Secrets & Little Known Facts about rides

Sorry, I'm very touchy when it comes to flash photos. We just got back from a vacation where I literally spent most dark rides enduring at least one flash until I strongly "reminded" the person to quit. Lots of loud talking from guests during the rides that have narrator commentary too. Ugh.

:offtopic: I spent the first half of my trip scream-whispering at my friends "NO FLASH! NO FLASH!! TURN IT OFF NOWWWWW!!!!!!" on the rides! They were thankful I saved them from humiliation after they heard/saw people get told not to. I know it's off-topic, but I too am a touchy flash person!

Okay, back on topic!!

I don't know if this has been mentioned here yet (I don't recall seeing it) or how true it really is, but at the exit of HM right outside of the final canopy leg I'd guess you'd say, there supposedly is a wedding ring in the concrete. I've heard numerous stories, such as it was thrown there by a bride from the mansion (in the storyline, not a real bride) or that Master Gacey put it there. Again, I'm not sure how much fact is in this, or if it's even still there. I looked last trip and couldn't find it, but didn't thoroughly search.

C-3PO & R2-D2

Alrighty, this is really bothering me! I can't find C-3PO or R2-D2?! Any hints? I know this is a secret/facts thread but it's really getting to me, I just had to ask for help.

I had a hard time finding them too! They are in the only block that is completely in the picture. They are on the right side of that block. It isn't the easiest thing to see!

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!

Let me see if I have something to add--

I've seen it written that when you're in the doombuggies, and you ''fall out of the attic'' so to speak, that you 'die' and the ghosts start paying attention to you.

ok so maybe it's been written better than that, but there's my take :lmao:

:sad2: I can't believe it. Once you pointed it out I immediately found them! Wow. Thanks for helping me!

That does make sense! You don't see any ghosts - please correct me if I'm wrong - until that scene! Interesting stuff!

You see the ghosts in the ballroom scene and the bride in the attic before you go out the window. It's Madame Leota's summoning of the spirits that allows you to see them. :)

As much as I love and have ridden this ride, I've never realized the sequence of the seance then being able to see the ghosts! I also never realized you fall out of the attic window into the graveyard. Now that I think about it, how else would you have gotten there? Oh boy I feel like I need to go hang my head in HM shame! :guilty:

De-lurking to contribute some of the secrets I've learned by having a best friend that was a CM (worked on Soarin)!
..........
Until its recent renovation, the boat ride in Mexico was the last original, unchanged ride in all of WDW.
..........
Soarin was designed by an imagineer using an erector set...That's where the idea came from.
..........
The longest ride in DW is the monorail. It is considered an attraction because you can ask to ride in the front with the conductor.

...I'm sure she's told me more but I'll have to think....

I know... :offtopic:

I'm glad that you had permission to take the photos...

FYI: If anyone wants to hear the schpiel about the HM take the Keys to the Kingdom tour... they tell you all about Leota and such.

No problem Mickey_for_President - it's a good reminder that you need to follow the rules! And I 2nd the vote for taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour for lots of cool info on the HM & Jungle Cruise especially! ("I Love Disco!")

The Hieroglyphics of R2C-3PO & Mickey/Donald are in the Great Movie Ride opposite where "Indy" is raising the Grail. R2 & C-3PO are directly in the middle of the room - b/t 2 crates - and then Mickey & Donald are in that same room, just past the giant statue thingee right before you leave that area.

Here's a pic of the HM "Ring" - before it was removed...

Well, shoot. Sorry for the false information, but thanks for clarifying!! :cheer2:

OH yeah, I guess she says "show us the (something...?) from somewhere beyond"

Rap on a table. It's time to respond. Send me a message from somewhere beyond!

On Space Mountain (WDW) after getting into the ride, and going through the safety belt check you move forward to an area where you pause again before launching on to the ride. At that pause, the vehicle is being weighed and the weight of your vehicle is being compared to the weight of the vehicle in front of you to calculate how much time to leave between the vehicle launches.

Don't know if this will change with the renovations.

I've seen it written that when you're in the doombuggies, and you ''fall out of the attic'' so to speak, that you 'die' and the ghosts start paying attention to you.
I've also heard that -- apparently it was being spread by some well-intentioned but sadly misinformed tour guides.
Until its recent renovation, the boat ride in Mexico was the last original, unchanged ride in all of WDW.
The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse begs to differ with your friend.

The so-called "ring" was actually a bit of construction debris that some people thought resembled a ring with a setting (it was far too small to actually be a real ring).

The rumors and legends of the bride's hurled engagement ring supposedly so bothered the Imagineers that when the HM went down for Refurbishment in 2007 the ring was one of the first things to go. And, as we've seen, the Bride in the Attic, Constance, was driven by a murderous greed and was fond of jewelry... particularly pearl necklaces... so I'm sure she'd never throw away anything as valuable as a diamond ring.

Why do you think it bothered them so much? IMO a little "urban legend" only helps to promote the fantasy and imagination of the attraction. :confused3

So...the "you are falling out the attic window when the buggy tilts" theory is also not true?

Why do you think it bothered them so much?
Ego.

Well, that... and you have to understand that with the rise of the Internet, the ring story gained widespread dissemination no one foresaw. Also, keep in mind that the "ring" was located in the exit path -- and the HM Cast had some issues with large groups of Guests blocking the exit as they looked for the ring.
So...the "you are falling out the attic window when the buggy tilts" theory is also not true?
You are "falling" out the attic window... but you're not dying.
