Second Thoughts on ASMO

Hello,

We are headed to WDW on 7/26-8/1. Following our stay there we are headed out on the Dream 8/1-8/4. This is my second trip to WDW, and last visit we stayed off site. I am currently booked at ASMO. I originally booked this because DS 2 is in love with BUZZ! I booked a preferred room with a request for the Toy Story section. I am having second thoughts....

I know how we travel, and our room will basically be a place to sleep and shower. We won't do a whole lot of pool time, or spend a whole lot of time in the room for that matter. I am thinking about switching mainly for convenience. I will have a double stroller... and two kids. I like the thought of making it back from the park in short order at the end of a long hot day. I really don't know what to do. Is it worth it to upgrade to a different hotel with more transport options? I don't think we could swing Contemporary or the other Monorail resorts financially... but was looking at Animal kingdom or Wilderness lodge. Would having the boat and bus be a benefit? Our park plans are:

7/26: Arrival, Hoop de Doo review!
7/27: AK, ADR: Tusker house bfast, BOMA dinner
7/28: DHS, ADR: Play and Dine bfast, Mama Melrose dinner(fantasmic)
7/29: Epcot, ADR: Askerhaus Bfast, Biergarten dinner
7/30: MK, Chef Mickey's bfast, Captin jack's dinner
7/31: MK, Crystal palace bfast, Rainforest cafe DTD dinner
8/1: Check out and board the Dream!!

All of our ADR's correspond to what park we will be in on that day... for the most part.

What should I do? Stay at ASMO, change reservation to a different resort? If so which one?

I say maybe upgrade to a mod... Rooms are bigger, multiple bus stops, more food options.. I bet you'd enjoy POR,

If you are never in your room why pay the extra money. I say stick with ASMO.

the only move with will get you any shorter of a commute in general is a monorail resort, and those will ONLY get you closer to MK, (they all require a transfer or walk to get to epcot, so the trip ends up being just as long) so wont really help you out on most of your days. Id stay where you are if you're not going to be spending a lot of time there. Why spend the extra money?

I would stay. The buses have been getting a bad rap lately on these boards. I was having second thoughts and I have stayed at all the values at least once, POP multiple times. First thing in the morning and at park closing the buses will be packed for all the resorts not just the values. The only real benefit that you would get by upgrading would be a closer bus stop. I would save the money for spending on the ship.

My advice is to stay put. If you were to choose AKL, you would be taking a bus to every park just like staying at ASMo. If you were to stay at WL, the only advantage would be the MK days, where you can take the boat instead of the buses. I don't think that it's worth spending all that extra money if your goal is to improve your transportation options.

If being able to come and go as you please is important, consider renting a car instead. You can pick one up at the Car Care Center or the Dolphin if you're flying and don't want to deal with airport traffic. There are also other car rental agencies in hotels in the Downtown Disney area. Some are willing to send a shuttle to pick you up from your resort and they will drop you off after you have returned the car, too.
