See What A Little Wishing Can Do?

I agree. I LOVE Wishes, and would be happy for it to stay at WDW forever. And I agree they will replace it with projections, which so limits the viewing spots. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it. And "new" doesn't necessarily mean better.
Wishes is very personnal in the emotions it evokes. Projections actually seek to manipulate your emotions, and on its time schedule as well.
Projections seek to tell you what to feel and when. Wishes allows or guides you in whatever wells up inside each individual.
Agree 100%... Wishes was about imagination... imagining in what your heart desired... which lead to dreaming... which lead to wishing...

My DS is now 22 years old, we started taking him at age 6. I don't think Wishes had started at that time, but we honestly can't remember what the fireworks show was before. We were talking about our upcoming trip last night and I reminded him about the last Wishes. He said that Main St will be flooded with tears that night, including his. He's a Disney kid without a doubt, I'm so glad we will get to be there together for this.

Fantasy in the Sky.

Fantasy in the Sky.

WISHES became a teenager last October.:)

Thank you both!

I'm sure we watched Fantasy in the Sky since we would have been there, but I only remember Wishes and Hallowishes.

Going to Youtube to see if I can jog my memory....

ETA: just watched it. Not to offend any fans of Fantasy in the Sky, but well, after Wishes, those are just big fireworks-no emotions in watching that.

Just wanted to let anyone who is interested know that TeePublic has several shirts now with a Wishes design. Disney Avenue has the Jiminey Cricket shirt from the live stream Wishes.

We will be there 5/6-5/12 - should we plan on seeing Wishes earlier? 5/7 and 5/11 are our MK days but we will have APs and can go a different night.

I worked custodial in Fantasyland in 2004. I would find a family, position them to make sure they could see Tink fly, watch for a bit, and then high tail it to the bathrooms before the finale, even if that wasn't my assignment. My managers always knew where to find me - I hate loud noises and the finale was so loud in Fantasyland. If I wasn't in the bathrooms they knew they could find me in Pinocchio'a Village Haus - even though the restaurant was technically closed, they never locked the doors. If I saw a family with a freakin out child I would take them in there to hide out.
You'd think I'd be thrilled not to have to deal with that after I stopped working there. But for memory's sake I still love watching Wishes from Fantasyland. I'm going to miss it
The first trip for my oldest son was when he was 9.5 months. It was July 2012. We watched from Cosmic Rays because we didn't want the noises to freak him out. I will always remember that. It wasn't the perfect view but it was what worked for our family on that particular trip.

I love that. I may need to get one. This doesn't say Wishes on it but here is the tank I picked up from Redbubble awhile back before we knew it was going away:

Sorry the photo is a little dark.

The merchandise looks like it was slapped together in MS Paint in 1995, and not in a good way. Yikes.

Do you think it will be crazy May 8? That is the night we are planning to watch it. I am sure there will be more people but do you think it will be a huge issue? Dh is thinking of staking a spot around 7:30. (We have never seen it)

I'm curious about this as well! Our 2 MK days are 8th and 11th. We are doing the dessert party on the 8th just to be safe! On the 11th we plan on leaving the park by 4pm

So reports from last night are that the new show is quite heavy on the fireworks. Something that I was very worried about, about it being more of a projection show that is. SO, that sounds like good news at least. Apparently they were using some of the fireworks normally reserved for special events.
Awesome-at EIGHTEEN minutes long,it has to be HEAVY on fireworks AND projections!lol:)

Only time will tell if this new show can illicit the same emotion that Wishes did. My hope is it does.
