Secret Green Club - whatever number thread

Thanks for all the love, everybody. I went to work today, but I'm taking off the next 2 days to take care of business (mortuary, lawyer, etc). I am just exhausted.
Michele, I'm so sorry to hear about Copper.

thanks everyone! and for those heading to the Food and Wine Festival have a blast!!!! travel safe and drink up me hearties yo ho!!!

Just a little background on my Copper - I was looking for a small dog to bring into our house - mostly someone to keep me company when the kids were with their dad, to make me feel a little safe. so i see this add "1 yr old Beagle free to good home, bought for grandkids but parents do not have time" so i told my parents i was just going to see him - LOL and I brought him home.. He had no people skills and certainly no house skills (he lived either outside if the weather was nice or inside in a crate!) took me 8 months to house train the little devil and then even after he still learned a few tricks (like the bread was in the bottom kitchen drawer and if he bumped the lazy susan cupboard he could get all kinds of treats.. some of the other things he did was Bay (howl) in the middle of the night cause he saw his reflection in the window and to hop up on my bed and keep my feet warm. as he got older he got chubbier and had to be on a diet then we discovered he was allergic to chicken corn and beef :scared1: any idea how many dog foods have those ingredients - ALMOST ALL OF THEM - so for the past few years he'd been on a low fat diet of Lamb and Rice 11.99 for a 5 lb bag.. He'd been sick all last week , not eathing vomiting and yucky other stuff. the Vet said he'd been hiding it for some time. His Blood levels were off, he had a low body temp, he had pancreatis and his kidneys were failing :sad1::sad1::sad1: it was horrible to hear but even more so because he's been sick for sometime and we just didn't know. I know we made the right decision but still doesn't make it easier . We were there till the end, he had a good life, I told him he was the best freebie I ever got and was exactly what I needed when I needed it always.. RIP Copper Boy till I see you again..

Smart move! Take notes for me on how to get it on and off the busses without killing yourself or anyone else!:rotfl:

who said I was not going to take anyone out with that thing.....

We are most likely not going to be on a bus.... we are at BCV and planning on staying in EPCOT most of the time, but we do have dinner at Jiko one night

That will make it much easier then. You can just use it in the parks, and leave it in the room when you go to dinner....maybe jst take a cab to minimize time on your feet that night.

Are you still in the boot, or out of it for now? The shoes do seem to have helped Brian. That and the Physical therapy have done more for him than anything else. he is still in pain the morning after a PT appointment, but he finally feels like there is a light at the end of the tunnel.:thumbsup2

I am out of the boot....
by my choice, not the Drs, it was not really doing anything for me. I have these Dansko shoes, that have an large toe box and stiff sole, these feel as good as the boot, I was wearing to keep my big toe from moving... The Dr showed me how to tape it, so that is what I have been doing, some days are better than others...

I am still on track for surgery in December, so 6 weeks on my butt, is not going to help my diet, but then I have to get in shape for Machu Picchu in May, so I guess that will be my weight loss.... :rolleyes1

i am glad to hear that the PT and shoes are working for the PF, I might have to try them after I get the toe taken care of.. Thanks again for the update.

I am glad that you are out of the boot and in a shoe that works for you.

I know I needed it, but the boot hurt SO bad. I am now dealing with pain in the ball of my foot and all the way across under the toes from the way the boot was putting pressure on it. The skin is literally rubbed raw.
My ankle itself is feeling pretty good, just a little stiff.

Sounds like you have a good plan for getting back on your feet after surgery.:thumbsup2

That sounds awful, have you talked to the nurse or Dr about the pain and that your foot is raw from it rubbing, that just does not sound right..

Yeah...apparently it is not all that uncommon. It WAS all swollen too...at least that is going down. It is just froustrating, because it seems like fixing one problem causes another. I go back on Tuesday, so hopeflly they will have some more advice then after I have been walking with the soft brace for a while.

I would suggest something like second skin or mole skin to place on the raw spot.
My leg was being rubbed and it worked wonders for me.
