Secrets & Little Known Facts about rides

Unfortunately, no. Every time I walk past the pavilion I think "Maybe, this time!" but alas. Ropes.

Also--this thread is awesome.
Cranium Command and Body Wars are actually still there!! Just acting as dust collectors now :( One of my managers told me that they closed
wonders for financial reasons i.e. Not enough people were visiting wondrs enough, and they were building Test Track at the time.

Didn't that ride open for a few years as Delta Dreamflight? I've seen it as a few different names but basically the same ride - I liked that ride!! I still miss it!

Yes, that was the third version of the same ride - but unlike the switch to the second version after Eastern left, it was a bit more extensive change, with new scenery, etc.

The final incarnation was Take Flight, which again was simply a removal of the Delta name from around the attraction. It lasted a couple years before being closed and turned into Buzz.

Bummed about Body Wars :( I remember riding that the year it opened when I was a little girl and then trying to explain it to my schoolmates in my "what did you do this summer" report. I guess I shouldn't have started with "this summer I boarded a vessel that was shrunk down and then injected into a body where I went on a wild ride through blood vessels....." Needless to say I got many a screwball look :confused3

Anyways, great thread!

The wooden leg disappeared some time ago.

I knew I had a pic of this somewhere :lmao:

We were on a scavenger hunt on that trip in 2002 and a CM had to point it out to us, it was high up on a shelf.

Thanks so much for all the tips!! I still need to read through a few more, ;)
but I love what I'm reading!!!

I just have to say this is officially the longest thread I've ever started! How fun!

I love this thread! Every piece of information is completely new to me and really fascinating! I've really enjoyed reading everything. I wish I had something to add, but unfortunately I don't =(

For anyone who has not seen it, there is a Modern Marvels episode about Disneyworld. It is full of all kinds of cool info. I highly recommend it. It's available at blockbuster.com and NetFlix if you don't want to wait for the rerun.

The DVD is also for sale in the Contemporary Resort gift shop. That's where I got my copy.

No, you're not crazy. But it wasn't the HDDR. You're probably thinking of the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon in Frontierland. Back in the day they used to have a western-style show (not unlike HDDR) in there, and it was a counter-service food place. From what I recall it was a fun little show, and at Disneyland was one of Walt's favorites (he even had his birthday party in there, with a performance from the cast). A shame it got the axe here.

The Diamond Horseshoe Review couldn't hold a candle to the HDDR. The food was lousy too; you got a boxed lunch that was like a sandwich and some soggy fries. But still, I've always said WDW needs more dinner shows, so I'd support bring it back, no matter how cheesy it way.

The exit for the POTC ride takes you into the gift shop. Walk straight ahead towards the exit of the shop. About halfway through the shop, look to your right. Up on a high shelf you will see the pirate medallion necklace from the movie. It’s hanging on a vase, I believe. Directly across the shop on the left, you can find the key to the chest, also up high. Maybe that’s the one hanging on a vase?

Can't remember if it has been mentioned, but the wall at the eit of Haunted Mansion (at the end of the moving walkway) is made of foam so people who walk into it don't hurt themselves!

It used to be simply covered with a black pad -- the new foam covering is much more themed and unobtrusive.

Just please don't pester the Unload CM to show it to you. They can have a lot on their plate at times.
