Hi -

I am curious if there is an area on the boards where I can sell unused tickets? I purchased 3 passes through undercover tourist and ended up booking a package directly through Disney, so I have extra tickets. They were never opened or removed from the plastic they came in. I know I can return them to UCT but am hoping to avoid the penalty. Anyone have advice?

Thanks!

Laurie

No-there is no selling allowed on this board.

OK, no problem. Thank you!

Has anyone had experience reselling unused tickets? Am I better off returning them to UCT?

Even the discussion of selling them isn't allowed, as it violates Disney policy. If you can return them, do that.

You can't sell them here, but selling unused tickets does not violate Disney policy. Only partially used tickets.

I would just return them. We have heard of some scammy things going on with people who purchased tickets from individuals (complicated scams on the seller).

I apologize. I'm in CA and usually on the DL boards. We are NOT allowed to sell them here, maybe FL is different? Our tickets specifically say not for re-sale and can't be sold by anyone other than Disney or someone with an official Disney relationship. We aren't allowed to talk about it over there and I assumed it was the same here. Sorry!

I am thinking that returning them is safest for me, to be honest. I just hate to see the deal go to waste, and the penalty kills me! Ah well, lesson learned :)

If you expect that you may go again to WDW some time in the future, just save them. Unused WDW tickets do not expire. The expiration clock only starts the first time you use them for a Park entry.

You better double check that you have no expiration dates. We have to pay extra if we want the non-expire option. Don't assume they don't expire just because they are unused. WDW has types of tickets that expire even if you never activate them. My middle son has such a ticket. If your tickets don't expire, that gives you the option of saving them.

I don't know how big the penalty is, but I foresee a trust problem in selling them unless you personally knew the people. If you found a buyer, they are going to want a deal, otherwise they'd go through Disney or another source. There would be no advantage for them to buy through an individual and take that risk. You're still losing money in this scenario, and maybe more than the penalty for return. I don't know if you'd considered all that, but it seems to me that taking a penalty for a refund is a better bet.

Are these some special kind of promotional ticket? I've bought tix from UCT & Ticketmania but never had any that started counting down to expiration before they're even activated.

We did participate with the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day promotion a few years ago where you could volunteer in your own community & get a free 1 day ticket to WDW. IIRC, it had to be used by the end of the year so we booked for March to be on the safe side.

JMHO, I would never buy tickets from a stranger, partially used or completely unused, even if it were allowed. There's just too many scammers out there.

1. The only tickets sold which have expiration dates on them are special deeply discounted ones, usually through group sales. These include Youth, Sport, Convention, and Run Disney.

2. These can easily be seen as they will have a "not valid before" date or a "not valid after" date or both.

3. The "no Expire" option should only be purchased if you expect to use the tickets over two or more complete trips; otherwise it is a useless expense.

4. Because of others having this misunderstanding as you have, Disney no longer sells No Expire tickets online. You have to be able to talk to a real person to buy the NE option.

Buying no expire tickets still shows up as an option for me when I book through the Disney World Specials page. Wonder if that's just an oversight, because it doesn't show up as an option if I book through the standard entry page - just through the specials.
