Hello yet again...
I am second guessing myself and I need some friendly WDW vets to help...:-)
We arrive Thursday to WDW (flying in)...we booked the Fantasmic Dinner Package with dinner at Hollywood and Vine at 6 pm and a 9 pm Fantasmic Show. We are staying at the Swan...
My question is do you think this is too much for a first night?
Should we just grab some snacks from the club lounge and hit EPCOT and dinner at somewhere like ESPN? We really want to see Fantasmic...is this a waste of our first night? (We should arrive at Disney by 5 pm the latest)

AAAHHH! See why I hate planning?????????

I think this is fine - if you have passes that will not "waste a day" like AP's or UPH than I think that's a great start to your vacation - Good Luck!!

It all depends on how long you are staying. I left my house at 5:45am, arrived at my hotel at 2pm, got in the last 2 hours of AK and still made it to the Food and Wine Festival for many liquid samples and Illuminations. But I did all of this because I only had 4 day (3 evenings). If you are worried about doing too much, and you have time to see all that you want to see, take it easy. It might make the next day a little more magical.

I second WDWalways. If you have UPH or Ap's I think it's a great way to start. And as long as you don't really try to do much else as MGM then it should be very relaxing. If you have an PHP or PH, you night not want to go to any park the first night. Just hang around the Boardwalk and watch the EPCOT show from your room - be sure to request one with a view!

Thank you for your replies.
We have AP's. We are staying May 15 to May 19...we are mainly going for star wars weekends...

What is PHP?:earsgirl:

What time are you flying in? I think this is really pushing it, if your plane is late and/or you take something like Mears.

How are you getting from the airport to the hotel?

CarolA-- we have a towncar. My sister used this man when she came in and he is wonderful. My flight is at 2:55...so we should be ok...that's what I am afraid of, being rushed...we will arrive around 5...

I could make it with a 3 pm arrival so I assume you can also.

Have fun.

For me, the question would be what time are you flying out.

If you aren't getting up particularly early that day, then it shouldn't be a problem to make dinner and Fantasmic that night. We live in Northern California, so our flight usually takes off around 6:00AM, and lands in Orlando around 4pm. Because of that, we don't schedule anything the first night, and plan to hit the hay early.

But if you are flying out at a more reasonable time, this shouldn't be a concern.

As for being rushed, you should be ok as long as you don't get delayed at some point. If you do get delayed to the point you might be late, just call and cancel the PS.

You could schedule a backup FDP on another night, and then cancel that one if you use the first one.

That is true..we could do that..I think we will be ok!
We are flying out at 2:55...we should land at approx. 4:45...
I am the type of person who likes to go as soon as we get there...and settle in later...so I think this will work out.
They don't schedule PS's for any later than 6 pm for that show, so we'll see!
