Now that they have switched us from DLH to GCH, I am re-asking some of my questions! :thumbsup2
What type of laundry self-service is there at GCH? Where are they and how many washer/dryers are there?

We've never had to do laundry at DLR before, but we are going on a 10-day trip and the suitcases are very f u l l !! ;)

Thanks!

Guest Laundry at the GCH is in the wing of the hotel that is near the DCA entrance. It's basically in that corner above Napa Rose/Storytellers. If you go in those doors right next to Napa Rose, take the elevator to the 2nd floor, take a left off the elevator, and then another left, and there you are.

We were just there in January and I did laundry several times...I want to say there are about 6-7 washers, and probably 8-10 dryers (the stacked kind of dryers). I found that going EARLY was the best bet to get a washer (although we were there during a fairly busy time). The machines don't take quarters...you have to use tokens, and there is a token machine right there than can exchange bills for tokens (I don't think it exchanges quarters for tokens, because I had brought a bag of quarters, and had to send my DD and DH to the front desk to get bills instead).

If I recall correctly, washers were $2. I can't remember how much the dryers were, but I do remember that the dryers worked well...they actually dried our jeans on the first round, without having to put in additional money.

We brought our own detergent and dryer sheets, but they do sell them (pretty pricey though).

Hope that helps.

Very helpful, thank you so much! We would probably do laundry in the evening, was it really busy then? We will be staying at GCH the first week of March, so hopefully it is a less crowded time.
Thanks again!:thumbsup2

If you are staying in the VGC on points, the front desk will give you tokens for free.

There are 6 washers and 12 dryers:

A second laundry room was added during the VGC expansion, with 2 washers and 4 dryers. This room is on the first floor near the villas. Guests of both the villas and hotel my use this room (or anyone since the door is not locked) :goodvibes

Awesome, thank you!!

Wifi isn't so good you have to walk over to one of the smaller sofa settings an elevator ride up or down ... There is a small table. It's better than DLH which has no one where to sit in or out.

Uh-oh, that was how I was going to con DH into staying with the laundry. ;)
