Waiting for our table at Big River Grille today, we overheard the hostess speaking to another family that asked when the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk was reopening. The hostess said it wasn't reopening and that Splitsville is opening another location in that space.

Well after going to Splitsville with our 4 teen adult boys two weeks ago, lets hope it's in better shape than the one in Disney Springs. That one is a joke. All of us were sticking to the floor and couldn't slide, and this was at noon, not at night after several parties spilled beer on the lanes. It was like golfing at Top Golf. Fun, but not equivalent to the real thing. It's bad when you have to literally stand at the foul line, wind up, and throw the ball because the approaches were so bad.

My comment is ...WHERE WOULD THEY PARK THOSE CARS OF GUEST ??? that is why I think this is a big no
Oh my, that's a major concern for me too. Parking at Boardwalk is already a problem. I think they should charge guests who aren't staying at BW or attending a convention there for parking and let them get X number of hours free with restaurant validation. It's amazing how that parking lot clears out after Epcot closes.

ESPN is part of the 'family." Really hard to believe it won't eventually reopen, even as a loss leader (which I find hard to believe it ever was). I admit I'm baffled why it hasn't already, but this night is young. I wouldn't write it off just yet. Lots of other places haven't reopened yet either, and that place is shoulder to shoulder when it's rockin'.

Splitsville? Yeah. No. That place isn't even close enough to be big enough. And the parking? The reasons not are overwhelming.

The ESPN restaurants have all failed. I'm surprised this one is still open.

I can’t imaging a bowling alley in there. It really isn’t that big of a restaurant. What would they get, 6 or 8 lanes maybe. And then the small bar/ restaurant area. Why would they take up all that room for a few bowling lanes instead of tables that could turn over & make money with food & drinks. Really wouldn’t seem like a bigger money maker than ESPN club.

Interesting. I'm not fond of multiple locations at WDW - there's so much room for variation, seems like a waste. That said, I do enjoy Splitsville and I guess its one more family thing to do at the Boardwalk. I think people often visit the boardwalk area expecting there to be things to do, and there's really not.

ESPN Club was always popular during football season. We've enjoyed watching games there during our trip - it was the perfect spot on a Sunday with all the TVs and like-minded people around you. Splitsville shows games too, but their set-up isn't as good as ESPN Club was. Hoping they can still capture that somehow. I would bet something opens there around the time football season starts because otherwise its a big loss.

I'm not sure why the ESPN clubs aren't successful but it seems like they were money losers.

One thing I noticed about the Boardwalk one was the service was always slow and bad even when it wasn't packed. Not sure why.

ESPN has changed a lot from what it started as. There is much more competition in sports reporting. ESPN has changed its format and it has failed. As the old saying goes if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I see ESPN clubs are similar to TOWL. It will only have a short time of being busy, people going to parks, resorts etc…. Your in WDW and spending big $$ on this vacation. You can go to a sports bar at home whenever you want and it’s much cheaper.

Not interested. ESPN was always good for dropping in to watch a game in between parks or after leaving the park. I spent many hours there watching baseball and football.
We had a great bartender there once who made me a hot toddy when I had a wretched cold.
