Just wondering.....I understand the weight limit on those things is 250lbs. As you get closer to that weight limit, how does the Segway behave? Does it slow down a lot, let's say, if you are 230lbs as opposed to a delicate young lady that weighs in at 110lbs?

Good question! I would love to hear an answer on this as we are doing the segway, and I am by no means a delicate 110lb-er!

DH & I are close to those weights (240lbs & 120lbs). We did the Segway Tour in April. The 2 differences we saw were that I (lower weight) was able to go a little faster & DH's battery ran down faster. (there was still plenty of battery power to complete the 2 hour tour)

DH was close to the limit and had no problems at all. He was still able to go fast enough to make the govenor kick in.

DH and BIL did the tour last Feb and both are definitely within the 220-250 range (maybe even a little over). All I can say it, they had a blast and loved it. SO, if it did slow them down a bit, not enough to slow down the fun.

This is very interesting - I had no idea that Segways had a weight limit. My DH is over this limit and he really wants to do the Segway tour. I will have to gingerly try to talk him out of this so I don't make him feel sad by telling him he's to heavy.

As an FYI for those on the other end of the scale, there is a weight MINIMUM of 100 lbs. Below that, the Segway sensors won't work (at least for the WDW Segways).

FYI: Just in case.

The segways are not strenous activity at all but bear in mind you will be standing for 2 hours and that is in the same place. You really don't "shift" your weight alot on the segway cause it off balances you, and you cannot lift up your feet and move them either, very difficult. The segway tour is also hard on your ankles if you have weaker ankles for any reason. You hold your ankles rather ridgidly.

After our segway tour I was surprised how tired I was, of course this was after several days of walking around wdw. ;) too! I'm a nurse and used to standing / walking all day, but in 1 spot and not moving my feet after a while really gets to you. :earseek:
