I have started packing and I know I have plenty of time to go over what I have in my bags I feel both like I packed way more than I will need and at the same time I feel like I am missing something Vital...For some reason I always end up packing too many shirts...I managed to narrow it down to 9 shirts for a 8 day 7 night stay...That was after i eliminated like 8 or 9...I have too many shirts that I really love. Mind you I am only taking 6 bottoms (including my swimskirt to go over my bathing suit for the days at the water parks.) I am going wacko trying to think of what i missed...I seem to have everything on my list but still feel like something was over looked... anyone ever have that feeling when they are packing?

Thanks for letting me vent...

Like you, I way over pack. Just got back from 8 nights. I put away about 4 shirts I didn't wear as well as 2 pairs of shorts. I keep telling myself that the next time I go, I will need to remember that it takes less than 1 hour to do a quick load of laundry if I need more clothes. And I brought 3 pairs of shoes. I only wore my sandals and my sneakers. If there hadn't been snow on the ground in VT when I left and returned, I could have gotten away with just my sandals. Besides, the resorts and shops sell most anything that I would need if I forgot something. My luggage was so heavy on this last trip that JetBlue weighed it and put a big red HEAVY tag on it!!! :earseek: Next time, I'll pack more conservatively :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have that every time I pack! I always overpack, and we're usually driving, so it's not that big of a deal. Now that we're up north and flying, we're bringing two bags each. (Spirit's web site gives pretty strict dimensions for each bag.) I like to pack more tops, even for my DS's, since if we come back to the resort in the afternoon, it's nice to change into a new shirt for dinner. My younger DS (15!) still spills on himself with great frequency, and I'd rather not do laundry, so I pack plenty of shirts for him especially! :flower:

You are getting the WDW trip jitters. ;)
If you forgot something, chances are you can buy it! :teeth:
I know it was always hard for us too, because we stayed on site. But it is amazing what you can buy. I think the only thing that would be great for WDW to have would be an on site pharmacy. Walgreen's, Osco, or whomever should pay to become a sponsor and open an on property store. They would make a fortune on that store alone!

And i also heard a town car service is stating a THREE large suitcases maximum per group. How many families travel with only three bags total for a WDW vacation!?

good grief what if there is 4 people in the family???? LOL!!! :rotfl:

everyone would have some serious squishin' to do. I am attempting to use a medium sized suitcase and medium sized leather duffle bag (since that is all i have access to :P) with only filling the duffle like half full so for room for purchases...Hope it works.

I am going crazy about this Dis Trip. I cant sleep every night I am up...4 times this week i have been up all night and not slept for more than 4 hours the next night. The other day I passed out on my bed when I got home from DBF's house and I don't remember anything. Apparently we had a whole phone conversation...none of which I recall...Tell me it won't get any worse?! :confused3 :rotfl2:

Why are you taking 9 shirts? You can only wear one at a time. It seems excessive to me. Why not take 4 and plan to do laundry? That's what we do. My DH went to England for 6 days with only one small suitcase apiece. With creative matching and washing undies in the sink, we did just fine. :cool1:

OK I guess I'm very different from everyone else but on vacation I dont want to do laundry. I tend to #1 have expensive clothes that I dont feel comfortable leaving in a laundry room and #2 dont want to sit around and waste an hour doing laundry. Plus Id rather have different clothes in all my picstures (helps to sort them later). Also I bring more clothes than days. What happens if you spill or youre in the parks all day and get sweaty? Do you really want to be forced to wear that shirt to dinner and what not just bc i was too lazy to carry the extra clothes in my suitcase. Pack on my friend...pack on!

O and I always bring lots of random clothes as well like sweatshirts and jeans bc hey you never know! Always be prepared!

The laundry facilites much better than what you'd expect from an ordinary laundry. I'm a morning person, so I woke up early (6:30am) and did laundry before the wife woke up. At AKL, there is a sitting room, with a resort TV and a coffee table with Disney Mags and newspapers. This is still a WDW Deluxe resort remember, not some crappy neighborhood laundrymat. The beauty is, we took one large bag (40 lbs. full) for the both of us and it worked out great. I also met a nice lady from New Orleans who was there escaping Marti Gras with her family. The laundry was done in about 45 minutes, no muss, no fuss.

