second tooth coming in behind the first...

All of my adult teeth came in that way. Almost all of my baby teeth were pulled out by the dentist because they would never loosen even with the adult teeth fully grown in behind them.

I was going to post this same thing. I lost 3 baby teeth, the rest had to be pulled. Because my parents weren't ones to take us to the dentist EVER, it wasn't done until I was 11.

THank you, thank you, thank you for this thread!!!!

My daughter had the same problem, and the dentist told her to wiggle the front one loose.

She did; it came out yesterday and I forgot all about it until reading.

Thankfully I was able to arrange a visit from the tooth fairy before she woke up.

I owe you!!

DD6 is having the same issue. Her 2 front bottom teeth each have the teeth coming behind. It has been about 2 weeks, but if they don't come out soon I may call the dentist.

My oldest dd (now 18) had the same problem...many of her adult teeth came in with her baby teeth still in place....She had one that concerned me and i mentioned it to my dentist twice...all the teeth moved into place BUT one did not....it was 5600 in orthodontal...this is a completely normal problem, but keep an eye on it...in my daughters case, the tooth had fully rooted in behind....your dentist can keep an eye on it too, unfortunately for us we had a "not so good" dentist at the time....Just wanted you to know that usually they do move into position, but just keep watch...

I just took DD9 to the dentist today to check on her "extra" teeth. Her two second teeth from the middle on the top need to be pulled. He gave us the warning speech in the spring and they have actually gotten tighter not looser even with DD wiggling the "h" out of them. He says the adult teeth are pushing the baby teeth sideways instead of rubbing and pushing down on them. So when you see a baby tooth come out it doesn't have a root because the adult tooth has essentially rubbed it down. These will have the root and all, poor thing..she is nervous, but I told her she will be able to smile with confidence once she sees how much better it will look without the baby teeth sticking straight out...he said she looked like a can opener!!!LOL!!!!! Hopefully this will cut down on the amt of orthodontic work she will need in the future:scared1:

I'm going through the same thing with my dd. Last year her baby tooth took forever to fall out and the adult one was growing in fully behind it. Our dentist gave her a retainer to straighten out the adult tooth and push it into place. When she went for her check up this June he nearly had a fit because the same thing was hppening only this time the baby tooth was still in. He told me we needed to pull the baby tooth and would need a retainer again. After he pulled the tooth he didn't say anything about a retainer though. I feel better after reading everyone else's experiences now. I'm more hopeful that the adult tooth will move into place on it's own.
