if everyone is using their mules on the day that we are supposed to gift each other, how will we know who we are gifting? do we just say "who is ________'s mule?" also, when do we find out who we are gifting?

I'll post below what I'd suggested earlier to the original organizer, in a condensed version if I can do it quickly

As the opening post states, the mules allow multiple little "fairy" visits over the next few weeks, needs to happen soon while kids are still out of school. Or you can have a friend deliver if you don't have a mule (if you don't know what a mule is, it's a secondary character used really just to get the freebie credits and quest items)

ImportantThe mules don't need to be used at the final exchange party!! Or do they? Is it meant to be a forever secret? I don't know how you worked it in the past. But that's how Secret Santas always worked in middle school, where you find out who the Santa was on the last day. If someone can't make it to the party, well that's explained later, but WDWfan36 has final call.

Here's what it sounded like you were headed toward, or maybe it was just others suggesting:

*same gender so we can exchange correct clothing
*3-4 week exchange period with at least one exchange per week set up by the gifter. One suggestion to kick start is to have ppl meet at opening-9:00 in, say, castle forecourt south-east(?). Some are able to do do two characters at once, my computer/shockwave freezes whenever I do it and my two computers are too far apart to try to run back and forth I think. But at least some ppl would be able to hook up initially. Time limit of 10 minutes, then again at 2:00PM Pacific time and again at 8:30 pm PT? Do that again the next day for those who missed due to work or whatever. This is probably too many times, adjust accordingly. Hopefully ppl would get their mules hooked up with the regular character this way to get on friends list and then they can take if from there on their own.
*ppl keep saying they like rare (other thread ). Well, duh, don't we all? It seems greedy to expect such an item when we're talking about spending a total of 500-1000 credits? If the gifter has extras and feels generous, I'd/you'd be blessed, but it shouldn't be expected.

Having the mules makes it so the ppl won't HAVE to be at the party if they can't; they can arrange to meet separately via message. Like i said, list the three times(or two), with a ten minute waiting period for people to connect. Ten minutes isn't too long but is long enough that those who are free can get there. Three time periods covers all time zones and work schedules. Then you step out until you host the party at the end.

I've never been part of a vmk exchange so no past experience.

could we do the thing that we did on idol_fan's thread where we say what we want? this is because i don't want to get my person (i'm not saying who) something they don't want or already have. also, how are we supposed to meet them? do we just keep searching their title under guest rooms to see when they're on?

sorry for all the questions, and if you do want to know what everyone likes, i'd like costumes, especially hats, even if they're not rare (that's a hint-hint for that redish-pink baseball vmk hat!).

For anyone still trying to hook up with their buddies, try to be at Castle Forecourt - where Mickey and Walt are-North-North-East at 7:00 pm PT for 15 minutes on Monday. Depending on your time zone, sleep, church and work schedules, this may not work out for you, but for now we'll see if it does the trick. WDWfan36 is gone for the week so I'm just going to go with this. If you don't need to meet up with your buddy because they are already on your mule's friend list, and your "secret buddy" has already found YOU, then you don't need to bother unless you just want to say good morning.

For the night owls and working crew, someone can schedule something Monday night if needed.

Remember your real character that we DIS folks know you by needs to be there to receive the friend request and/or gift, but if you are still looking for your buddy you should have a second window open before logging in if your computer can handle it to have your "mule" in the room also. Don't play full screen and you can kind of go back and forth a little easier having one off to the right and one off to the left. It's only for max 15 minutes. Keep the paper handy in case noone shows up for something to do!

ok I had an emergency errand this morning, nobody showed up yesterday so hopefully either noone did this morning or it was helpful, but I'll try again for a little later tonight. Am I the only one having problems? Or the only one who cares because everyone else got busy with the slide competition and forgot about it?

As far as I know anyone who was given a name to be a secret pal to, also has someone assigned to be THEIR secret pal. My son's name is on the list on page one, but he never got a pal, so I don't know if there are other cases like that, but if you are a gifter, you are generally also a receiver.

If you haven't been able to gift or receive yet, then try to make the 7:30 AM vmk time tomorrow (7/17). If the room name changes from earlier post, I'll edit the post. It's hard to guess which rooms they will have open and it depends on the number of people around. Maybe there's a standard but I don't know it yet. If we need a night time meeting then we'll post it during the day. Hopefully this will help those who need it.

I check my pm box everyday so I know I didn't miss the message. Could someone plz PM me and tell me what is going on and why I missed this whole thing.

Wow! Thanks, ScooterJake, for bumping this up. I too had no idea gifting had begun. I do not know who I am supposed to be gifting. I feel awful at the thought that someone out there thinks they have been forgotten, when reality is that I didnt know this had actually begun.

Since I haven't received anything either, though, maybe i was just completely left out of the matching??? I don't know... I just hope someone out there isn't being shorted while waiting for a gift from me - that would be very sad. Hope everyone is having fun with their gift buddies! Maybe I can join in the next round.

Now, it seems that this is starting all over, but what about the people in this thread who tracked down their buddy and everything.
