I don't currently have a 2nd job but a few years ago I had a 2nd job - a friend of mine worked a night shift (10pm-6am) and I watched her daughter for her. She would drop her daughter off around 9pm (just in time for bed in the guest bedroom) and then pick her up around 6:30am (about the time I was getting up & ready for work) This was before I had kids (I guess more than a few years ago) and there were very few times it was a problem. It's not fair to call it a 2nd job as I slept through most of it!

I work retail for my second job--I've been there 5 years and make a nice hourly rate plus bonus.

I work Monday-Friday 8:30-5 at my first job--5 days per week.

I work 5 days per week at my part time job with schedules of:
6-9 Monday-Friday
7 or 8 hour shifts on Saturday between 10am-9pm
12-6 Sunday

Mentally I'm fried, but enjoy the income. I go in spurts where it doesn't bother me, and spurts where I want to quit a job. Unfortunately, my full time job is closing in May and I will be bumping my part time to full time to supplement until I either find another job, or adjust my life with significantly less funding.

My husband worked at the hospital on the weekends as a transporter. He picked up patients for tests, moved them from one place to another and did morgue runs.

It paid ok, not great, but was a great help for when we first got married. They worked around his normal full time schedule and even called him on days he was not scheduled to see if he was free to work.

I currently have a second job, but it's only 1 day a week right now and it's only 30 minutes. I teach line dancing at the club I've been going to for years (like 12 years) one night a week. I get a flat fee when I teach and I get free admission to the bar and all concerts. I will say I'm tired on Tuesdays (my regular job is 8-5, the teaching thing is Monday night at 9 pm but I usually stay and dance for a couple hours) but I like the second job so I'll keep it for now. Who knows, it may turn into a more regular thing, as in more nights.

That sounds like a fun 2nd job. My 2nd job is chauffeuring my kids to various activities.

Wow, interesting second jobs. I'm thinking about picking one up myself to try and plow through my school loans, but can't decide what to pursue.

i have worked part time at a couple different jewelry stores. I worked about 2 nights a week 6 to 9:30 and then usually one weekend day 6 or 8 hours, depending on what they needed. I usually made $100 or so a week after taxes. It worked ok for me since i dressed the same for both jobs, but it did eventually get to be too much.

It's not a second job per se, but I occasionally freelance for sporting events. Added over 10% to my income last year.

I can turn down work when I need to, but am at someone else's mercy regarding whether I get crewed.

For years (before children), I worked two jobs. I worked full time in a bank (hours were 8:30-4/8:30-5 depending on the day of the week), and then I worked a second job at 7Eleven. Usually I worked one or two evenings from 5 or 6 until 10 or 11, and then I worked one 8/9 hour shift on the weekend. It worked out pretty well for me because at that point my DH was working a job that entailed a LOT of overtime (he rarely got home before 9:30 at night

I teach math two days a week at a community college. Its just a part time gig for me since I stay home with my kids during the day, but for most of my colleagues, its a second job. Hours are flexible, usually a class meets two nights a week, but its not guaranteed that you will get a class that works with your schedule.

I currently have 3 jobs. I work M-F 8:10am-2:40pm as a Special Education Aide at the elementary school near my house. Saturday nights and whenever they need extra help (like Valentine's Day or when they have parties booked) I waitress at a nice BYOB restaurant. After school and on weekends as needed I work from home as an independent travel agent specializing in all-inclusive resorts. I was doing that as my only job for years but business dropped off a bit and it seemed like time for me to work outside the home as well. Working from home has some great benefits but there is something to be said for getting dressed and out of the house around other adults.

Out of those jobs I love and hate waitressing the most . There's nothing like working hard for about 6 hours and walking out with $100+ cash in your pockets. However, the nights when it is well below that amount or customers are less than friendly it becomes difficult.

I have a 9-5 job and, in my off hours, I blog about certain reality shows. Don't laugh! My blogs are doing pretty well right now, but it took awhile to get them to that point.

I have a friend who used to clean offices in the evenings (after her first job). She really enjoyed it.

Not me, but DH works as a bartender as a 2nd job.

I have a couple friends that have 2nd jobs, one teaches aerobics at a local gym, another works at a bakery.

That sounds like a fun 2nd job. My 2nd job is chauffeuring my kids to various activities.

It is fun......but it's hard work too. the best of both worlds really.

Many more interesting 2nd jobs! I'm really surprised - I was expecting all waiting staff and Target employees. These are also giving me some ideas; anyone else work a second job? Any recommendations, any NON-recommendations?

Have to add - I love reality shows, so I've probably read your blog DisneyAddict M. Although - I can't take the Bachelorette / the Bachelor. I love to write; wish I could be paid for it; you must be good, it's hard to draw a following with so many sites out there.

My friend used to work as an overnight attendant at a small group home (3-4 people) for mentally challenged adults 3 nights one week and 4 nights another. She was a special needs EA during the day, she'd go home, spend the evening with her kids, head to work for 11:00, sleep, head home at 7:00, get herself and her kids ready, and head out the work again. She said it was fine 90% of the time - they would just sleep, so she could just sleep - she had to get up once and check on them, but other than that, they had baby monitors in their rooms, and she had mother's ears She loved it; she did it for a loooong time - she's at another school, so she might still be doing it! I don't remember the pay being great; a couple of dollars over min. wage - but for just sleeping 90% of the time? That would be like an extra 1200-1400 / month! (before taxes)

I used to work at a ski resort. My hubby did white water rafting guiding on the weekends for a while. He has also worked bingo halls and teaching people to ski. He also did tutoring.

I am not sure if this is the "best". However, I work full time and have a part time job teaching online. My full time job is in education so it is pretty easy to do when I get off of work, etc. It does not affect me mentally because I have the hang of it. I hope this helps.

I work 2 jobs, but they are related. My full time job is working with MR/DD adults at a non profit agency.

My part time job is working one on one with MR/DD adults as an independent contractor certified through the state, and paid by the state. There is really an unlimited amount of hours available for this around here. I only have a handful of clients and work 5+ hours a week at this pt job.

Do I like working 2 jobs? Not really, but I have since I got divorced years ago, otherwise I couldn't fund my Disney addiction
