Was thinking about trying a segway tour one day and was wondering how this worked. How much is it? Is it just at EPCOT? Where do you sign up?

Oh yeah...

It is 80 dollars per person and this is the number to call to book it

(407) WDW-TOUR OR
(407) 939-8687

This is definitely worth the money. Lots of fun. If you have AAA you get a discount. I think we paid $68 per person. Have fun!

:sunny: Hi

The segway tour is great :cheer2:. We did it in November and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

You start off with about 45mins in a classroom by the side of innovations they nickname segway central. Here they teach you how to ride them safely. Once everyone is okay the head out around world showcase stopping at each pavillion giving you a guided tour. At Italy they coned off an area for you to ride around and take pictures (you cant take them as you are riding for safety reasons)

Great fun :Pinkbounc

Do you pre-pay for this when you make your ressie or pay the day of?

You pay when you book the tour. If you own an AP- tell them, you get a discount.

Please try doing a search, there have been several other posts exactly like this.

If you dont mind the "ducks in a row" thing, you will love it.

My husband loves those things :earsboy:

We saw one for the first time last year at Epcot and he always talks about wanting to try one out. I'll have to book a tour for our trip this July!

We did the Segway Tour on Valentine's Day. It was so much fun - we are still talking about it. I paid $68 per person with my AAA discount. I was charged when I booked the tour.

I can highly recommend.

Your legs will be tired afterwards. It takes more strength than you realize to ride those things for an extended period of time.

Thanks everyone. This sounds like a blast & I'm going to go book it.

We're booked to go on the Segway Tour at the end of the month. You get a discount if you have AAA, an AP, your a DVC member, or if you have a Disney Visa.

and it was great! I know I would definitely do it again. We paid $68 each with the AAA discount. There are 2 tours daily: 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM. We booked the 8:30 AM tour. During this time, the WS is empty except for CM's getting it ready for the day. During the 9:30 tour, there will be a 30 minute period when guests will be in the WS. You will be asked to arrive 15 minutes before your tour to check-in. Check-in is done at Guest Relations just past Spaceship Earth, near the Electric Umbrella. As mentioned before, there is a 45 minute or so training period in Innoventions. You get a short break and then head out to the WS. For the most part, you are in single file with CMs in front and back of your group. There is a 15 minute or so "free period" when they will gladly take pictures for you, so take your camera. At the end, you receive a very nice commemorative pin.
DISer "sharktums" posted this link to their excellent Segway Tour video here on the boards: sharktums' Segway video. Look about 1/2 way down the page on the left for their photo and click on their "Segway Around the World" link. After a few moments, you should get a "segway.mpg" icon. Click on that to open the link and start the video.

I can't say enough good things about the Segay tour. Do it, you won't be disappointed!!!

See pic below from our Feb. '05 trip. Great fun!

Ditto the above posts. Worth every penny!

No one mentioned, yet... at the end, you get a collector's pin. You can only get them by taking the tour.

And if you're not into collecting pins, first... what's wrong with you?!? Second, you can recoup some of your Segway cost by selling it on eBay. They usually fetch a good price. I've heard rumors of $40+ for them!

I was wondering if anyone with back problems has done this...I'm a bit afraid that I won't be able to have the strength or will aggravate my back with the long standing. I know that my DH would LOVE to do this tour, but I'd hate to have long-standing problems because I stressed out my back.

Anyone?

When we had done our tour, there was an older woman (maybe in her 60's or so), who had knee troubles. Although the CM's worked with her, it was difficult for her to step up onto the Segway, and harder to maintain her balance when she was on.

The CM's were very nice, and really tried to help her get acclimated, to no avail. She was not able to participate, and I'm 99% sure she got a full refund.

If you've never been on a Segway before, BELIEVE ME, you need the training! It is NOT as easy as you might think. With no experience, I think it would be extremely difficult to just "hop on" and go. Having said that, once you get over the learning curve - it is a BLAST! The CM's do an awesome job going over everything and training everyone.

I'd say give it a whirl. If you can't "pass" the training because of your back, I'm sure you would be refunded. (Here's hoping you ARE able, though!!!)
