Seconds at Dinner

Woohoo! The fat....umm...rotund....umm...fluffy...umm....pooh sized....umm...festively plump gentleman rejoices...:banana::banana::banana:

(again, hypothetically) :lmao::rotfl2:

I just wanted to say you are just (hypothetically) adorable!!! :lovestruc

Did you happen to see they make Mickey Bar antenna toppers for your car? They have a bite out of one ear. I just bought 2 off of eBay. Too cute!

The only thing I asked for that I couldnt get was on the last night, I had waited all week hoping I would get a chance to order a crab dip that my hubby had the 1st night. I didn't realize the menu changed every night.

Maybe a tip for your next cruise. If there is something that you enjoy that is on one of the 3 restaurant's regular rotational menu (meaning not the Captain's Gala, Golden Mickey's, Pirate Night or Til We Meet Again menus), you can get it pretty easily from any of the restaurants on "rotational dinner night", so 3 times a cruise.

Not sure that's clear. So say the crab dip was on the Parrot Cay menu (don't remember exactly as I'm not a big crab fan) on the first night. On the nights that you have the rotational menu in Lumiere's/Tritons or Animator's Palate, you can request the crab dip because it is easy for them to get it for you (Parrot Cay kitchen is already making it for the night so your server can go there and grab an order and bring it back to you.) They can probably get it for you on the other nights too but that's when it becomes a special order and takes more time.

I could never fully clean up true seconds but I HAVE asked for a 2nd round of escargot in Lumiere's / Tritons before.:rolleyes1 Oh, and once DH and I split a 3rd entree in Palo that I wanted to try...

(But a PP was correct in that the server will usually bring the "whole" composed plate because that's how the kitchen prepares them for service. They grab & go.)

Our server last month, Genesis, only brought double of the meat/fish/pork/chicken entree for our guys.

On my last cruise with my daughter we were placed with the most wonderful group of ladies and one of them wanted to try different foods. Every night we had a table full of food, usually one of everything. It was fabulous! :)

However, before that I cruised with DH and aside from having the slowest servers ever, they also ignored requests for seconds of anything. Then they had the nerve to tell us to give them all the highest rating possible on the comment cards. :( Yeah, that didn't happen.

Last month, we had the best servers. My husband didn't love the menu many nights, so the head server head a ribeye sent out for him every night - without the sauce as he requested. He even had a ribeye made up on the pirate night, when none of the dining rooms were serving it.

And our server brought us extra desserts every night. And upon request, he would also make us something as simple as a bowl of chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce if other desserts didn't sound great.

We were really full every night. They bent over backward to make it a really magical cruise.

I think the rule on DISNEY CRUISEforfood is eat till you ALMOST feellike throwing up.

:cool1: And another secret, if you like the way the birthday cake looks, and it is not your birthday, order it ! It's is really great. :cool1:

:rotfl2:Can't wait to do an Ebay search on this. I sometimes think that we cruise Disney for the "free" Mickey Bars. And then if I take the cost of the cruise and divide it by the actual number of Mickey Bars DD eats in a week, that's one heck of an expensive Mickey bar!!!!!!!:rotfl:

What is Disney's protocol? :)

They've always given us as much (or as little) as we wanted...seconds or thirds have never been a problem. One cruise, when asked what she wanted for desert, my DD(7) answered "nothing", so the server brought a plate with the word "nothing" spelled out in chocolate syrup!

We have had the server bring out all the deserts on the menu for the table. My boys also really liked the marichino(sp?) cherries in the cherry cokes and the server would bring out bowls of cherries for them.

between me and difi we had 5 1/2 lobsters on lobster night well i had most of it 3 1/2.

Do you remember the names of your servers? I would like to try an avoid them. I would also have talked to the head server. :sad2:

Thanks for all your great food stories. I have heard so much about Palo, but not a lot about eating in the regular dining rooms. Good to hear if my boys need extra of something that it is no problem.:cool1:

Hypothetically, said "fluffy" gentleman could order three or four bacon-wrapped filets. And wash them down with a couple of desserts. :grouphug:

Unfortunately, I was looking at my printed out "old" menus.

After I took a quick look at the "new" menus from the faq here on the dis, I see the filets are nowhere to be found. Bummer, DD and I were looking forward to those. But hey, we won't starve. ;)

Definitely. Thanks for posting the question. Have a great cruise!

Not only can you have second, thirds, etc. But you can also have something on the menu again the next night. When we were on the Panama Canal cruise I mentioned to the Head Waiter how much I loved Escargot, he asked if I would like it again tomorrow. Hummm, let me think, YES! I think myself and 2 other tablemates had Escargot for 3 nights in a row and then had Calamari for another 3 nights in a row.

If you don’t like the veggie choice that comes with your entrée, you can always ask for a baked potato. They are always very accommodating.

We also get Shirley Temples with dinner all the time…no extra cost an they are so yummy!
