Sell your state.

New Jersey:
1. the shore!!
2. the Italian food!!
3. the shopping!
4. the mountains
5. So close to NYC(up here by me anyway) to do all the fun things like museums and Broadway shows and Yankee games, but you get to live in leafy, lovely suburbia and not the city
6. EVERYTHING is close by(Bergen County, at least), if I have to drive 30 minutes it's too far. Happily everything I could want is within that time frame.
7. 3 airports within 45 minutes
8. LOTS of job opportunities
9. DINERS
10.Great medical care
11. Spring, summer and fall are fantastic, and winter, while it sucks, isn't bad compared to other places
12.education here is top notch
13. Diversity
14. There's a reason it's so crowded here--because NJ Rocks!:cool1:

New Jersey

The shore!
We know where Jimmy Hoffa is buried.
Bruce Springsteen.
Bon Jovi.
Ian Ziering (ok, just kidding).
24-hour diners.
Jug handles.
Italian Restaurants (none of that Olive Garden crap).
No self-serve gas stations.
No matter where you live, you can be at a mall in 10 minutes.
We are radioactive and proud of it.

:rotfl:
I forgot the gas stations--that's reason #1 why I will never move. LOL

Plus, everyone makes fun of you, so you get a thick skin(and we know the truth, so it's fun to snicker at people who don't know any better);)

Illinois

We have soybeans.
We have corn.
We have more soybeans.
We have Chief Illiniwek. Wait, no we don't.
We have the City of Chicago - a world-class city with a brilliant but hilariously inarticulate mayor.
We have Starved Rock - natural beauty with an ugly story.
We have a former governor who had his hand in the till and still was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
We have corn. Come see our corn.

ETA - How could I forget? We also have Abraham Lincoln and all things Abraham Lincoln. Visit Springfield and see the best presidential library/museum ever!

North Carolina

1. Mountains on one side-beach on the other
2. The Tarheels
3. Home to Pepsi, Cheerwine and great BBQ
4. It seems everyone wants to move here
5. We Rock!!!

Funny that we both mentioned a lot of the same things!! I went to college in Maryland, and went to get gas and didn't know how to pump it myself. I asked for help, and the attendant came over to show me how to do it. He also looked at my NJ license plates and just laughed.

Kentucky:

1) Lowest dental bills in the country since we have no teeth.

OK-just kidding

1)Horses-everything from the Derby in Louisville to Keeneland in Lexington to the KY Horse Park along I75. Some of the most scenic farms in the country are located in Central KY.

2)Lake Cumberland-one of the largest inland lakes in the country when filled-unfortunately the dam is leaking and the water level is lower this year. Great relaxing weekends are found here in the summer.

3)Toyota-if the largest automaker in the world finds KY to be attractive enough to build it's largest plant here, it must not be that bad of a place. The tours are free too.

4)Location. location, location. Over half of the country's population lives within a days drive of central KY. If we don't have what you want here, it's not too far away. We have many scenic lakes and rivers, head east for mountains and hiking, head south and southwest for Dale Hollow and other lakes.

5)Louisville-has all of the big city amenities with a small town feeling. The zoo is nice, Six Flags has a park there, the Louisville Slugger museum is located downtown. Not a bad place to visit.

6)For the women, George Clooney was born here.

Do you think this is enough to get Billy Donovan back to Lexington where he belongs?

For Kentucky, I'll add a few...

1. Mammoth Cave State Park. Mammoth Cave is really, really cool and the tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable and interesting.

2. Red River Gorge. Some terrific hiking, natural arches, and beautiful scenery.

3. Bluegrass Music! It's soooo different from country music, I hate country music. Bluegrass festivals are a lot of fun, with great music and super food.

4. I will second the Louisville item mentioned above. I may be partial but I think Louisville is one of the best cities I've ever visited/lived in. The people are friendly, laid back, and happy. If you visit Louisville be sure to go to a RiverBats baseball game, hit Cherokee Park and stroll around the Highlands, and eat at Wick's Pizza!

Sorry, but today is not a good day to ask me to promote Maine. It is snowing. It is snowing hard. All I see is white. We're expecting up to 6 inches of snow. Yesterday, I could see the ground, and actually believed spring was on the way. Today I cannot and I no longer believe.:sad2:

Ask me again in July.

Washington

1. Ski in the mountains or stare at the Pacific Ocean - all in the same day!

5. Yosemite National Park

Louisiana:

1. Humidity-it keeps your skin from drying out so you don't get wrinkles until you're old.

2. French Quarter-hands down the best historic district anywhere, except for Bourbon St.,which leads to #3

3. Bourbon St-you have to experience it at least one time.

4. Laid back attitude-Californians have to work at being this laid back .

5.Hurricanes-the drink from Pat Os not the Katrina kind.

6. Mardi Gras -Party hearty

7. You can swim from March -November.

8. Lawns stay pretty.

9.You can grow just about anything.

10.Food-Yummy!!!It's no wonder there are so many fat
people.

11. Fishing,crabbing,shrimping are great.

12. During Lent when you can't eat meat on Fridays,we eat fresh seafood.

I hear ya. I was thinking that this is such a cool question, but I can't answer it now. Not while we are getting 6-10 inches of snow in April. :sad1:

1. Mexican food
2. Beaches
3. Northern and Central Cali is beautiful!
4. Disneyland!
5. Sunny weather

However, I can think of many other reasons not to live here too, so maybe I'm the best person to sell my state!
