See a Movie Onboard or No?

I'm saving up all my moving going experiences nad am using them on the cruise! So far I have "The Incredibles" and "National Treasure". Does anyone know if "Meet The Fockers" is a Disney movie?

We were on the Magic this Thanksgiving and took in a few movies which was a few more than I anticipated. Actually DS saw the most...he thought it was cool to go alone without the parental units...something I still won't let him do at home, but felt very safe about him doing on the ship. Funny thing though...we went to the 11:30pm premiere of "National Treasure" on Thanksgiving and after a Palo Brunch, a Palo High Tea, late dining I was wiped out and actually fell asleep in the Walt Disney Theater...maybe I should have worn my jammies like the little ones. lol

As another post said...if you've nothing else you want to do, go see a movie...it's FREE!

They showed National Treasure on our 3 day cruise on the Wonder both in the Walt Disney theater at night (11PM) and during the day and early evening in the Buena Vista theater. They also were showing The Incredibles, Mr. 3000, Ladder 49 and Princess Diaries 2 in the theaters. On the TV in your room were Harry Potter, Spiderman 2, De-lovely and a movie about tigers ((I forget the name), and Bourne Identity.

When we sailed in 2000, they had the prem-ear of Dinosaur! It was sooo popular, that they had to add 2 more showings to the line-up! It was fun seeing the newly released movie onboard! DDs still talk about it!

I'm hoping they'll prem-ear the new Herbie Full Throttle movie!!! I think it's supposed to be in theatres June 24th....

Our Nov. 11th 3 night cruise featured presentations of "The Incredibles" and we tried to fit it into our schedule, but we couldn't. Our tablemates enjoyed it so much they went to see it twice!

So, we're not against going to the movies on board, and we've seen "Forrest Gump" and "Titanic" for the first time while on cruises!

I'm amazed that no one's mentioned this....you actually saw TITANIC on a cruise????? :earseek: I can't believe that a cruise ship would show this.

Good topic. I remember our first Disney cruise when I went to see Chicago. My husband and the kids had activities to attend (the Veggie Races was one) and I really, really wanted to see Chicago. Quite honestly I always thought it was a little silly to see a movie on board since you could do it at home but I had a great time and enjoyed the movie. I would not see a movie on a cruise shorter than seven nights though. On our upcoming Repo cruise I suspect we shall all go to the movies more than once!

I am really hoping that I will get to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on our November cruise since it is supposed to open that weekend. I am not holding my breath though since it is a WB production and not Disney. They don't show first run movies of other companies do they? :wizard:

On our first cruise we saw Monsters, Inc for the first time on board.
On last year's cruise we saw The Incredibles; even though we had seen it in the theatre not too long beforehand, our boys were hot to see it again onboard! I would not see a movie just to kill time, but it's relaxing to take time out for a good movie.

BTW on our last cruise Harry Potter III was the stateroom TV almost continously, and our boys turned it on every time we were there! We must have the whole thing about 3 times! And Harry Potter movies have been shown on Disney channel. I would be surprised if Goblet of Fire were not shown onboard.

ON our August 2003 cruise, we saw Pirates in the Walt Disney Theater. It just seemed so right to be watching this movie while aboard ship. We usually go at least once on a cruise. It is a big treat to see a "grown-up" movie every now and then.

We loved going to the movies on board. Of course we made sure there wasn't anything else going on we didn't want to miss. We even brought soda's from near the Mickey Pool and nachos (from Pluto's Dog House ) in to the theater. The boys absolutely loved the experience of being able to see a current movie on a ship. My husband and I got to see one while our boys were in the Oceaneer's Club too. It was relaxing knowing our kids were in great hands.

Where else can you watch a movie where the entire building is swaying back and forth.

We rarely get to the movies at home anymore, so the on-board theater is a treat, it is part of the relaxation of the cruise. No tickets to buy, and while there is no fresh popcorn, carrying in some goodies from deck 9, like pizza slices, or chicken fingers & fries, or some chocolate chip cookies from room service, all sounds wonderful to me.

All depends how much you like movies. Went to the movies one overcast day on our honeymoon in Hawaii 13 years ago--the fun of it was that the movie was Honeymoon in Vegas, much of it was filmed in Hawaii, and there we were on our honeymoon, in Hawaii. So on board, hopefully there is no overcast situation (last month it rained at CC so took in an added showing in the Walt Disney Theater), and prefer to think of the Buena Vista as a relaxing thing to do when it is time to get out of the sun after a few hours outside.
