From dmadman....

Or, maybe there's one set of rules for you and another for everyone else?

Who was it that said you lack a sense of humor?

I don't think dmadman was actually watching the confirmation. Perhaps he was chasing the pony?

Is this the best you all can do? Sheesh!

Let's see, is it worse to be called a liar or stupid? Maybe starting a war because of stupidity is still a good reason to apologize? Just some things to ponder.

Without having read all of the replies- I got the impression that Barbara Boxer likes the sound of her own voice.
Condoleeza Rice is a VERY smart, VERY classy woman. Barbara Boxer ought to have been taking notes.

 that's because that's the only experience this guy has...fraternity like behavior...

I saw a quote in a local paper about Bush I thought was hysterical:

"Would someone please tell Emperor Bush that he doesn't have on any clothes."

I guess when you're backed into a corner and can't figure out how to get out of it, this is as good as any for a response.

I believe it was the same person who thought making sexually suggestive comments was a humorous thing to do. I suppose it just depends on what you think is funny.

Nice dodge, though.

How old are you?

I'm 25. How old are you? Seems that if it is good enough for you then it should be good enough for everybody else. See everyone is sort of getting tired of your BS. So we will just play the same games that you play.

Condoleezza Rice is smart, no doubt. She could talk a square into a circle. Senator Boxer refused to be talked in circles by her. Rice's flabbergasted response was just what "circle talkers" do when they are cornered.
Senator Boxer is a public servant doing her job for the American people.

Exactly!!! This isn't a tea party; these are two politicians behaving exactly the way I would expect them too. Barbara Boxer should be using strong language, the same as any other politician in DC. It's her job, and people elected her to the position. And if you believe Condi Rice is as great as her press from the right, then don't expect her to wilt if she's called a liar. She's about to take on a position of extreme power and influence; being called a liar should be the least of her worries, and if she can't answer the questions adequately, then she should decline the position.

Sorry about that; it's just the "thing" that gets me all riled up; opinion posing as facts.

Me too. It happens from both sides, unfortunately.

"Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts." -- Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan

I'm happy that I've managed to post on this topic and not divulge my political preferences!

Well said!! Goodness, when did we decide we want our representatives to all play nice nice and never disagree about the important issues facing our nation?
Was it maybe when this administration started equating disagreement with it's policies with being unpatriotic or even treasonous?

Speaking as a Californian to Senator Boxer: "You go, girl!"
