Anyone try out the segway tour yet? I signed up last nite. AP passholders get a 15% discount. ;) It sounds kinda fun. Only 10 people a day get to try it out, and the tour last only 2 hours. Hope I can do this :crazy: Should be kinda fun.

Anyone with experience, appreciated! ::MickeyMo

This tour was one of the best things I have EVER done at WDW and I have done lots of fun things. It is so unique and different. The first part of the class is training and orientation. they show a short video and explain all about your Segway. Then it is on to an indoor training session where you meet your Segway and learn how to get on and off. They then have you go forward and back, turn and run an oval and slalom course. After that it is outside for ramp training. Once you are comfortable with all of that you head out to World showcase for the outside part of the tour. It is just so cool to ride through Future World in a line of 10 with your trainers and have guests wonder what you are doing. Once in World Showcase they pick up the pace a bit and you see just how fast 5 mph really is. When they get to Italy there is a wide open space where you can really let loose. That is the first of 2 picture spots. The second is on the bridge between France and England.

When you get back and the tour is over they now have a PIN! All in all I highly recommend this tour and I for one can't wait to do it again!

My DH and I are signed up for May 21st. I bet it will be the highlight of our trip!

and how much does it cost? My hubby would love this. Also is there a minimum age?

Are the picture spot where they take pictures of you to buy like on some of the rides? Or where you can take pictures? My DH will be going on the tour alone, I will have DD2 and DD6 to hang out with. I was hoping to get a few photos of him on it. SHHH it's a surprise for his birthday (June) for our "surprise the girls" trip in Sept.

TIA

The picture spot is for people to take thier own personal pictures with thier camera. I am sure somoene else on the tour would snap a couple of pictures or the gude will most likely.

Sicne the tour part is World Showcase when it is closed to other guests you would not be able to take pictures. If you waited by the training building, you would be able to get a couple as they leave to go to the back of the park or when they return.

WOW, thanks for the info! This sounds really exciting. I can't wait! We have never done any wdw tour's, so this is our 1st!

Thanks again, MKY princess:

I just took this tour on Sunday, May 2nd. It was great! We trained indoors then did some up and down pathway training outdoors then headed to the Showcase, while at the showcase, we went up a down many of the garden pathways until we came to Italy where we stopped for pictures that where taken with our camera by our guide, Greg. This is the best place to take a picure because SE is right across the lagoon.

I did take a very nasty fall during my tour. I was very lucky to be wearing a helmet and to not be seriously injured. Please be careful and mindful of your wheelbase and where the wheels are especially on the paths. I clipped the edge of a curb at the end of a path and flipped the Segway on its side. I landed with teeth rattling thud on my back, pulling the Segway on top of me. The guides could not have been at my side any faster and they were very concerned. They stayed with me, made sure I able to and wanted to continue to ride.

You are give the opportunity to leave at the first boat dock, if you are not comfortable and we did lose two of our group, but I was not one of them! I continued my journey and had a great time.

If you are going in the next week or so, please tell Greg that Mary and Roy said hello and that Mary is bruised but okay!

You'll love the tour. Just don't expect too much behind the scenes stuff. It's mostly a chance to ride the Segway. I was in the third class to do the tour in February. Still haven't been able to talk my DW into buying one! She said I could get a Segway in lieu of our planned trip to WDW in Feb 2005. Tough choice, but I went with the vacation!

Have fun! You're going to love it!!
