Seeking view request suggestions! (BWV and VGF)

[Boardwalk III]

Hi all,

Usually stay at BWV with Boardwalk view as I can usually plan ahead at 11 mos out. However I have two trips coming up this year with different situations and am hoping for recommendations. First is a stay in April at Boardwalk with a 1 BR garden/pool view. I think I recall once having that view and requesting a view of the Village Green in order to have a partial Boardwalk View , am I remembering that correctly? Would that work for a 1 BR? And if not, any other suggestions?

Secondly, staying at Grand Floridian in July with a 1 BR standard view. I believe we had this view once as well but can’t recall the request...think that we could see partial MK fireworks from the room. I’m thinking it might have been a request for a pool/resort view, does that sound right? I’m trying to avoid a parking lot view if it all possible.

Finally, I used to try going through the resort room-assigner a week or so ahead of check-in to remind them of any special room requests but haven’t found that to be too helpful. I read recently on the boards that many people put room requests in through DVC directly. Is that worthwhile and or effective?

I'll just respond to the last question. Whenever I have made a room request I have just emailed it into MS once I knew for sure that we would not be modifying our reservation. Each time that I have done this it has been mentioned by the CM at check in. On our last trip in December for a 2 BR Standard View at Kidani I made a request of north trail, high floor, something like 7x35 would be great. On check in the CM said that my request of a high floor was met....I asked about north trail (that was the most important to us) and he said that it looks like my request was met exactly. Sure enough, 7935 (top floor in the row of rooms I mentioned).

We haven't made many requests as we've been enjoying various resorts and learning what we like (or dislike) about each. We normally keep any requests that we do make very basic but this time we had family with us and I hoped to get a Savannah view out of a Standard booking and it worked....also wanted to be close to the pool for the kids. We're easy going and if we get what we ask for great, if not, we're still at Disney in a deluxe resort and will have a wonderful time anyways (but no harm asking lol).

I’ve heard from a few people that the room assigners don’t actually know what rooms have what views, so if it seems like your request was completely ignored that could be why.

Village green is all dedicated (garden view) studios with 4 dedicated 1 bedrooms. I believe only the 1br on the second floor is garden view with the other ones being Boardwalk view.

Ah, OK thanks. My memory must be rusty or they changed the designation on some of them. I do have a wait list for Boardwalk View but given this was such a last-minute reservation and is only three months away I’m not optimistic but that’s OK

Any other good non-pool views to request?

Ah oh sorry, all those studios are garden view! I just realized how poorly worded that was! I edited my post.

Yes, you just use the email function from the site. You could also use the chat but I like getting a confirmation email back.
