We have stayed at the BCV's for the last 3 yrs and want to do a split stay this year at either: AKV, BLT or THV in addition to the BCV's.
Obviously, not many can give me feedback in regards to BLT or THV but I would appreciate any likes/dislikes towards AKV's. My kids would love the locale. How bad is the transportation? Do you love the furnishings?/over BCV's? Pool?...is Kidani built yet?
We love BCV's for the location and will end our 2 wk trip there. We want to stay somewhere "new" for the first 4 or 5 days. Help us pick!........:)

I don't think someone can 'sell you' on a resort. There will always be people that like and those that dislike the same resort. AKL is a beautiful resort with a very unique theme. I love the room decor, but it is very dark, and the lighting in the rooms is dark compared to some of the other resorts. I also have friends who do not like the rooms there at all.

You are kind of out of the way at AKL compared to BWV or BCV, where you can easily walk to HS and EPCOT or hop the boat. Personally, I don't mind AKL, because it is 'away from everything' and you feel like you have stepped in to another world.

Good luck with your decision. I would say look at the pics of the rooms and the resort and decide if you like it. If you do, then just plan on allowing extra time for the transportation.

Kidani opens May 1, we are staying there the second week of may, and is our last DVC resort to stay at. We are spending one less day at the parks so we can explore the resort. I would say if your kids would love AKL then go for it.

I can't help you either.

I am one for trying a new resort. I want to try them all. So far we have stayed at OKW, BCV, and BWVs. They are all special and great in their own way. Whichever resort we are in, I miss the other resorts I am not staying in terribly.

This August we are trying AKV (SV/Kidani) and HH. I can't wait. We are thrilled to be there and would probably be happy with all of them.

It is tough deciding though. Good luck and keep us posted either way.

I like doing 2-3 days at AKV, I am not sure I would be happy doing longer (of course I get bored if I am at any resort for more than 5 days). With the animals and new pool (after 5/1) if you have never stayed there I would put it on the top of your list if you can get a SV, especially with the age of your children.

We are doing 3 days in a Jambo SV studio this June at the beginning of our trip.

I do not know if this is typical but when we stayed there the drapes were closed when we entered the room so have your camera ready for pictures of the children when you open they up and they see the savanna.

When I do a split stay, AKV is often one of the resorts. It's so different, and staying there makes the whole vacation extra special. My March trip is 1 night at AKV with DSis, 4 nights BWV with DGFs, and back to AKV concierge for 3 nights with DH!

Solo trip in June, 1 night BCV, 3 nights AKV, Jambo. I find Jambo very convenient and I like the food at Mara very much.

I was in WDW in September, 3 nights VWL, 3 nights AKV, 3 nights BCV. AKV is nearly always in my mix!
