Security seemed much tighter at WDW

We went to AK today. They were doing a VERY THOROUGH inspection of bags Lines were long to get through. I asked if this was due to the heightened warnings and they said it was. Lots of security officers seemed very visible in the park. Guard said what he despised the most was knowing our children and grandchildren would grow up having to be guarded and inspected all their lives.

The park was wonderful. I think the safari ride is my favorite of all Disney attractions. Lunch in Rain Forest Cafe was marginal and quite expensive.

It's sad, but I'm glad to hear they are doing more serious security checks. I would hate for something to happen, that could have been prevented with a little inconvenience

I was there for a four day weekend and yes security has a more apparent presence. I noticed it at all the parks we visited plus at our resort. I think most companies now have security plans based on the different threat levels. I am not completely sure if Homeland Security has some hand in this, but it may have set some mandates as well.

We were there over the weekend, I noticed a larger security presence. But, every guard that checked our bg only did a cursory glance. They weren't very thorough.

I heard about it on the radio. They said that it was hard to tighten up security and still have WDW a magical, get away from the world place to be. They said that they are trying very hard to not take away from the magic.

This is good to hear since when we were there last week, it was almost non-existent. I know that we don't fit a "profile" walking in with DD in the stroller but really, Timothy McVeigh looked like and "average" person, too. They would take the quickest glance in our backpack and off we would go. It is a big backpack meant for an entire day's worth of supplies for a child and I could have easily had a gun or worse and they never would have known. My DH and I were commenting on it so I am glad they have stepped up.
