Security lines in Newark

We will be flying out on an early flight Monday morning. Has there been any increase in wait times due to the govt. shut down? I was thinking if we were there by 5:30 am for a 7:00 am flight we should be ok?

I wouldn't do 90 minutes in any major airport. Early Monday mornings are busy with business flyers traveling out.

The TSA is working as usual.

A 7 am flight will usually start boarding by 6:30. If you aren't checking luggage, you should be okay. If you are checking luggage, you might want to get to the airport a bit earlier, just to be safe.

Newark security lines are the worst. Flew out of Newark in July and was in line for almost an hour. Thank goodness we got there even earlier than planned.

The TSA is not affected by the Govt Shutdown. Security lines at Newark are running normal: SLOW. Flew EWR-MCO last week on a Thursday afternoon and there was a long wait. On the return flight MCO-EWR, our flight was 2:00 pm. Sunday. The TSA line in Orlando looked crazy, but the sign said 15 Minutes and sure enough we were through it in less than 10!

I fly out of Newark just about every week, usually with United. I arrive to the airport about an hour before my departure and have never come remotely close to missing my flight.

With a 90-minute buffer, you will have plenty of time to spare in the terminal.
