When you get your points loaded call and just say "Im calling to book my welcome home stay for the new contract I just purchased" dont ask if they do itYes, they seemed to not be aware and said they didn’t know why the guides kept telling people to call to ask…but they said it in such a way as to infer it was the guides who were poorly informed. (Hence my eye roll…)
I would call your guide and tell him that this is not acceptable. We were denied a second welcome home and all I needed was one day. To make it worse it was my husbands first contract my other contracts are mine alone. He is on the new direct contract and it is his first DVC contract and they still denied us after telling him during the welcome call that he qualified. It was frustrating and member services was unpleasant. I am also on the contract, but he is a 100% new Dvc member
If its not available to rent out cash then then cant rent it for a welcome home stay.Just to update - while they said a second welcome home was possible, I couldn't get the room type I wanted. So I had to cobble together a stay and waitlist to get the points to go as far as I'd like. So think they do try to make it happen, but they won't move mountains if something comparable is available (even if it means shortening your trip - example resort view isn't available, preferred view is - nothing is crossing back from the cash side to help out)
I would not. I would get a recommendation from the here on a guide that is good. I have 2 that I can recommend. On the subject of calling your guide, I just got a piece of mail that says my guide left the company. What normally happens then, do I just call the general number?
Thank you so much!I would not. I would get a recommendation from the here on a guide that is good. I have 2 that I can recommend.
My guide is virtual only and he is really knowledgeable and has been really great.

The guide I met at WDW that was very very nice and works there so you can meet him in person.

Nice! Very glad it worked out.I asked my Guide about this and was told to ask for a leader if there were any issues when I called back as this change occurred in the past few months.
I did call back and there was no problem this time! Their inventory didn’t seem to exactly match online but there were options available.
VGF and VGC are usually excluded, even when purchasing those resorts. It would be interesting to see what Disney does in that situation if someone walked away from a sale. When i buy direct im telling them im not buying unless a placeholder is booked for the resort I want and im guaranteed it, as this is the only reason I would be persuaded to buy new points when I have enough.
They can put rooms on hold before you purchase. They did that to me with poly when I almost signed the dotted line. If im paying $30k I better be able to stay somewhere I want and i dont trust pay now and ask after.
