I booked the segway tour of Epcot as a surprise for my friend's birthday. Was wondering what people thought of this tour?

I've never done the tour myself, but the general concensus is that the tour is 100% fun and awesome.

You get to be in the World's Showcase before it even opens (depending on if you're in the earlier tour or not), and you're riding on one of the coolest technology!

I'm currently planning a trip with a few friends and family, and the segway tour is definetly on the top of my to do list!

I should probably say I booked the longer segway tour the one that is 80 dollars, and not the simple segway.

This one of my favorite things at WDW!! I've taken the tour 3 times now...I think some people think I'm a little weird to do that, but I love riding those Segways! And where else can you enjoy a deserted World Showcase while riding one of the coolest inventions ever??

I highly recommend it! And don't forget that you can get a 15% discount if you have an Annual Pass, are a DVC member, a member of AAA, have a Disney Visa card or are a Castmember.

I would also recommend the earlier tour, since World Showcase will be closed the entire time you are out there.

Have fun!!

I did this tour with my husband and our 2 best friends during christmas week and it was such good fun. They are really easy to master and you have great fun touring the World Showcase, going over the bridges in Japan, around the shop area in Morocco and around the little maze at the side of the American Adventure.

Next time we go to WDW we will definately book this tour again.

DH and I had so much fun on this tour that we ended up doing it a second time. :thumbsup2

DS (16), DS's friend (also 16) and I are doing this tour next month (I love saying that our trip is next month  ) for the first time. DS has been DYING to do this tour. I think he was more excited when he turned 16 that he could do this tour than the fact that he could drive a car :rotfl2: ! At first just the boys were going to do it, but DS talked me into going too. I'm just happy that he still likes spending time with his ol' mom  . 48 days and counting until we're back "home"!

We loved it! There are lots of ways to get a 20% discount though: DVC, AP, AAA or Disney Visa are all applicable. HTH!

BTW, we did it as a suprise for my dd's bday, and they gave her a birthday button when we checked in at guest services. Make sure you ask for one too!

My husband and I did this tour a week ago today. It was great. Did you book the two hour Around the World Tour? If so you do an hour in the classroom and then an hour out in the park mainly in the Worldshowcase area. We had a great time.

Make sure you have them take ID. My daughter had to show her driver's license, and I think if she hadn't had it, they wouldn't have let her take the tour!!!

They stressed the need for photo ID with DOB when I made the reservation, so I have that on my packing list (which is an Excel spreadsheet, I'm weird that way  ). Man, did I have a stressful day at work today :badpc: . I just closed my eyes for a few minutes and imagined myself in my happy place :cloud9: . 47 more days and I'll REALLY be in my happy place  !

Has anyone done Simply Segway? (The shorter experience)

I have not, but I saw an earlier post about it, and the OP said they really regretted not doing the longer tour. With the Simply Segway, you just get to learn how to ride in a back room. With the longer tour, you get that, then an hour to take the Segway around WS. The poster said the hour of "practice" was like a teaser, and now they plan to do the longer tour anyway! I booked the longer tour for my DH and two DSS -- they are SO excited!

Four of us did the Around the World on a Segway tour (2 hours) last Tuesday and it was totally awesome! We ranged in age from 47 to 65 and had a great time. The instructor, Jeanne, was wonderful and the instructor/guide, Carol, was great too. With the discount, we paid $68 each and it was well worth it. I was very anxious about the tour, but left loving it! We also did the 8:30 am tour so our time in the World Showcase would be before opening time. I would not do the one hour Simply Segway because after the 45 minutes of "learning" we all were so excited about riding the Segway outside; that was the best part! Our next trip will be June 2007 and our son will be old enough to do the tour, so we are hoping they are still offering it then as we plan to do it again no matter what the cost; it was that good! And, you get a special Segway pin that is only given to people who do the tour! It was truely one of those special Disney experiences that we will never forget!

Oh my gosh it was the best fun at disney we have ever had!!!!

I totally agree. The Segway Tour was the most fun we've ever had at Disney!

I have been thinking about booking this tour as a surprise for my 16 year old son. We are going in June and he will turn 16 in May and will not have his driver's licence yet. They are very far behind at his high school! Will a state ID work as ID. Do you have to pay when you book the tour?

Thanks

I'm sure a state ID would work fine; they most likely will take your word on his age. Yes, they require payment at time of booking; I believe the cancellation policy was 48 hours prior for full refund. It was a fantastic experience.

Thanks! I know he is just going to love it! He lives to skateboard athough I think that might end when he gets his DL :) My only problem will be keeping it a secret until we get to disney!
