Seeing Santa at Disney?

We are going Dec 6th - 14th. I'd love for my kids DS2.5 and DD5.5 to see Santa while at Disney. I know he is in Epcot and MK. My question is he at MK all day or just during the Christmas party. I think I'd rather have them see him the day we do the Christmas party (which is a MK day for us earlier) so that way they are in some type of Christmas attire. Is this a line we'd have to get into an hour or more before the party? If we come back to the park around 5 do you think we might have a chance to see him without a horrible wait? Just trying to figure out the best time to see him.

I'm not sure about MK or Epcot. We have seen Santa the past few years over Thanksgiving at Downtown Disney and our girls have loved him.
