Secrets & Little Known Facts about rides

Wait a minute - have I lost my mind or isn't the ride where you are "injected into a body" known as BodyWars? You are "injected" into the body to get a splinter out or something. Am I right or wrong? Also - I thought for some reason this ride was still going. No?

Yes, Body Wars was the attraction where you were injected into the body. Riders on Adventure Thru Inner Space were also shrunken down (according to the storyline), but they were not injected. Instead, the "Mighty Microscope" would shrink them down and they would see crystals grow around them until they were so small that they could see the atoms of the crystals. BTW, the "Mighty Microscope" makes an appearance in the Star Tours film.

Unfortunately, Body Wars is no longer in operation. It has been permanently closed since December, 2006. :(

And my memory combined them into one ride and got really messed up. LOL

Can you imagine all the time, money, work, involved in creating and building a ride only to have to remove it because of complaints like that?

My DH has epilepsy and I remember one time I made him go on Star Tours with me. OMG, he got sooo soo sick afterwards. He wasn't sure what was going on, if it was epilepsy related or not. Some people react to lights, flashing lights, lack of sleep, I dunno, all things, different things bring on the seizures for different people. Mainly for dh, it is sleep and flashing light related, so he thought he would be ok on this ride.

Whenever we go to an amusement park, I always make sure now to ask the CM what kind of ride it is before we go on, if we hadn't been on before, just to be safe.

I think it was all the fast movement combined with the fact that you really have to look at the screen to get the full effect, so all that movement on the screen can really mess a person up.

Do these rumors have any relation to the rumor that Disney was going to do a new Start Tours film based on the podracing sequence in The Phantom Menace? I agree it could make for a fun ride, but I wouldn't think Disney would really want to have a ride that related directly to the prequels.

All I want is to actually make it to the forest moon of Endor. Just once. :sad1:

OH you mean like riding those speed bike things through the forests of Endor having storm troopers after you. We could each sit on a speed bike during the ride. That would be fun.:)

Not really a secret. More of a humorous fact, but my pops worked at the MK during the summer of '72. He worked the skyway from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland. He was the guy who stood in the tower and pushed your vehicle on to the next leg of the journey. Anyways, he said that on grad night just about every other car that came through had some young hippies in it smoking out. Scandal! Pot in the Magic Kingdom! But he said they were all very nice and every one of them offered him a quick hit, which he politely declined.

I can't believe I've missed this. I've been on that ride dozens of times. When does it appear?

OMG, that is scary. :scared1: I know they have warnings on different video games and such as well.

You have to look quick because you fly right by it. It appears almost exactly one minute into the film. I won't spoil things by explaining what happens in the ride, but if you look at the following pictures you should recognize where it's at. First, here's a link to a picture of the Mighty Microscope as it appeared at Disneyland:

And here are links to pictures as it appears in Star Tours. The images are a bit blurry so I've circled the MM in red:

ILM put the MM in the film as a tribute because Star Tours replaced Adventure Thru Inner Space at Disneyland. :)

Thank you so much for posting the pic with Mole. I have heard about it and never could find it. It is so cute.

I have a pic before photopass of Belle & Beast in front of the stain glass window in the store in France, That was made as charcter Photo spot years ago and they changed it they now appear by the Water.

I love Star Tours and there is some fun stuff in the actual movie you watch. Well first the robot driver is the voice of Pee Wee Herman , In the movie which you have to watch it a few time to see it. When the ship starts to leave I believe it is on the right side almost at the end of the hanger is the Microscope from the old "Adventures thru inner space" ride from Disneyland. Star Tours replaced this ride. Also at the end of the ride when you almost crash thru the hanger and there is a man ducking in the office window. check it out it is George Lucas. (younger brown hair) also there is other refrences to Greorge I remmber his name is either said in the preshow area backwards.
also I am not sure which park they are in But the some of the robot birds on top were from Tokyo Disneyland.

Speaking of Japan = Did you know there is empty theater that is used as storage in the Japan Pavillion? it was suppose to be used for the movie "Meet the World" Instead it was shown in Tokyo Disneyland. :surfweb:

I went on Body Wars Years ago. I believe the entire Wonders of Life was shut down to to Met Life the sponser ended there contract. There use to be a DNA model out front. I loved Cranium Command . The Art of Disney years ago sold the cels from the Movie with Buzzy the lttle boy. The Building is in being used for the Food & Wine festivals.

That could be fun (though probably capacity limiting if you had to give each guest their own speederbike.) Really though, I'm just referring to the fact that the frame story for Star Tours is that you're going on a nice pleasure trip to the forest moon of Endor until Rex takes you on an accidental detour. Much as I like the ride as it is, there's a part of me that wishes there was a second option for the ride where you actually made it to Endor and got to cavort around with the Ewoks. But I'm probably just being silly. :joker:

This is an often repeated statement, but it's not true. That is not George Lucas in Star Tours. It is ILM model maker Ira Keeler. But you're right that in the waiting area you hear: "Paging Mr. Sacul. Mr. Egroeg Sacul. Please meet your party at gate number two."

also I am not sure which park they are in But the some of the robot birds on top were from Tokyo Disneyland.

Mmmm...I'm not sure about this. I believe what you're refering to is Disneyland's Star Tours, where two animatronic geese from the former America Sings attraction were used to create the two "G2" droids in the queue area. :)

Really liking this thread. Can't wait to read all of it! And thanks for the mighty microscope info...

Great photos. Thanks!

It's amazing how popular ATIS was on grad nights. ;)

Wow, two new things in two days. Great thread.

I wonder why WDW can't just have a copy of the film.

In MouseGear, high up on the wall facing the row of cash registers (above the section where they have the pens/pencils and those photo acrylic thingys) is one of the "flying machines" from the opening scene of the original Journey into Imagination, minus its balloon and with a different paint job (and with no Dreamfinder, of course). Originally there were three, who knows what happened to the other two.

One is in Tomorrowland in Paris! Noticed it there when I visited 3 years ago..

I read somewhere - not sure if its true or rumor - the film wasn't used in the Japan pavilion because it shows a brief history of Japan and shows Japan's view of WWII and WDW was afraid of American WWII vets getting upset about the description of the war. I believe it was all ready to go, and the day they were going to open it, they stopped and closed it and it sat in that building until they felt it was a better fit in Tokyo Disneyland. If you see satellite images of Epcot you can see the building - I believe its for storage now!