O Ok maybe I confused you I have no problem actually using the facilities. Its the matter of being on vacation and either wanting to be in the parks, by the pool, or in bed...or eating of course. not sitting with laundry. But having nice stuff I also dont want to just leave it there. Maybe its the whole having just gradauted from college thing, but I had so much taken or thrown on the floor thats its really not worth it. its vacation. Pack enough (unless yorue going for 2 weeks) and jsut be done with it! I mean everyone does what works for them, that just works for me.

Don't forget that you will SHOP! Factor in wearing at least one of your new t-shirts when you pack!

I totally agree with PixieDust 23 - I hate doing laundry when at home, I certainly don't want to worry about it on vacation. When we went in September we took a break back at the resort every afternoon. It was so hot & humid that there was no way I could comfortably put back on sweaty clothes after swimming & a shower when going back out for dinner or to the parks. I frequently bring twice as many shirts as days I'll be there & almost as many bottoms. I also adjust assuming that I'll end up with a couple new shirts.

Aside from not wanting to do the laundry, I also don't want to wear the same 3 shirts in all my photos from a 10 day trip. Just my 2 cents! :teeth:

That's my motto-if I forget something, I'll just buy what I need! :teeth: I don't care to do laundry unless I have to. I have now learned to pack a little lighter knowing that I will, for sure, be buying some things. The biggest problem is packing the extras for the just in case times. Like someone mentioned, I also pack a sweatshirt, jeans and light jacket, just in case. :earboy2:

We go for more than two weeks at a time and I pack enough for a change of clothes every day and a few extra "just in case". I certainly don't want to do laundry whilst on holiday. Virgin Atlantic allow 2 x 32 kgs cases per person and we've never used more than 32 each...on the way over...the weight on the way back is another matter!!!!! :rotfl:

Why not take 4 shirts and plan to BUY some cool new shirts there?

This helped me.
I packed my "outfits" (shirt & shorts) in a gallon sized ziploc bag. You can squeeze the air out & it gets pretty small (easier to pack). You can pack enough "outfits" for each day of your trip. Then I did pack a few extra shirts in another bag & squeezed the air out. (I try to plan one & a half shirts per day) I unpacked at the resort, but I kept dd's in her bags so all she had to do was pull out a bag daily & there was no time wasted deciding what to wear!! Nothing was very wrinkled either!! The bags came in handy while we were there too!

i'm with ya, pixie! I am an overpacker, for sure. When i go to my parent's house, i have enough for 2 weeks!

I have pondered my upcoming trip, and at first thought i would try to keep the packing minimal. Then i realized that with 3 of us allowed to take 2 suitcases each, i can pack to the hilt. It calms my obsessive compulsive nerves to know that i will have enough of everything, even if i bring back a bunch of unworn clothes.

I'm flying down to Orlando next Saturday.. I'll be at WDW from the 2nd till the 5th - then head on up to my sisters house till the 16th..

I need to start thinking about packing and quite frankly, it's giving me a headache - LOL.. I was in Florida at my brothers house for a week - and my sisters house for a week - in February and I really did overpack.. The weather was so iffy, I had to bring something for "everything"..

Now I'm in a quandry what to bring this time.. Orlando is usually warmer than where my sister is, but I don't feel like doing the "something for everything" again..

I think I'm going to put my clothes together in "outfits" (like I did last time) but only bring enough for maybe 8 days.. Doing laundry at my sisters place is no big deal and I really don't want to overpack again..

I do think I'll bring an extra pair of sneakers though - just in case it rains while I'm in the parks and my other sneakers get soaked..

Wish me luck - and get back to me again next Friday to see what I REALLY packed! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I, too am an over packer, but getting better.

We drive so that helps. But me and guys have decided on 2 outfits for the parks, 1 outfit for the 2 days at water parks.

We may try to squeeze an extra half to full day at the parks so we may add one more outfit. We will use the laundry room, one time mid way thru the trip. I need as much room in the car for the return trip, souviners took over my car last trip. So the less we pack into only 1 or 2 cases the better.

Plus, the fact we are getting 2 rooms this time, each room will need a cooler. So even that will lessen my space.

Don't forget the undies!! DH went on an overnight business trip this past week and had to stop at a Wal-mart to get undies! Now he has a couple of new pair! (And no I did not help him pack!)
