Yes, that was the third version of the same ride - but unlike the switch to the second version after Eastern left, it was a bit more extensive change, with new scenery, etc.

The final incarnation was Take Flight, which again was simply a removal of the Delta name from around the attraction. It lasted a couple years before being closed and turned into Buzz.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but back when the MK opened and you had the A,B,C,D,E tickets this was one of only a few attractions that didn't require a ticket. The others were the Monsanto sponsored Circle Vision, now the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, and the Diamond Horseshoe which had the wild west show.

This may be common knowledge as I am new here and havent had time to read all of this thread yet, but has anyone noticed the figures of the lost guests on the TOT. I noticed on my last visit that during the middle of the fall, you get a split second view of the 3-4 guests out in front of the ride vehicle as the lights dimly flash. I had to ride twice just to get a good enough look to make sure I wasnt seeing things, but the figures are actually there. Kinda freaky.

In 11/05 DH and I took a ton of tours during our 20th anniversary trip. We took the behinds the scence tour that goes to 3 parks. We also took the train tour at MK (DH is a huge train fan) and the Behind the Seeds Tour in Epcot.

In the American Experience in Epcot, the scene changer is a elevator laid on its side. We got to go in the back and saw it. I came home and told my daughters that I was 5 feet from Ben Franklin!

For wigs, real people have fake hair and fake people have real hair (for some reason I find this amusing)

Some of the fish bred in Living with the Land have scoliosis. When you look down at the tank the fish seem to be zig zagging but it is their bodies.

The train used in MK's opening ceremony each morning is only used for that purpose as you can exit the train to the left.

Yea, the figures in TOT were extremely hard to see the first go around, but I made my wife ride again just to verify I wasnt crazy. They are easier to see in some fall sequences than in others. I had been on the ride several times before and never noticed it.

If you're ever in the area and have a car, it's worth the ride to the actual warehouse. We went for the first time last month and saw all that stuff - as well as enough furniture and accessories to furnish you're entire home (and cheaply!), and all sorts of other cool stuff.

I wish I could have figured a way to get one of the spiffy armoirs home, but we'd have had to strap it on the roof for 1200 miles.

Can you imagine the stares you would have gotten on the road back home?

The message is gone, but someone around here has a picture (Buzz?). It was in the movable letter sign in the glass case outside the pre-show rooms. You'll notice that some of the letters from the words are missing, presumably fallen to the bottom of the glass case. If you looked at the bottom of the case, it spelled out a message (exactly what I forget, but something about being doomed...)

It was actually built up so that it could be taller than the 199 foot height requirement of the FAA. Anything 200 feet or above ground level requires a red beacon on the top so planes won't hit it. Disney decided to just raise the "ground level" by about 21 feet which made the castle reach the intended scale that they wanted.

Actually, by raising ground level, they gained nothing. They changed the size as it got taller and the visual perspective so they would not have to make it taller to get the same mental image. Like the building on main street, that are not actually 3 stories tall, they are really 2+. No matter how it's measured 200 feet over ground is still 200 feet. They excavated the site, then built the tunnels, then covered it with soil excavated from another lagoon area. The castle was one of the first things built since it was the hub of the park, everything was built off of that. It's a neat trick with the way they trick your eye and mind. Hollywood scenery is sometimes done this way too.

Supposedly, this was Not something the original Imagineers put in, so when they saw it - they had it removed. That's the rumor anyways...

Ah, yeah, that's a myth. Not true. Convincing, though.

The real story is that some of the old mountainclimbing Cast members would pass the time inside the top of the Matterhorn very bored, and one day, a fellow brought a basketball hoop (or something of that sort). Thus, the Matternhorn court was born. I think it might be on Snopes.

There is supposed to be a 1/2 court basketball court in the Matterhorn at DL due to Anaheim height restrictions. County/city officials only allowed athletic buildings to be taller than the planned height of Matterhorn SO the Imagineers put the basketball court inside as a loophole to the hieght rules of Southern California... I've heard this on the Travel Channel.

They did the same for Sleeping Beauty's and TOT... their planned heights were required by law to have the airplane flashing lights on them so they were shrunk by at minimum 1 foot to avoid having the ugly flashing lights on top of the structures... it all has to do with local code restrictions and rules.
