Secrets & Little Known Facts about rides

Sorry for the misprint. I guess I assume you guys are smart enough to know what I am talking about without the petty criticism. :confused3

Your welcome for my contributions to this thread by the way:sad2:

Don't worry about them-you are always going to find self-righteous and ungrateful people on the Dis. Try to ignore them :sad2: I understand that you were just forming a list, and when you are dealing with grownups you assume you do not need to proofread everything....guess you were not dealing with only grownups;)

I appreciate your input on this thread and hope you continue to share the wealth:goodvibes

BTW, I found pictures of the posters they were going to use for Africa, Israel, & Spain on a site called waltdatedworld:

Ok, back to the fun & I do hope you share more Perla, you have contributed nicely.:flower3:

FYI, when we were on one of the dark rides (can't recall which one) they stopped the ride and a voice on the PA said "There is NO flash photography allowed". It sure killed the magic for a moment, but at least the offenders know it's not allowed.

Thank you-that was a very nice post :)

Ok, here's a few more. Not rides, but Main St. USA related

-Can't remember where I heard this, but there is a phone mounted to the wall at a store on Main St. & if you pick it up and listen, you can hear a pre-recorded conversation between two "residents of Main St." Anyone know more about this?

-The names on the windows of the 2nd floor shops on Main St. are actually names of contributing art designers and Imagineers.

I was reading a trip report by a DISer (girlbomb), and at one point she mentioned sticking around after the preshow in Haunted Mansion to hear the whispering voices at the end of the stretching room. That got me to thinking that there are probably MANY of these little known treasures in our favorite rides.

There's the obvious, like the place setting in the HM in the shape of a Hidden Mickey, and maybe lesser known ones (at least to me :lmao: ). Enlighten the group with your hidden treasures within Disney shows/rides/attractions!

The ghost say...."Get Out":p

Sadly, the last time we were there it was gone :guilty: of course that was in 2007 so maybe it is back. The CM's said a LOT of people came in asking about where the phone went. Here it is, my daughter got a citation from the CM for having too much fun when she picked it up and listened (it was kind of like a ticket the CM filled out).

and here was her citation:

While waiting in the Jungle Cruise queue, listen closely to the announcements. You'll hear that one of the new sponsors of the Jungle Cruise is "Casablanca Air: The Airline No One Comes Back From".

I love listening to those announcements!!

There has got to be a book with all of these little "tidbits". Anyone know of one?

The phone is still there...it's in the Chapeau at the end of Main Street, off to the side near Tony's. The phone is in the last section of the store on the outside wall (near the wall of hats on display). We just saw it in November.

I've also heard that -- apparently it was being spread by some well-intentioned but sadly misinformed tour guides.

The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse begs to differ with your friend.

My friend says that there have been minor renovations to the treehouse over time... the mexico ride had literally remained unchanged.

Yea!!!!! My DD will be very excited. She thinks she is the only one to have ever discovered this LOL

Our Illuminations cruise CM told us about the Swan & Dolphin hotels: in constructing these hotels there was a mix-up -- the dolphin figure was put on the Swan hotel and the swan figure was put on the Dolphin hotel. Apparently it was too costly to fix and they left it like that.

I've heard there is also a phone in Tomorrowland, under the astro-orbiter ride. However, I haven't found that one yet. Anyone know exactly where it is (which side)?

Not sure exactly where...but I think I read somewhere that it was a futuristic looking phone booth....

I'm sure someone knows more specifically... but that's what I know!

Your misprint is by far, definitely not the worst one I've seen on DIS, of course I never correct it because we shouldn't have to worry about our grammar/spelling/etc. I mean, we're not writing novels and dissertations on here!

I love your contributions! Keep them coming! :thumbsup2

I only wish I knew some stuff to contribute!

I had a blast listening in on the phone last May and everyone in the store thought I was nuts. I thought there was a thread here at one time with a link to email someone who had queue cards of all of this stuff. I had put together something of the sort along with what I was emailed back in May for my family but it included other tips like where to get cheaper lunches too. I haven't read back through this whole thread but I know it isn't the same one I was subbed too before. Maybe I can do some digging in my subbed threads and see what happens.

When we were in Tony's one afternoon, our waiter was great and he spent the entire lunch talking to us about WDW secrets and stories. He told us they have a database that they can go to to look up anything they need to if a guest is interested in little tidbits. Not sure how true it is, but he had lots of info, some I knew, some I didn't. He had noticed we were doing the Hidden Mickey Hunt. He then brought us a really cool ice cream sundae on the house for allowing him to share the magic with us!

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1712235 is the thread I was talking about. It's really pretty cool and has lots of the same info, and someone was nice enough to put it all together for your upcoming trip, but please read post number 4 on page one before replying to the thread if you would like a copy of what was put together by Dnacoli (I believe.) This thread is really cool too btw as it's not as long and much more recent that the other, but both are definitely worth checking out!

You are right, there are a bunch of self-righteous people around here ;) and the tone of this was SO grown-up. Everyone was just pointing out Africa is not a country. Just trying to make it funny, sorry if the poster took it the wrong way.

FWIW....this is the friendliest and most polite message board I have visited.

If you guys think that is bad, you should try visiting one of the NFL boards sometime. :crazy2:

;)
