My friend just came back from DLP and told me something that got me thinking. She bought her daughter and son (aged 4 and 2) a giant balloon each. She tied them very securely to her pushchair and went on a ride. When she came out, both balloons had been taken :( How mean is that? She was shocked that someone had taken them and was surprised that someone had taken the time to untie them. I said they had probably just cut them.

Sooooo, what is it like at WDW? We were careful at DLP to take cameras/phones with us but left everything else stowed under the pushchair. Do you feel happy leaving stuff with your pushchair or do you not let it out of your sight?

There was a thread elsewhere about people having strollers taken so it does happen. WDW attracts hundreds of thousands of people every week and, sadly, a tiny, tiny percentage of them will be not as honest as they could be. The chances of anything of yours being taken is very small but I wouldn't leave anything of real value.

Sadly it doesn't matter where you are in the world you will always have some mean-spirited people about!

Never had any probs at WDW, but then again anything of value is kept in our bags, only things we left in the buggies was our cooler bags and water :)

I always work on the premise that I keep anything with me that I woudn't want to lose/be taken.

WDW might be the happiest place on Earth but it still is a real place, with real people. You only have to look at the people who have complete disregard for the rules regarding smoking, queue jumping, taking flash photos on rides and other such things to know that WDW attracts just as many people who have no respect for other people and their possessions as anywhere else.

I would work on the basis that you keep things with you that you don't want to lose. I know that is not always possible with things like balloons and stuff but, personally, I wouldn't buy them if I knew I was going to have to leave them unattended and there was a risk of them being taken.

Good advice.:thumbsup2

I think I will behave as if I am in a British theme park and have my wits about me.;) I know that WDW isn't all :wizard: but it saddens me to think that adults would steal from children. At least I know that my battered old Maclaren pushchair won't be taken. Think I might have to invest in a bumbag - yep, you read that right, a bumbag / fanny pack. Fashion has officially died.

Cm's do rearrange pushchairs so don't panic if yours isn't there - it may just have been moved.

Do tie something on your buggy to make sure it isn't taken by mistake.

I will leave a bag in the pushchair with things like wipes, water, snacks, tissues.

We have a lanyard for our tickets and I wear a bumbag. DH keeps his camera bag with him.

Good idea about a lanyard - do you buy one from Disney?

We had no problems last year at WDW. We left our pushchair all the time, complete with bags (nothing of value in them), autograph books etc. Obviously, this does not mean that it doesn't happen!

You seem to be going the same day as us this year :-)

we never leave anything in the stroller

everything is in a small backpack that we stow in the under basket when we use the stroller, but as soon as we park it we take the backpack with us.

when we use rental strollers (disney strollers) we always leave a disney-shop-bag attached to the stroller, even if it's empty. We've noticed that our stroller does not get "stolen" as easily. guests often take the first disney stroller they see if it's empty ... despite the name tag it seems easier than trying to find their own stroller.

Park purchases are shipped to the resort if it's too big or bulky for us to carry around in the backpack.

Everything else goes into cargo shorts pockets or in my case logic camera sling pack

I have a bag (the free bag you get on the eurostar when going to dlrp) which had dds nappys, change of clothes etc that stays on the buggy and then a back pack which has the camera, money etc in that i would never leave. As for purchases we tend to just pop them im the basket or buy as we are leaving the park. I havent ever had anything taken but i always use caution just in case :thumbsup2

Yes this happened to us after a show, I think it was Fantasmic. We had memorised where we had left our buggies but the CM's kept moving them (to keep them all neat and tidy). We tied some coloured ribbon around the handles to make it easier to spot :)

I think its just remembering that although WDW is a 'magical place' its still going to have theifs opperating. I think its just a case of keeping things on you that you class as valuable, although some people will half inch anything given the chance!

We got our lanyards at disney and reuse every year.

If you wanted to get in advance try ebay.

Ribbon is a good idea on a buggy - I do this on DD's or i've even seen homemade flags.

Left balloons on the stroller and never had a problem and they weren't even tied on!

CM's rearrange strollers everywhere - it is always a hunt to find it. i have made a luggage size tag and laminated it and attached it to both sides on the hadle with cable ties so it makes it easier to spot among all the other baby joggers!

We leave the rain cover and ponchos underneath but take the valuables with us.

People are people no matter where you are.

One of the reasons we only have bumbags! :D

I bought a lanyard on our trip 4 years ago and got DH to buy one as well. Never go to WDW with out them now. We are a no kids couple so stollers are not an issue for us however. Try not to leave food in the stoller those birds and squirrels love to have a good dig about when they think no one is watching.

Disney does its best to keep the strollers organised and I have seen lots of CMs moving them around.

And like the pps have said if you are going to buy things its much easier to have them sent to your resort. If you are not staying on site they can put things to the front of the park for you and you can collect it there. DH had to do this with a bottle of tequila he bought in WS they will not send alchol back to your resort and you are not allowed to carry it with you so you have to collect it at the front of the park.

OK, forgive me for being dim, but how do you attach your park tickets to your lanyard?

I have a lanyard for work with my ID card and there is a hard plastic wallet thingy that the card goes into, and this is then secured to the lanyard. Do Disney have these too?
