Are you allowed to look around Be our Guest without eating there?
I'd like to see the actual restaurant but find the prices for food (including QS lunch) to be a bit much for what they offer.

No. It is way too busy for them to allow that and would just create even more chaos.

It's enough of a zoo in there already with all the folks who actually DO have ADR's wandering around taking pics. It's so rude and intrusive having all the camera flashes going off and people wandering around you while you're trying to eat. I can't imagine how terrible it would be if they just let everyone in to wander around while peoole are trying to find a table and enjoy a meal with more people than there already are milling around snapping pics everywhere. The last time we ate there, we had a table underneath Belle and the Beast dancing. We actually had to ask some folks to get their asses off our table. They were actually resting their buttocks against our table while we were trying to eat so they could get a pic of themselves with B&B dancing in the background.

They definitely control strictly who gets in the front door..

This^ More than most any Disney restaurant I've noticed they are absolutely monitoring who goes in and out of this place. Without an ADR you won't be getting inside.

Go in at lunch with an ADR and order a strawberry cupcake and a grey stuff cupcake. You get to look around all you want. There are three rooms and it's snowing outside the windows of the grand ballroom. Enjoy!

Or with a late breakfast ADR which may be easier to get than lunch. You can order a cupcake or a cup of coffee and walk around.

When it first opened (still like the first few weeks), we were able to get there when the opened the doors around 10:00 (i think lunch started at 10:30), asked to see the inside, and were allowed to look inside near the main doors (but not walk through the rooms- we only got as far as the registers). There was a rope up blocking the ballroom. They were allowing many people to do this, but after a few weeks, I heard they stopped this since it wasn't brand new any more.

We were seated right next to the Christmas tree when we went for dinner. When we first sat down I thought we hit the jackpot getting that table! So pretty next to the tree.....Yeah well, you guessed it....One group after another posing around the tree for pictures.... right on top of our table while we were trying to eat. People never cease to amaze me.

To be fair, the CMs do encourage you to wander around and take pictures. I would never plant my rear on someone's table, that is just disgustingly rude.

This. It's definitely irritating, but the servers have always encouraged us to get up and walk around and take photos when we are done. So you can't really hold it against people.

Leaning on or against your table is unacceptable but you can't fault them for wanting a photo with the tree when it's so often encouraged.

Sure you can hold it against people. Just because someone suggests it, doesn't excuse a lack of class. It's a restaurant, not an attraction.

Wandering around a restaurant snapping pics while others are attempting to eat a meal is really inexcusable.

It isn't just some people suggesting it, but the people who work at the restaurant. That is a bit different.

The servers and ALL CAST MEMBERS are the ones who encourage it. It isn't some random guests who are telling people to explore. We have eaten dinner here three times, and every time both our hostess AND our waiter told us to walk around and take photos when we were finished eating.

It is a restaurant but it is also ABSOLUTELY an attraction. Part of what you're paying for is the ability to explore the castle.

I don't really think the CS lunch prices are that much different than other CS places and the food is head and shoulders better.

We had the same exact thing happen and some even asked us to take their photos!
