Sell me on Frozen Ever After

I liked Maelstrom. FEA is cute, but I wouldn't use an FP on it in your situation. If the standby wait is short and you want to ride and close your eyes to pretend its Maelstrom....go for it.

Honestly, I think FEA is great! I was apprehensive about it at first, but I really like it. It has a real artistry to it and the animatronics are very nicely done. The Let It Go scene is awesome! Now, I generally like Frozen for the most part, though it's not my favorite, but I still adore the ride and the queue. If you really don't like Frozen, especially the music, then you may not like it, but I'd say there is no harm in trying it. You never know, right?

I've never seen the movie (not a fan of Let It Go :crazy2: but the ride is OK. We get same day FPs if they are available when we are nearby and surprisingly we ride quite often.

Our trip isn't until March, so I have a lot of time to plan my FP+ usage. For our Epcot days, I don't see any reason to do FEA, for the following reasons:

1. My boys (ages 7 and 5) have never seen Frozen, so they don't have any attachment to the characters.
2. I went on Maelstrom quite a few times when I was growing up and have great memories of the ride and am still a little (ok, a lot) bitter that it got replaced.
3. I don't remember Maelstrom being a particularly long or thrilling ride at the time, so I don't know if FEA would really be worth doing as a ride, unless you were really into Frozen.
4. My boys do like TT and Mission Space, so there are other uses for our FP+.
5. My wife *hates* the songs from the movie Frozen.

Is there something I'm missing? Is there anything so compelling about the ride that I should ride it regardless?

I would honestly say it might not be worth a fast pass on; perhaps worth trying if you walked by and there was no wait! I was so sad to see Maelstrom go, and pretty anti-Frozen Ever After until I rode it. My then 1.5 year old daughter fell full on in love fast with all things Frozen thanks to that ride. I appreciate it now because of her love of it. (And we had never seen the movie before this ride; a year and a half later Frozen is still her favorite Disney movie.)

I enjoy the queue area much more than the ride itself.
Seriously? The only time I did this ride was shortly after it opened. We couldn't get a FP+ and decided, what the heck, we'd stand in line. For maybe 100 minutes or more. The only interesting part of the line is near the end of it. Until then, you're in a dark room with a zillion switchbacks, no entertainment, and zilch to see or do. Did they change something?

My sister and I joked that they could easily have played the entire movie, projecting it onto a wall or the ceiling, while we were waiting.

ETA: OP--No way would I waste a FP+ on this ride. Or even go on it again. And I loved Malestrom!

So, you have plenty opinions on the ride so far.
BUT
I think this might be relevant:

You might wanna see the movie with the boys. It's definitely not BAD.
Why should you see it with them?
Because:
The Frozen Sing Along at Hollyweird is pretty flippin good. I have a feeling your wife might like it because it pokes fun at the movie. It's as good as many ppl say it is. I laughed way more than I thought I would.

You can easily pick this up as an additional FP day after you burn through your 3. TT should be your prescheduled Tier 1. Soarin is also easy to get. We thought it was cute and even the teenage boys didn't mind it (will never admit that) and got additional FP multiple times for it. Honestly, the pickings are slim in Epcot right now so I'd go for it and give your wife earplugs :)

And that Frozen Sing along in HS, it is a hoot. Loved by all in our family, even the Frozen haters. We have watched a lot of Frozen because the grandkids love it (girl 8, boy 5).

I want to second @chris benton on the DHS "Frozen" sing-along. I am mweh on the predictable movie (although I like the songs), but busted a gut at the sing-along. So watch the movie once. Maybe the sequel won't suck, and you could see that, too.
The ride is OK. I thought the animatronics were awful, except Olaf. Surely, those who liked it are not including the weird facial projections on Elsa? Surely those who are calling it "best" have not been to California Adventure and ridden Radiator Springs Racers and seen the AMAZING "Cars" animatronics?

OP--Perhaps I'm not the right person to talk to about this. I thought the singalong was heinous. And super boring.

it's all right. We do miss Maelstrom and we're not crazy about frozen although we've seen it once. We still feel frozen really doesn't belong there. But it's a good ride and well done, and conclusive proof that Elsa is a troll. it is better than the sing a long though, which is loud and somewhat annoying (but still good)

I'm going to second a thumbs up for the sing along at DHS (though still not FP worthy) buy certainly stop in if theatre is open & seating when you walk by. I was pleasantly surprised, as I'm not a fan of the movie.

As far as the ride? I don't think you need talked into seeing it when you've already made a strong case list against it. All part of each party's decision making process when making plans. Just go with what you want. Not much sense in your party making the line longer for those who really want to ride. Seems like you'd have preconceived notions you wouldn't like it. I doubt anyone in your group would admit the even enjoyed it a little bit, probably taboo.

OTOH, if your group is open to being pleasantly surprised too & has open minds with more of a 'let's try everything Disney has to offer' attitude & your schedule allows you to reach further down your 'would like try' list...then give it a try. Its not life changing if you ride it...or if you don't.

The sing a long is a tremendous break. If you need to get out of the heat or the rain for about 20 minutes, it's great.

As a show in-and-of itself? Not so much.

It's just a personal opinion.

With what you have listed above - skip it. Line is long and with no attachment to Frozen and dislike for the music this is not the ride for your family.

On the Sing-a-Long notes - I like the movie and I find this attraction at DHS barely tolerable. It is a place to sit and get out of the heat - the chairs are very comfy and conducive to a nap ;)

I never recommend skipping something you've never done. Everything is worth trying once. While it may not be worth an hour long wait, on slower days you can find 20-30 minutes waits aren't uncommon. It also adds a little something to the walk around the World Showcase. It definitely won't be a waste of your time. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I didn't have an emotional attachment to Maelstrom, but I was suffering from Frozen Fatigue when it opened. I like to try all the new attractions at least once before deciding if it's a skip or not.

I actually really enjoy rope dropping FEA and stopping at Kringla Bakeri for breakfast afterward. It's a pleasant morning at Epcot, I find. Especially since TT can be down sometimes, and as much as I love Soarin', the queue is a nightmare, so I choose to FP and single ride TT. That's how I do the big three at Epcot. :)
